The costly Lance trade

Let's start with now and see what happens.
Those 3 games against the Bungles, Giants and Panthers have to be considered for what they were BUT the team playing their butts off against the Bucs was IMPRESSIVE!

That was a real team with everything on the line and I was thrilled to see them play well.

I always strive to be honest about their shortcomings AND their good performances.

Well done Cowboys!

The Bucs gave them everything they had and they couldn't beat them.

And Trey Lance’s total cap hit this year is more than Saquon Barkley’s cap hit this year. Let that marinate while thinking about all the GMs who find a way to work the cap in order to bring in the missing pieces needed to win despite having the same financial challenges we do.

Having a GM that knows how to manage the salary cap is worth more in on-field results than a GM who crows about how much his team is worth and how beautiful his stayjum looks when the sun blinds his star receiver.
great post bob, worth more than 1 like lol but can only give one.
This is a billionaire hillbilly's team, and he likes playing GM so.............

This is why Romo should have left, and any other player that wants to have a serious chance at a ring.
If Parsons signs here, he is either stupid or just playing for $
Dak could have left, but chose to stay for the $, which shows me he doesnt really care about a ring.

We had a fair amount of luck at the end so it was more TB lost it than we won it
and that is ignoring how the TB dline manhandled our O line.

In hindsight, Lance didn’t make sense either.

But I think the clear pattern is an owner who repeatedly tries to ‘game the system’ where he thinks he’s acquiring talent at a discount.

Whether that be drafting questionable characters like Randy Gregory, or injured players like Jaylen Smith, to name but a few.

Now he trades for proven busts like he thinks he knows better. And the (lack of) results clearly proves that he doesn’t.

But when there’s no accountability, it’s merely someone else’s problem.
jerry thinks he is smarter than everyone else. So he thinks he can "fix" these player and have a cheap star.
He never gave up on gregory, gregory gave up on him lol. And he never fixed gregory or any of the others.
Jerry loves a bargain, and his boy is just plain cheapo.

to me TB lost because bowles did that stupid go for it in 1st qrt. gave cowboys a short field, and that td was what gave them the game later.

The Cowboys played an awesome game.

We've made some bad decisions with draft picks the last couple of years that is really hurting this team.

Mazi, Guyton, Schoonmaker, Lance, Mingo.

Team We Always Draft Well needs to get it together.

Kelvin Joseph was in the 21 draft, also not that long ago.

We've been drafting horribly of late.

I wanna know what the hell has happened to Will McClay !
He has been a very good talent evaluator up until the last couple of years - are the Jones's simply overiding him, or what is going on ? We know the dumb trades are on Jerry, but the last couple of drafts have not been what we were used to.
If we are only a draft centric team, we need to be way, way better !
He never was that good. Several busts round 1/2 busts. Jaylon, Trysten, LVE, Connor Williams. Those type picks are what keeps us from being super bowl contenders.

That happened when people were still using cassettes.....let's try something significant in at least this century
I agree, that was before Jerry got his first face lift, and it's about time for another one.

So 3 trades in 20 years qualifies as "we keep doing it" when I can point out trades for Cook and Gilmore just a couple of years ago that worked out well.

Two fourth rounders for bust in two consecutive years.

There's no other context needed. It is what it is, which is stupid.

It doesn't mean we suck at everything. It doesn't erase past superbowls or any other nonsense you're alluding to.

You Jerry fan boys are a trip. Please go on..

You just told me you wouldn't have traded for Charles Haley in 1992.
I would be willing to bet my house that it was Jimmy Johnson who saw the value and talent in Haley and got that trade done, not Jerry.

All 32 teams can put together a list of draft picks that didn’t work out as hoped.

I'm sure other NFL front offices high-five each other when they see Jerry Jones' name pop up on the caller ID during trade season.
