It is surprising so many teams do it. You can do free agency, and then the draft. Trading a pick for a player who needs a new contract anyways feels like a waste of resources . You still have to outbid peopleI know others probably disagree, but I would never trade draft picks unless it was for higher picks or a larger quantity of picks, especially in today’s NFL.
The only exception would be if the team is having a great season and loses a key player, but even then it would have to be a player that is vital and not replaceable by another player already on the team.
49ers drafted RB Isaac Guerendo a lttle later in the 4th.Headline should be for the 49ers. The trade wasn’t costly at all for the Cowboys. Who someone else picked doesn’t mean the team would’ve picked them. They could’ve just as easily picked a bust.
But he was still the main catalyst in Dallas and their SB teams. There you go and Jimmy didn't win anything in Miami.
Because he's desperate. Why is that relevant to this discussion?
LolBecause he's desperate.
Being one of only 2 NFC teams to never make a title game in the 21st century suggests it's a much bigger problem for Dallas than nearly all other teams. Not a problem exclusive to the Cowboys.
Even though most Cowboys fans want to think so.
Once again, Jimmy won the NCAA championship in Miami. I will never let you jerks get away with omitting that every time you try to trash one of the greatest coaches of all time. There you go and Jimmy didn't win anything in Miami.
He's lying about that intentionally as I keep pointing out every time these guys try to trash Jimmy as a coach. Anyone can simply google the facts about Johnson's time as Miami U coach. Why is that relevant to this discussion?
big dog is right. Every team in the NFL can list their bad moves drafting and/or trading draft picks. Some moves are worse than others. Not ever ”rolling the dice” on a deal is worse than not trying at all.Being one of only 2 NFC teams to never make a title game in the 21st century suggests it's a much bigger problem for Dallas than nearly all other teams.
Unless you want to make the case that Jerry is a competent GM. Go for it.
if you are going to trade for him, use himI dont mind trading a pick, but we keep doing it for guys who have busted already. Lance halfway made sense, maybe, but Mingo is mind numbing.
Talk about twisting my post around. I was responding to "We've made some bad decisions with draft picks". All I said was other teams do also not just the Cowboys. Which is true. You are bringing up stuff that has nothing to do with what I posted.Being one of only 2 NFC teams to never make a title game in the 21st century suggests it's a much bigger problem for Dallas than nearly all other teams.

We keep doing it? I'd like to see that list.I dont mind trading a pick, but we keep doing it for guys who have busted already.

We've made some bad decisions with draft picks the last couple of years that is really hurting this team.
Mazi, Guyton, Schoonmaker, Lance, Mingo.
Team We Always Draft Well needs to get it together.
