This thread isn't a bash of the Cowboys, out favorite team. This is about your individual perception about chinks in the Cowboys armor.

For instance prior to last year I would have said the Cowboys don't know anything about coaching up defensive backs to get ints or playing the ball. I'm not sure that is fixed but it is better.

I don't think the Cowboys know anything about drafting defensive ends. We seem to have a ton of ends but not very many good ones.

What are yours?

Probably the biggest chink is developing backup QB's. I think you can lay most of that on our QB
coaching staff or lack thereof. Where is David Lee when you need him?

I don't equate lack of ability of coaching and low production in games. I see it as talent acquisition.
Acquiring talent lately seems to be working out pretty well.
This season will be telling.
Red has learned more and more about game management. He will only get better.

Garrett's limited ability to anticipate problems and proactively address them.
Time management and substitution problems in the GB game are symptoms of the weakness.
Garrett's denial of the spike ball being a problem is even a clearer sign of the problem.

Creating pressure on the QB when they aren't getting home with their DL. Marinelli will blitz LB's and sometimes safties/CB's but I wish he would do it a little more when they just can't get home with the DL.

That just isn't his MO though.

Well the low hanging fruit here is quarterbacks but something less obvious would be evaluating linebackers. After Sean Lee their picks there have been poor with Jaylon Smith a wait and see.

Clock/game management/offensive philosophy/play calling...........Cowboys run the ball consistently to set up play action and go down the field and score and then the very next series, come out and throw the ball on three successive snaps, having to punt...too many gimmick plays in the red zone, passing on first and second down inside the 5 yard line, fade routes in the end zone and doing a better job moving Dez around in the offense, bringing him in motion, starting him in the backfield, lining him up in the slot, he's just not good enough to consistently start outside the hash marks to get open because his lack of burst off the line so why not get him in motion more prior to the snap across the formation..

Blitzing was the first thing that came to mind, though we were pretty effective with it late last season, and it sounds like we might be blitzing DBs a lot more this year.

We can't run a decent pick play to save a life.

For the money we've invested in it, we haven't had success rehabilitating troubled players here recently. Hardy, Rolando McClain, Josh Brent, and Gregory have all been failures for different reasons. Even guys like Pacman have gone on to better success elsewhere.

We had to have been one of the top redzone scoring offenses in the league last year.

About the importance of a WR with blazing speed.
About how to leave DL at their natural or best position, instead of constantly moving them around.
About route running for a 1st down, still seems too many 1/2 yard short plays. And this includes Witten.
About using more slants on to get a 1st down when needed. Use Dez more for that, like Irvin did.
About not using that quick out too often, and not to get picked like GB did in the playoff game...seen that one from the start, why didn't they know this. Dak needs an option not to throw that.

About, and this one is the biggest of them all....we haven't done much since 1996 when Rowdy evolved...he needs to go, why do they not see this....

How to be creative with gadget plays / players. I have no confidence this team would know how to use a Tyreek Hill or Christian McCaffrey type of player. They tried with Lucky Whitehead and maybe he's just terrible but it never worked.

The obvious one to me is our pass game. I have always felt our routes have been limited due to personnel, the very obvious one being Bryant.

I'm not saying it's soely on Bryant, it has appeared to me, that our players that catch passes are capable of running a handful of routes.
