When was the last time that happened?
When was the last time that happened?
This is like saying every team is stupid for paying the next guy at any position higher than the last guy
I said it before, it's all about the guaranteed money, Zeke will sign a smaller deal than gurleys as long as the guaranteed portion is right.
For reference:
Gurley's contract effectively: 3 years, 40M guaranteed.
Bell's contract effectively: 2 years, 28M guaranteed.
All they have to do is put in a clause that the guarantees go away if he gets into any more trouble because it's guaranteed to happen.
Stupid Rams ruined the RB market for everyone.
oh and I guess AAron Donald, and our Guys like Dak and Amari wanting more then top 5 money are NOT egomaniacs.. seriously the man has right to maximize his income and you my friend, none of your business.
its a business this happens on regular basis all over all PRO leagues and Dak and Amari are worse because they are outside the top 0 at their positions turning down top 5 money, serious EGO issues and a blurred vision of who they are..
Zeke lives in the real world you can argue for days on whos the best Gurley, Barkley, Bell or Zeke , if he feels hes 1, he has an argument, thats not an ego.
lets not forget Stephen JOnes comments in Spring, "Zeke is worth Gurley money, thats where it starts"..
whos fault is this? The rams paid Gurley after YR3 Zeke is having to fight for it.. whose the issue..Its the Fo big mouth's and med to publicly speak on promises and worth pump up their superstars as the best then try and underpay them..then pubically rip him and say Zeke who, they have fueled this fire and im on Zekes side.. lets not get it twisted Dak and Amari while present are playing EGO hardball.. they arent worth anywhere near what they are askig and Zeke is, Proof the offers the Fo have already made is inching close to what zekes demanding.. if Zeke had no leverage and no basis to do this, no offers at all would have been made.
Zekes not first and wont be last to do this, SB will hold out after yr 3 if he doesnt have new deal, get used to it Elite RBs have had enough and are changing the way they are handled..
NFL players have short careers not just RBs thats bad I mean the worse argument ever give Zekes not missing games do to injury and lets See I know 6 highly paid QBs that have and another 6 that didnt make the playoffs..right hes RB dont pay him..AP, Frank Gore, and other RBs still laying in the s league and contributing..
He is the icon in the dictionary definition of a carney barker! The Rams had other factors, rather than on field, in play causing them to do that deal. The first is that going into the season Gurley was the highest profile player on their team and they were trying to sell season tickets so they needed to secure him. They want to sell season tickets in a market that include the Lakers, the Dodgers, Hollywood, the weather, and the beach.
We should be familiar with this because it happened when Parcels was hired, JJ was trying to get stadium financing and the Cowboys were coming off a few disappointing seasons in a row. JJ knew that the disgruntled fans were fed up and would vote down financing for the stadium unless he hired a real football guy and handed over the reigns. He did and after the stadium vote went his way he slowly returned to his meddling self.
And that in turn becomes market value. Who are you to say it's not? Lol

Wonder how much this past off the field issue has to play into the Cowboys stance against the guaranteed money. If that really is the issue.
Though nothing came of it, it still happened. He was still called into the league office.
If it did not happen at all, wonder if a deal would have been done already. But also Zeke has to realize the Cowboys point of view, if any clauses were added about guarantees tied to off the field issues.
As much as it pains me our chances of a better season diminishes without Zeke, I am also ready to just get the season started to see how much it is effected. Maybe Pollard does great. Maybe he starts off ok, but slow like Zeke's first few games of his career, then takes off and we still win.
Anyway, I just want the season to start with or without Zeke. Let him sit in Cabo and go broke if he doesn't want to sign a high paying contract. So what it is not Gurley money. At least Gurley's team made it to the SB. Something Zeke's team has not done.
I don't see it as the Rams ruining the market for RB's. After considering the Jaylon Smith deal and the average per year of his deal, I think having the top RB's in the league at around 13-15 mill is quite fair. Lets face it, the QB salaries are the problem, not the RB's. And, how many top RB's in the league are there really? You say you can do it by committee but really, who has had great success doing that with average RB's.
The position is evolving but you still really need exceptional talent to be successful as a RB. I really don't have an issue with the amount Zeke is asking for, it is the 3rd year holdout and the off field issues and the "top paid RB" ego driven demand that bothers me.
In the realm of highest paid positions in the NFL, RBs haven't fared well, so maybe they deserve more. But...I don't see it as the Rams ruining the market for RB's. I get what you're all saying, but if zeke gets what he wants this only cements my argument. We see the market with qbs and how ridiculous those contract spikes were just 7 or so years ago. Sure only one team has taken the first step (two if you count the jets), but it has to start somewhere. More to follow, just watch. That's not what "market value" means.
Market value is what the "market" is willing to pay. You put Elliott out there in FA and guess what? He's likely not getting Gurley money because the "market" has largely taken the position that the RB position is fungible.

Stephen Jones also made that Gurley comment BEFORE Bell signed his deal. Stephen then said that the Bell contract reset the market.
You can't pick and choose what comments you want to use from Stephen to fit your argument.
If my understanding is correct, nearly all NFL contracts have off-field conduct clauses anyway.
There's no need for any tags. He's under contract. A contract that tolls over to the following year if he's doesn't show. I hope they don't give in to anything. Let him effectively 'retire'. We know that's not happening.
it doesnt matter he cant take that back, gimmee a break! he said it in public he cant go back on that without blowback..
its in hard writing the internet doesnt forget and Zeke and his agent do not..
If that were the true case then Brees, Foles, and Brady reset the QB market and Dak should take 23?? LMAO... right? so if a WR in Amaris area of production takes less then the next biggest one we can say see new market..
we both know players arent buying that and Zeke shouldnt either.. Im not saying I agree with Zeke at this moment I feel the latest offer is win win and he should take it but he has right to ask for what he feels hes worth and hes the only layer up for contract that has the MARKET Setting Argument..the ONLY ONE.. we both know Dak and Amari arent top 5 at their positions but turned that down..
noones fitting anything SJ said it was out there, doesnt matter its said it done..they all talk to much its the Jones's achilleas heal and I blame them for all these dumb comments..Hey JOnes boy **** already..
