unless this team quits on Garrett like Wade Phillips team did, Jerry isn't going to fire Garrett under any circumstances...

So this is now the standard, just make sure that the team doesn't quit and you get to keep your job? I guess it's like following a bad comedienne, you don't have to be funny you just need to not be him.

I'm curious on the next hire. Does Jerry kind of sort of but not really get humble, take a step back and pull a Parcells or does he bring in another puppet?

I kinda sorta wonder when Jason Garrett's training by the FO is done. When will they declare he is ready for primetime?

Mike McCarthy? Really?

I'd say that's a fairly bad list, overall. Though JG might be on my own list, too, to be honest. His team needs to return to 2014 form to keep this show on the road.
hard to say. my own patience with garrett is done. i rallied in his corner and clapped along with him hoping things would gel but he's just not got a strong enough personality to overpower jones. not many do.

i do believe anything short of a playoff win this year he's gone.

If I roll my eyes any harder, they'll fall out of my head.

> becomes head coach
> cuts all old pricy veterans
> rebuilds offensive line
> starts to rebuild defense
> one year removed from 12-4 season; season after riddled with key injuries
> BETTER RETURN TO 2014 FORM OR I WANT FIRED COACHES

You have fully assimilated into the Zone culture. Congratulations.

The 8 NFL Coaches Most Likely To Get Fired This Season

August 10, 2016

Being named the head coach for one of the 32 franchises in the National Football League is the absolute peak of the football coaching industry. NFL coaches have one of the most prestigious jobs in all of professional sports. It is the highest level of the most popular sport in the United States, and these jobs usually comes with seven-figure salaries.

Unfortunately, there are also aspects of being a head coach in the NFL that make the position one of the most stressful jobs in the world. It’s not uncommon for NFL coaches to work 80-plus hours per week. They often have to fire members of their coaching staff, and every September they have to end the NFL dreams of dozens of players. While those factors are undoubtedly stress inducing, none of them compare to the extremely fickle job security NFL coaches face on a weekly basis.

There are a handful of coaches around the league who can sleep comfortably at night knowing that their jobs are safe. But for most, the pressure is on to win this year. With that being said, here is a look at eight NFL coaches who are entering the 2016 NFL season firmly entrenched in the hot seat.

1. Rex Ryan, Buffalo Bills

2. Gus Bradley, Jacksonville Jaguars

3. Jeff Fisher, Los Angeles Rams

4. Jason Garrett, Dallas Cowboys

After a disastrous 2015 season, everybody in Dallas is feeling the pressure to win in 2016. With only one winning season in his five years as the team’s full-time head coach, Jason Garrett is likely feeling more heat than anybody.

After losing several key players to injuries in 2015, the Cowboys will be at full-strength this year (assuming they are fortunate enough to have all of their key players stay healthy during training camp). Anything short of a playoff appearance could result in Garrett losing his job next offseason. While we are willing to give Garrett a pass for the 2015 season, this team is simply too talented to not be a serious NFC contender in 2016.

5. Marvin Lewis, Cincinnati Bengals

6. Mike McCoy, San Diego Chargers

7. Jim Caldwell, Detroit Lions

8. Mike McCarthy, Green Bay Packers

Jerry will never do it. He enjoys his morning coffee being brought to him in his slippers too much.

Agreed

If the Boyz dont win atleast 9 games this year, that will make Garrett's record just one winning season in 6 complete years

In the NFL, if you only break .500 one single time in 6 years, you deserve to be fired considering free agency and parity

At some point results matter and Garrett is quickly reaching that point

You left out the part about learning on the job that botched at least 2 wins per year

But not to worry, Jerry said the team will benefit from all those mistakes in the future

I wonder how Romo and Witten feel that a good chunk of their prime years was wasted on a "trainee coach"......Jerry's words, not mine

Garrett will get at least another year because of the young defense,,, it's not his fault if it's not ready yet. Personally I think he's done a good job rebuilding considering the GM's conservative approach to FA. This year or next I expect the Cowboys to be a solid playoff team.

So Garrett gets like 6-7 years to rebuild the roster and can suck every year outside of one fluke season?

Man, the other coaches in the NFL must be so pissed that they actually have to win some games to keep their jobs

Jones will not fire him as he knows he's as responsible for the product on the field by constantly undermining Garrett and pushing down his throat the likes of Hardy and Ro McClain and striping him of playcalling duties on offense. Jones is the walk around coach. Garrett is the company's spokesperson.

You seem to be hung up on walk year so I'll explain it to you......Where is Garrett going to walk too????? There is no other NFL team clamoring to hire him as a head coach, in fact NO OTHER TEAM in the NFL would hire him as a head coach, he'd be lucky to get a job as a quarterbacks coach somewhere and NO OTHER team in the NFL would hire Jerry as their GM......Jerry wants Garrett to be the current day Tom Landry, he's not but that what Jerry thinks....I like Garrrett when it comes to trying to instill a code of conduct and getting the right kind of player in here but he's undermined time and time again by Jerry....Garrett likes being the head coach of the Cowboys and Jerry like Garrett as his head coach, there's nothing else to it, any other team would have fired both of them a long long time ago!!
2014 was his walk year. He went into 2014 with one year left on his deal. Teams dont let coaches they value go into a season with one year left. Jones made Garrett coach for his job

And you go on continuing to make excuses and use revisionist history for mediocrity and failure.

Talk about "rolling eyes".

Rebuilding from the ground up through the draft takes time. 2015 was the fluke, not 2014.

I think anything less than the division title is grounds for termination in Jerry's mind. That is, unless Romo goes down again. Then Garrett might buy himself another year.

If that's what you believe, then in the words of Bill Parcells, consider yourself sucked!!

I dont like JG as a head coach but he would make a good GM, been saying that for awhile. If injuries are limited this season with Romo playing all 16 and we still don't make the playoffs...........I think there is a good chance that he is gone. Maybe he stays with the organization in some capacity though.

I wasn't thinking about the balance on his contract, actually.
