The agency that represents him asks for the same thing for all of their clients.
They have gotten it from all of them except for the Chargers.

I'm sure they are worried if they give in now, then that's it.

Dealings like this normally are not specifically the players asking for this or that. it is the agency representing him
Now, I guess he could fire his agency...not sure what the penalty would be though.

The agency works for Bosa. If Bosa wanted to be practicing and playing he would be.

You don't know that for sure. Again, the conditions Bosa was asking for were in both Wentz's and Elliott's contracts per ESPN. So the question is, would Jerry or the Eagles bent on the Bosa demands?
To be fair... all the top 3 picks have either offset language OR deferred signing bonus...SD wants both and they do that for every contract including Rivers and Gates.....they won't bend for a rookie

According to ESPN, that's not true. Wentz has both the deferment and offset language in his contract. As does Elliott (granted he was the #4 pick). ESPN certainly could be wrong.

You're right bkight13...there hasn't been a holdout this long since the rookie wage scale has been put in place. Why? Because a compromise comes on which one to put in the agreement, offset language or deferred bonus language. Maybe the Chargers are cash strapped hence why they don't want to write hefty checks upfront.

Just strange this is the 1st time it has occurred since the wage scale was instituted.

I read that every top 3 pick since the new CBA has one or the other but not both......either way they aren't worth fighting a war over......he would still get 18m of his entire 26m contract by March of next year, 10m at signing........EE deferred 40% of his signing bonus at #4

According to the ESPN article, there wasn't a player picked 2nd, 3rd or 4th in the 2012-15 drafts that signed deals with both provisions. This was the first year that two players in the Top 4 agreed to both provisions.

Doesn't make Bosa in the wrong here. In fact this is just another scumbag move in the history of Spanos

This guy is something else. The chargers ocfered him a contract that would given him the 2nd most cash yr one amongst rookies. And he rejected. This guy is a idiot.

This is a silly reason to be happy that we didn't draft Bosa.

If he sucks as a pro, then we should be happy. If Elliott plays like a future Hall-of-Famer, then we should be happy. If we succeed because of who we drafted, then we should be happy.

I disagree....get your butt to camp rookie......his Dad was a 1st holdout back in the 80s and turned out to be a huge bust.....SD is offering the years, the money and it is 100% guaranteed.......if they want offsets and a deferment, so what...

They have some really non-standard conditions on it.

their conditions are the standard language.......waiving it for top 3 picks has become the new thing.....SD doesn't want to give a rookie something they wouldn't give Rivers or Gates
