They should have let Tank leave and accepted a 3rd round comp pick.
I said that your cap numbers need work. And clearly I was right. And you can't handle that.
Like I said, you're ignorant and rude to people and then somehow think that you're the 'victim'. You're not. You invite conflict and animosity so you 'get' what you 'deserve'.
You're clearly not mature enough to handle being corrected.
Yep and I told you they probably do need work.
What was it that got you? The word "expert"?
Too funny. Only a guy that tries hard to be known as an expert would get offended by that.
The gig is up.......................you ARENT and EXPERT. You just go look it up on Spotrac.
As I said, you act like the jerk and then blame the other guy for taking offense. Go look in the mirror.
Vs being a clueless blowhard who pulls things out of his ***? Yep. Guilty of actually looking up the facts.
Exacly, you were the one that started insulting me. All I did was call you an "expert". LOL
Thanks for posting the truth that you were the aggressor.
But keep it coming. I am enjoying this.
By the way, you still havent looked it up. You are avoiding it sooo much I am beginning to think that I was more right then you want to admit.
By correcting you on your false cap claims and saying your numbers needed work? So you can dish it out but can’t take it? Another wonderful character trait I see.
I'm not the guy that has to look it up. Unlike you, I actually know what the cap and player contracts look like next year. But you have fun in your ignorance.
Probably. I use avg salary. Zeke at 15 and Jaylon at 12. Cooper is around 22 is he not?
Here's where/what they can cut from next year's team to get under the cap:
Currently, as it sits, they are 10M and change over the 2022 cap.
DeMarcus Lawrence - if they cut him, they will avoid his 19.5M salary, but will eat 19M in dead money.
Amari Cooper - if they cut him before the 5th day of the 2022 league year, they will avoid his 20M salary, but will eat 6M in dead money.
La'el Collins - if they cut him before the 5th day of the 2022 league year, they will avoid his 10M salary, but will eat 13.95M in dead money.
Tyron Smith - if they cut him, they will avoid his 13.5M salary, but will eat 12.015M in dead money.
Jaylon Smith - if they cut him before the 5th day of the 2022 league year, they will avoid his 9.2M salary, but will eat 6.8M in dead money.
Anthony Brown - if they cut him, they will avoid his 5M salary, but will eat 1.5M in dead money.
Ezekiel Elliott cannot be cut next year. His 2022 salary fully guaranteed this March. If they cut him, they eat 30M in dead money. Zero relief.
One other note on Jaylon Smith - his salary is guaranteed for 2022 for injury, and fully guarantees on the fifth day of the league year. They would have been advised to have cut him this year to eat the dead money now, and avoid the possibility of another 9.2M salary guaranteeing if he has a season ending injury.
The places to look for relief next year are Cooper, Jaylon Smith and Brown. The others offer little overall relief.

Not hijacking the thread but just clear......Jaylon's contract was NOT a bad signing at the time, in fact, it was a good decision, keyword, at the time. A few things we have to remember his new contract signed before 2019 season,
The point is in hindsight yes one can say Jaylon has a bad contract but the decisions and contract by Jerry and Stephen were right calls. They thought they were signing their ascending younger starter ( who they invested three years of rehab) at a discount a year early before facing a long-term contract or tag.
- 2019 was going to be a contract year (would have been 2020 free agent after being drafted 2016)
- 2018 was his first season starting 16 games playing at a high level.......signaling the drop foot issue was healed and behind him.
- 2018 stats......121 tackles, 82 solo, 4 sacks, 2 forced fumbles
- 2019 was the first season with LVE
- Remember he would have been a 2020 free agent w/o the new 2019 deal. The 2020 franchise tag for LBer was $15.8M.
- Jaylon Smith signed a 6 year, $68,421,000 contract with the Dallas Cowboys, including a $5,000,000 signing bonus, $35,406,678 guaranteed, and an average annual salary of $11,403,500. In 2021, Smith will earn a base salary of $7,200,000, while carrying a cap hit of $9,800,000 and a dead cap value of $16,600,000.
- After investing/waiting THREE YEARS for him to fully recover no way Stephen and Jerry were going to let him walk after his solid 2018 season but had no interest in tag him knowing it would likely cost $15M for one season.
- Instead, they signed him a year early for an average $12M guaranteed 3 years.
- Waiting until 2020 would have given them 3 options; tag him for $15.4M, a long-term deal likely close to tag value, or let him walk ( certainly was not a PREFERRED option after the way he and LVE played together.
Since we are already over next years cap it kinda seems like that comes first before a shopping spreeSure, but instead of signing guys that will actually help the team with this cap space they do things like give Jaylon Smith a massive contract he doesn't deserve.

How about the decision made in May to stick with him and that contract?
There certainly won’t be any shopping spree. By the way things look, it will be a mass exodus instead. We’re set up to likely lose the entire 2018 draft class, and THEN SOME.

No excuse but I wonder if this isn't Quinn's call. Considering he's replaced Jaylon as a starter, I can't imagine he DIDN'T know it was likely in May. BTW why May?????
2021 salary fully guarantees on the 5th league day of 2021 (3/21/21) (injury guaranteed now
Honestly, is the ever really a shopping spree? But I agree they have some tough decisions on a lot of young players after the season.
