Mike McCarthy? Really?

I'd say that's a fairly bad list, overall. Though JG might be on my own list, too, to be honest. His team needs to return to 2014 form to keep this show on the road.

Yeah, even Marvin Lewis is a bit of a suprise. But after awhile making it to the dance isnt enough. Garrett seems to have 9 lives as he enters yet another win or get fired season. McCarthy on that list is a stretch.

Of course when I think about it sadly Lewis looks good to me because at least they seem to make the playoffs with regularity. Thats just depressing.

unless this team quits on Garrett like Wade Phillips team did, Jerry isn't going to fire Garrett under any circumstances...

No chance. We could go 0-16 and he would still be here next year. Marinelli or Linehan as the fall guy
Highly unlikely
As yourselves, if the front office was so dedicated to Garrett why did they let him go into 2014 with one year left on his contract. Coaches are always extended before the reach the last year of their contract. Not doing so makes themna lame duck.

The front office isnt nearly as unflinchingly dedictated to Garrett as some believe. I highly doubt he survives another playoffless season

I'm curious on the next hire. Does Jerry kind of sort of but not really get humble, take a step back and pull a Parcells or does he bring in another puppet?
Big question is who is the next " Parcells"

There best hope is if NO misses the playoffs and they fire Payton

First Garrett was saved by being given a chance to build the team his way, then he was saved by Romos injury, then he was saved with an actual quality season, and then again saved by injuries.......lol Im all for continuance but please make him do something this year or get rid of him. Hes been given every opportunity.

Don't believe it for a second. Even after this year Garrett will still have historic levels of salary that would need to be eaten. Maybe in 2018.

Yeah I have to agree, this team would have to majorly implode with Romo at the helm for JG to have to worry about anything at all.

But if we don't make the playoffs with Romo playing 16 games, JG better watch his back even with all that money he is due.

Marvin Lewis should have been fired years ago. And last year...there was no excuse in that Pittsburgh game watching the Bengals implode like that. That's on the coach.

I disagree.

The Bengals gotta know who they are.

Lewis has brought consistency and the team has gotten better and has never really had great QB play.

They should be happy and settle for that because at the end of the day they are the Bengals and they need to just go about their Bengal life of not ever really being a legit contender.

For Marvin Lewis to regularly make the playoffs in a division that includes solid franchises like Baltimore and Pittsburgh, it seems silly to think that the Bungles could do better. When you regularly lose your QB just before or in the playoffs themselves (or have some idiotic fools on defense make emotional mistakes that compound an unlikely fumble), I hardly think that the solution is to start over with a new coach.

But they are the Bengals. They'll find a way to screw it up.

The Bengal life.....that made me chuckle.

While I wish Garrett was #1 on that list, he is more likely to get a contract extension than being fired .

Yes, but thay also doesnt mean he wont get fired. 3 straight losing season will be a very hard sell

I actually agree with you. I just think its funny how he has always had a built in excuse. I also think there is something to be said for giving a coach some time to instill his philosophies into the organization. I was pretty sick of him and then we went 12-4 and I became encouraged again. Last year was deflating but you saw the excuses from a mile away and I wasnt upset he kept his job going into this year but it is now way past time to put up or shut up.

Sorry I think I misunderstood you. I was wondering if Payton could actually have his contract expire at an opurtune time for us.

Really and who got a big fat contract extension.......Jason Garrett is Jerry's little Pet, remember Jerry hired Garrett before he hired a head coach which is NEVER done by professional run Football franchise........and the front office is and always will be Jerry Jones as long as he's alive, he has the FINAL say on matters as he's stated time and time again.....He isn't going to fire his pet Jason Garrett unless this team quits on him...
