Texas Rangers 2012 Thread

hamilton gets on my nerves, i hope he is gone. its just a shame cole hamels wont be available to take that money from him.

Josh isnt the reason the Rangers tanked. Its popular to make him the whipping boy but that whole team's offense laid down.

Orioles win Friday and then take it to the Skankees!

Baltimore and Detroit in the ALCS!

Heard it before.

I guess I'm not surprised at all the "Rangers suck" talk.

After the first few games it seemed there was the air of "This is a fantastic team and nothing can get in their way-- best team in the AL" by a lot of folks.

Quite the change.

But the season isn't over yet. They still have a lot of talent and can do some damage.

A lot of the the same could be applied to Hamilton. After his first month the expectations were set way, way too high. His career numbers didn't support any sort of 60 or even a 50 homer assault. He doesn't take walks, so if he's not on a hot streak he's not adding much to the offense. He's a talent, but he's got issues. I'm not sure I would want to spend $20-$25 mil a year on the guy, but if he leaves the Rangers they'll have a big hole to fill.

Watched some of the yankee game and am just stupified by the amount of doooches on that team. Fans are so obnoxious. They represent everything I hate about sports.

They all come out of the wood work. I call it Cowboyitis. O well.

Been a Rangers fan since 1987, still loving this. :D

I'm still rooting for both the Rangers AND the Braves, my AL and NL teams. And they both play at home tomorrow, and each has exactly the pitcher that they need up there, Darvish and Medlen. Those guys give their teams the best chance to win and continue deeper into the postseason.

I'm rooting for the Braves as well. I went to the ATL a couple of years ago and man...that is definitely a baseball town.

As gotta play Detriot. lol Good luck with that Oakland hahaha. the hot streak ends. Verlander game 1 haha at home

I'm thinking the As punch out Detroit. They are by far the hottest team in baseball and have been since July I believe. That is a damn long time to be remain the hottest team in baseball.

Not sure how you gathered this. I'm a braves fan. They deserve much better. The fan support is terrible

The radio jockeys are pleading for fans to show up @ the games. Tickets were still going on sale as of this morning for the playoff game.

The only kind of town it is imo is College Football.

If the Rangers let Hamilton walk, the offense is really going to suffer. That said, there is no way in hell I pay him $200M like some are saying.

The guy thinks he is a top 5 player in the league. He is right. He is, but only when he decides to play like it. He thinks he so good that he doesn't always have to put forth the effort.

I hate to see a player of that talent go, but no way I give him a long term contract for huge money.

Offer him 5 years $100M. If someone beats that, (and they will) let him go. Take the draft pick and draft another player.

With Hamilton or without him, the offense has suffered. Hamilton is like a Vlad Guerrero to me right now. He's great when he makes contact, but his impatience at the plate makes him a liability.

I think Kinsler is going to announce that he's having surgery soon after the season ends. He hasn't been right for a couple of months. Beltre I'll guarantee that he has surgery as soon as the season ends, probably on the scar tissue in his abdomen. I'm not sure who else off the top of my head.

I like our chances today. We have the better lineup, the better starting pitcher, and the better back end of the bullpen. The problematic part is that the damned O's, much like the damned A's, have a serious amount of luck or momentum going their way. I still have no clue how the A's are doing it, other then basically having about 4 AAAA/bench level players having career seasons simultaneously. The A's feel like the 2010 Giants as far as offense goes.

I honestly like the way we match up with every team in the playoffs, including Oakland, if we get past this one game play in. I think we have the second best pitcher in the AL right now, maybe third depending on how you count Sabathia. I think we have the second best total line up. I think we probably have the best late inning RPs in the playoffs right now.

You really think the Rangers are better in the bullpen than the O's? :lmao2:

The bullpen is one of the main reasons the Orioles won 93 games this year. Come to think of it, luckily they ended up with the same amount of wins as the Rangers.

Pitching has been the key to the A's success, it's always about pitching and the Rangers NEVER have enough. It seems the A's get good pitching just right off the street. They seem to have good pitching every year. It's hitting they've struggled with until this year. Their scouts certainly have an eye for pitching. If I were the Rangers I would lure their pitching scouts from them.

Honestly I think the Rangers just go thru the motions tonight and the season ends. I hope I'm wrong!

If the Rangers can get off to a start similar to last game... I think they win it at home. There won't be any meltdowns after that debacle on Wednesday.

Now, if Baltimore comes out and punch the Rangers in the mouth? It could be over by the 4th inning. I can forsee the Rangers going up there playing hero ball in the middle innings and for the last two weeks that's what they've been playing and pressing too much.

This team and game will go as far as Yu can take us. If we get the good Yu who strikes out 9 or 10 guys a night steps up... then we got a chance. If the bad Yu who's out there walking every other guy and nibbling and at 80 something pitches before the 6th comes out, then we'll have problems. Ideally I'm wanting for it to be Yu hand it to Ogando and Ogando to Nathan. I have no trust in anyone else coming out of the bullpen tonight.
