Amazing how this team always lights it up on offense in the 1st game of a series. Dominant Derek Holland ftw

Nolan said pre-game interview that the team Boston saw in Tx won't necessarily be the same team they see this time.

Kinsler is suddenly huge. And credit Holland, of course.

That was the Rangers 17th shutout of the season tying the Rangers all time mark set in 1977.

Rangers two hit Boston tonight. Great games by both the pitching staff and offense. Murphy had a four hit game.

Embarrassing...so much for that. We'll probably drop another one tomorrow with one of our scrub pitchers going to the mound.

Colbyashi is garbage. I guess last year was too good to be true; he really is just a 4 or 5. Matt Harrison has revealed himself to be a 5 or a reliever; Ogando has revealed himself to probably be a reliever.

Once again, starting pitching is all of a sudden a signficant problem for the Rangers. Assuming Holland takes another step forward, the Rangers might be looking at having to replace 3/5 of the rotation if CJ bolts.

If CJ can be retained, the Rangers would be looking at:
CJ Wilson/open/Derek Holland/Colby Lewis/open

Hopefully we'll swap Ogando out for Feliz and get him into the rotation - that leaves one rotation spot for the Rangers to fill via free agency.

Anyone have a list of FA pitchers after the season?

The Rangers MUST retain CJ at all costs after the season, otherwise this team become every other Rangers team of the 90s. Lots of bats, not enough pitching, and will go nowhere.

If Holland takes the next step and we can retain CJ, those two would make a good #1 and #2. I agree Colby is better off as a #4. Ogando is tough to make a read on...he's been too inconsistent after the All Star Break to the point where Matt Harrison has looked like the better overall starter (even though Harrison has struggled too). Nonetheless, both guys are #5 guys so we're looking at needing a legit #3 pitcher

You need at least 3 pitchers to win in the playoffs, as evidenced last year with Lee, CJ and Colby pitching. Colby was just a flash in the pan though. Don't know if they are ready to bring Martin Perez over next year. I don't think Feliz will be a starter since Wash seems intent on making him the permanent closer.

I found a list of FA pitchers.

Its complete garbage, except for CC, CJ, and Roy Oswalt. Oswalt will probably just retire.

If the Rangers don't retain CJ, 2012 is a lost year.

Anyone watching the game today? That skipped start for Harrison looks like it has helped him a bit. He doesnt look super bad, but he doesnt look as bad as he has been lately.

Hopefully the same skipped start can give Oganda the same boost or the postseason will be quick.

Thanks, didn't realize they were playing now. On TBS too.

4-0: Rangers up in the top of the 6th, bases loaded and no outs. :)

3 RBI triple for Hambone. Rangers up 9-0 with 1 out in the top of the 6th. (the out was a sac fly by Kinsler that scored a run)

7 run 6th inning so far.

nice to see that the Rangers will no worse than split the season series with the "measuring stick" and actually have played better than them in the 10 games across the board.

A win today in this fashion would be very motivating going into the final weeks.

Nice little inning there. Glad Lackey got shelled there, any day you can beat him and the Red Sox is a good day for freedom and democracy.
