Texas Rangers 2012 Thread

Too much pressure for Perez to handle at this point. Another loss tomorrow would be devastating

At least we dont have to wait until 7 tonight to see if the team can bounce back. I will be at my desk at 1 following along online. They HAVE to win today.

This team definitely doesn't seem near as resilient as they were the last two seasons. Their offensive numbers are down too. HRs are down 20, OBP is down 5 points and BA is down 9 points. The ERA is also up 0.14 to 3.93. Otherwise the pitching looks like it's close to last year.

Considering the MLB is testing for HGH for the first time this year, I wonder if that has anything to do with the drop in production since offensively, the team is very close to the same offensively. Especially Mike Napoli who has fallen off the table offensively this year. From .320 BA and 30 HRs to .224 BA and 20 HRs. That is a huge swing in batting average. From All-Star level to may not make the squad level.

Sort of a must win today?

I think so. Win today and they could possibly clinch this weekend over the Angels at home. That would be awesome to celebrate on the field at home while the Angels walk off in shame.

1:05 needs to get here! I am glad Harrison is pitching today. Don't know much about this Blackley guy the A's will be starting. I just hope that he gets shelled.

4 more against the A's (3 of those in Oakland) and 3 more against a surging Angels club. Yeah, it could get a little dicey for the Rangers these next few days.

I believe one win seals a playoff spot.

No. There are seven games left and you have a 3 game lead. I think you would need more then just 1 more win because you play the A's 4 times in the last 7 games. You have to win more then one game I believe. However, lets say you do get into the wildcard, that's a one game deal, winner plays the 1 seed in the AL. That's not ideal either. I think you need to win a few of those games to insure that you don't have a one and done game and that you lock up home field.

The Elimination number is 5. Any combinations of wins by the Rangers and losses by the As that add up to 5 eliminates the As chances of winning the division. One game isn't enough.

Yeah, but you could still make the playoffs with a Wildcard NYC. I would not be comfortable doing that if I were the Rangers, especially after having lead the AL in wins for so long but technically you could make the playoffs without winning the division and that may be what Juck is talking about here. I think you might still need more then one win though but I am not certain exactly how many wins that might be.

The math is basically the same, except it's 5.5 rather than 5 since the Orioles are only .5 games behind the As for the wildcard. Though it includes more teams.

I say screw it. The Rangers should just win out and be done with it! :laugh2:

If they are able, that is exactly what they should do. One game splits the Yankees and the Rangers and the Yankees have the Orioles hot on their heels. They can't afford to lose many. Texas has to try and win every game left.

Not Harrison's best stuff but the offense is going off. We might need 13+ today to be safe

There definitely trying really hard to lose it. It's now 9-6 in the 8th. Adams has given up 2 HRs. Harrison too.

EDIT: Make that three HRs for Adams. 9-7

Damn the A's are too good...they're our kryptonite

Koji has finally arrived after one year. He's lights out right now...best in the bullpen

4 games up with 6 left...

Unfortunately we have our next 3 with the Angels and they have their next 3 with the Mariners...

Then we finish up our last 3 at Oakland... they get a 6 game home stand to end the season...
