Texas strong or weak?

He did take it out of Swoopes' hands - and Heard got hurt when he took a hit when scrambling.

Swoopes wasn't great by any means, or even good for that matter, but the team is so weak in the trenches that it wouldn't matter if they had James Street, Donnie Little or Colt McCoy back there.

Sorry I'm not happy about anything Strong as done. College programs at school like Texas do not take 4 years to make them winners. Mack took over a losing Texas team and got to 9 wins in year 1.
I admit some of this is because Texas fans in my view crapped on a great HC in Mack Brown who brought respectability to this program and taking them to 2 national titles. People were not cutting Mack any slack well I'm not cutting strong any either. He comes in talking noise and his teams look pathetic and it is his responsibility no one else.

It is not a comparable situation. The team Brown took over in 1998 had a lot of talent. Makovic recruited well and won the Big 12 in 1996. They just had a down season in 1997 and needed a change. Strong was not put in as good a situation. The team was a mess during Brown's last couple of seasons.

Put this way Bama when Saban took over they were a mess and in year 2 Saban had them at 12-2. I'm sorry but as a Texas fan I expect the best and strong is not it, there are better coaches out there and a program like UT should not have to settle.

Not at all I felt Strong was a poor hire to begin with and feel even more now. Other big programs do not need 3 or 4 years to turn the program around. Texas is not Baylor they are the top school they should be able to get a quality HC and given the talent across the state of Texas in Football should be able to get players in here. This is not pros you expect a lot out of these kids in their 2nd season in college football, hell they are only here for 3 to 4 years to begin with.

Really? Have you checked out Michigan's football fortunes in the last 8-10 years?

Yes and much has to with their coach why do you think Harbaugh is there? People were saying Notre Dame football was dead and with Brian Kelly he has turned the program around and did not take him 4 year to make them competitive. You only have these kids for 3 to 4 years this BS of it take 3 or 4 years to turn a program around? No it doesn't if you have the right people and HC. Same at Bama that was not some 4 year turn around they were from having no scholarships to hiring Saban and in year 2 got them to a 12-2 season and that is the SEC

Brian Kelly inherited an ND team that had Dayne Crist and Tommy Rees at qb; Strong inherited Swoopes and McCoy the Lesser.

Btw, in year two at Bama Saban had 18 returning starters including a Sr QB in John Parker Wilson.

Strong is an idiot, hell he claimed he did not know who was calling the plays? Give me a break. Big programs do not take long and there is a list of them Auburn coming off suspension where they lost recruits yet did not take long to make them competitive again.

To reiterate: Charlie Strong's record in his first two seasons at UL: 14-12. In the two seasons after that he went 23-3 with two bowl wins.

Being a coog fan I'm sure you don't expect much. Strong needs to go, hey maybe Coogs can sign him

Low blow, dude.. Coogs have nothing to do with your team's perceived mediocrity.

talking to a coog fan saying how great Strong was all I'm saying then maybe the coogs should sign him. I don't think much of strong and coog evidently feels different. I think Texas can and should have done better than a 3rd rate HC

A. Strong isn't a "3rd rate HC". The Horns recent struggles are due to a lack of talent and experience, not coaching.
B. The Saban's of the world clearly wanted nothing to do with cleaning up the mess that was the Horns FB program;
C. We aren't looking for an HC at the moment. HC Tom Herman (2014 Broyles Award winner), DC Todd Orlando (2014 Broyles Award finalist) and co-OC/QB coach Major Applewhite are doing quite well, thank you very much.

I gave my opinion you don't have to agree with it. I don't like him and do not want him coaching the Horns and the sooner he is fired the better. Sorry you have a right to an opinion but so do I and all your claiming of greatness of Strong I don't see it. I expect more than what I have seen from him or any HC who takes over. I don't buy into the crud it takes 4 years not when the avg player you bring in is only there for 3 to 4 years they are expected to make big impacts early on. Right now Texas looks like a high school team with their embarrassing play

That ain't how cfb works. Occasionally a frosh or soph will make a splash, but good teams are built around a core of juniors and seniors. Texas doesn't have that (or . According to Phil Steele UT is one of the least experienced teams in the country (101st, 8th in the Big XII; see https://philsteele.com/Blogs/2015/JUNE15/DBJune16.html ). Add to that the fact that you don't have a QB, and it's shouldn't be a surprise to anyone that the team has struggled.
