The 2009 NBA Finals Thread...Lakers win series (4-1)

Who was it that stopped Kobe last year in the finals? I'll admit I don't remember the series much but something tells me no one shut him down last year either.

You just don't shut Kobe down. You worry about shutting everyone else down and let Kobe do what Lebron tried to do, win by himself.

The Lakers most likely will win this series, and probably win it pretty easily (Unfortunately) but I'm certainly pulling for the Magic to beat them.

Dont underestimate Michael Peitrius on the defensive end. He's no slouch.

That being said, no one can guard Kobe. He's the best in the game

Uhh duh. Of course no one can guard Kobe. Let him get 40 points a game. They usually lose when that happens. The Magic have the enforcer in the paint to not allow Gasol and Bynum from getting those garbage put back points. If your using the "no one can stop Kobe" excuse then that's pretty lame. LeBron got his points and they still lost. Dwight will take care of Gasol just like the regular season and Ariza and Odom are JAGS.

Just a little OWNAGE being served.

Game 1 at Orlando
Gasol-11 points,7 rebounds.Hardly dominant
Bynum-3 points,1 rebound.YIKES
Kobe-41 points,8 rebounds.He got his.
Odom-4 points,8 rebounds.Double YIKES
Ariza-5 points,5 rebounds.Blah

Result-loss
FG %=41%

Howard-18 points,12 rebounds.3 blocks. Strong game

Ok so it was at Orlando so HC advantage played a huge role in the Magic winning right? They can't shoot that terrible again, they just had an of night.they'll come back strong in LA after adjustments....oops...maybe not.

Game 2 at LA
Gasol-13 points,9 rebounds. Ya he sure is dominating Howard.
Bynum-14 points,3 rebounds.Pathetic
Bryant-28 points,13 rebounds,11 assists.Triple double.They had to win right?
Odom-17 points,9 rebounds.Meh.
Ariza-7 points,3 rebounds.Non factor

Result=loss
FG %=39%

Howard-25 points,20 rebounds. Where's Gasol???

Sidenotes
24 combined three's for Orlando in those two games.12 each game.

Goodnight Lakers. You've been outmatched. BYEEEE

You are forgetting Jameer Nelson KILLED D-FISH averageing 27 or so points in the games. Despite what they want LA to think, Nelson will not be playing.

Alston is not 1/4 of the player Nelson is. Sad thing is her is still better than Fisher.

You do realize your predections have gone terrible wrong, and that you are now assuring the Lakers win the championship.

No one..The Black Gardner Snake will get his..there's no doubt. But Byebye Gasol. Byebye Ariza.ByeBye BYEnum.Buhbye Odom. If the Magic swept them I wouldn't be surprised. Lakers D is inconsistant and is way to soft.

Man I can't wait to see Gasol get abused on both ends!!!!!!!!

:lmao2: :lmao: You're not on the same planet as most of us right now. How do those clouds feel?

The Lakers had a far inferior squad surrounding Kobe last year., The Celts were able to double team Kobe every single game and guys like Vlad Radmanovic, Ronny Turiaf, etc were very unreliable. Let's not forget Bynum didn't even play in the post season last year.

This year it's a total different story. You double Kobe and guys like Gasol, Ariza, & Odom will eat you for lunch. Then there's the new backcourt that's even more stacked than ever before. Shannon brown (originally just a toss in for the Adam Morrison trade) has turned out to be a spark of energy and points every tinme he hits the court. Farmar is one year improved, as is Vujacic and Bynum. Yeah. Bynum may not be back to his old mid season dominant self but he will put in some good minutes off the bench and when your boy Howard is resting (since he obviously can't play 48 min) our 2nd unit is going to rip Orlando to shreads. It will be all about the matchups and I will take the prowess of one Phil Jackson over Spaz Van Gundy anyday. :D

Mannnn. Cmon Thursday!

As a Laker fan I can see the difference in the "teamwork" displayed this year versus the individual motives that were on display last year. ;)

You better hope they play to their potential.

I bet my friend 20 dollars that they wouldn't lose more than 4 games the entire postseason. They have the talent that they could've made that happen, but they get lazy, and their fundamentals go to ****. Not to mention they get caught Kobe watching when they need baskets at times, and although he is the best in the league, he cant do it all the time.

Yet when they really buckle down and go about their business, and share the ball and create open looks, there's not a team in the league who can beat them in a 7 game series.

Why would you make that bet? You bet against the field? That's almost as ridiculous as thinking the Cavs were going to sweep the playoffs.
