Why does it matter how old I am? Do I have to be 50+ years old to appreciate a movie? I think not.

And thanks for actually explaining each category you stated. I could say that about every movie that I think is good too.

Just because I think it is a dull movie doesn't mean it is one, it is my opinion and I'm sticking to it. Deal with it.

Step Brothers ranks at the top of the list...Even greats like pulp fiction, scar face can get boring after a few times. Step brothers is always funny, i wish it was longer.

Kind of reminds me of inception. I heard that it was a great movie but I just couldn't stop falling to sleep before the midway point. It just never had enough to it to keep me awake through to the better parts, if there were any. I was kinda tired at the time so maybe I'm not being fair to it.

I love thinking movies where you have to pay real close attention so I loved that movie.

Had a bunch of friends where they couldn't stay awake and just thought it was boring also.

Just wondering, what makes it so good to you?

In GF 2 the look Michael gives the hitman as he hugs Friedo at their mothers wake is worth watching the movie alone.

Pacino is incredible in that movie.

Oh and on topic...Lampoons Christmas Vacation, Raising Arizona, The Hangover, Kingpin and Hoosiers.

A few already mentioned on here such as Patton, Kelly's Heroes, etc.

Mine:

Big Jake (Jacob McCandles? I thought you was dead...Not hardly.)
Sons of Katie Elder
Jaws
Shawshank Redemption
LOTR, any of the three
Watchmen
Ghost and the Darkness
Star Wars, the first three, and not the latest three abominations

To be perfectly candid, just about any war movie, minus the one with Michael J. Fox in it. If AMC has an old war movie on, the remote doesn't get any love for the rest of the time.

Holy Cow. "Rookie of the Year" as the best sports movie? Not even close.

Baseball..."Bull Durham" or "Field of Dreams"
Football..."The Longest Yard" (The original not the remake) or "Remember the Titans." "Rudy" is excellent.
Hockey..."Slapshot" I think this is the best sports movie ever.
Basketball..."Hoosiers"

As for movies that I could watch over and over and not tire of...

Westerns...

"The Cowboys" (actually about 12 to 15 John Wayne westerns)
"Lonesome Dove"
"Tombstone"
"The Outlaw Josey Wales" (probably a half dozen Eastwood westerns)

War Movies...

"The Great Escape"
"The Longest Day"
"Patton"
"The Dirty Dozen"

Classics...

"Cool Hand Luke"
"Jaws"
"The Godfather" (Part I)
"The Sting"
"The Shawshank Redemption"
"The Green Mile"

Comedies...

"Monty Python and the Holy Grail"
"Young Frankenstein"
"Dumb & Dumber"
"Caddyshack"

The thing is, The Matrix was a thinking movie. It may not have been quite as in depth, but it was, and I loved it. It's one of my top movies. I was probably too tired at the time and I'm not being fair to the movie. It just didn't have enough umph to keep me awake and I probably didn't have the energy to think.

The OP said to list "that one movie," but it's hard to list just one (as you can see by this thread).

If I had to list just one, it would probably be McLintock.

Some others that I never tire of watching are:

Midnight Run
Dumb & Dumber
Forgetting Sarah Marshall
Christmas Vacation
Caddyshack
Forrest Gump

These aren't necessarily my favorite movies, but there's something about them that make me want to watch them over and over. Maybe it's because most of them are comedies and I can just sit back and laugh and not have to watch too closely.

My favorites are:

McLintock
Dances With Wolves
Field of Dreams
The Natural
The Untouchables
Braveheart

Doomsday

Lot of movies on there that I can appreciate and will watch. The only ones that popped up in my head are a couple of parodies.
