Well when you refuse to hire a FO staff and give employees 3 positions you are saving money to the bottom line. That does not come from then Cap.
That's not due to money, it's due to keeping as much power as possible in the family's and the family friends' hands.

Geez, the man's a BILLIONAIRE, a few staff salaries here and there even Jerry doesn't worry about.

Money has nothing to do with it, Jerry wants another SB trophy where he gets the lion's share of the credit, that's all and everything to Jerry as far as the Cowboys are concerned.

The Cowboys issues are very simple. Jerry and family are great money makers but bad roster builders. They also promote a marketing first and competition second culture.

At some point you would think you’ve made enough money and would like to focus on winning another championship. But Jerry and kin haven’t reached that point. Hopefully they do soon.

It's not about money. It's all about self-aggrandizement and ego stroking.

I think what hurts the most is that Jerry Jones practically started out with something very special. I give him full credit as an OWNER for having the ability to recruit Jimmy Johnson when so many other teams were looking at him after just winning the national championship.

Jerry Jones made a huge concession to Jimmy Johnson, practically a blank check to build a team and full authority in football related matters. Jerry would stick to the financial and marketing end of the franchise.

Everything was great, the team was getting stronger and stronger...fast! You could see greatness as it grew. If not for an Aikman injury late in 1990, the Cowboys could have reached the playoffs in Jimmy's 2nd year and after just going 1-15 the previous season.

The next season told us that the question wasn't "if" they could compete for Super Bowl, it was "when". This was also the time when we discovered that Jerry has made himself the GM. We all knew who built this team. It was the HC who told us from the very beginning exactly how he was going to build the team and what kind of team that was going to be.

Stories were told. One of them involved Jerry Jones's behavior and how he wanted to be perceived by the media. They even planted an unconnected telephone next to him which he picked up when he knew cameras were rolling.

Somewhere along the way, Jerry snapped.

He was already getting more media coverage than any other NFL franchise owner. He was initially ridiculed as some hillbilly rich guy but they were all eating crow at this point. Also, he introduced new marketing concepts that would go on to earn billions of dollars for the league.

Somehow, that wasn't enough. Jimmy was a rising star in the NFL coaching ranks. He was getting a lot of attention and it just skyrocketed for the next two championship years. I think Jerry was envious. I also think he made the mistake of thinking that it looked easy.

I believe he expected to get more attention and the harder he tried, the less respect he earned from the real architects. This culminated in an incident between him and some coaches that involved the consumption of alcohol.

Jerry said this, so Jimmy said that.....and Dallas Cowboys Heaven was gone as quick as it came.

There was 6-7 years as a dominant NFL team when there should have been at least twice that many.

I'm not much of a Barry Switzer fan but I did have to appreciate his response when he found out his two former college players split.: "How in the ___ did you _____this up?"

I never did either but it's a done deal they're too many Jones in line to run this team for decades to come.
They are getting exactly what they want the most profitable team super bowls do not guarantee the most profit staying relevant does and all their players have adopted the same philosophy pad your stats don't take risks make business decisions score the big contract and extend your window of play as long as you possibly can.

Us old school fans are the only people with super bowl aspirations the new generation they just want to market themselves and make money super bowl is nothing but a one-day party and some trinkets it doesn't show them the money that Jerry's generational wealth shows them
So many people miss the point you are making. The behavior you see from players today...has been role modeled by Jerry for years!!!!!!!! The FANS....we are the real suckers. I don't wish nothing on anybody....BUT....BUT......if Jerry were to leave this world....that will be the most pivotal point in my fandom...and the fandom for all of us that were around for those 90s teams. If we do not do something drastic in that moment....we are looking at another 20+ years of NONSENSE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Like you said....there are so many Jones family members already lined up to continue this FOOLISHNESS...there will be no end in sight!!!

It's been the same problem since 1994 and we only won in spite of the front office that year and next. We haven't gotten close since.
THIS front office has ZERO Super Bowls.

THIS front office has NEVER made a conference championship game!!!!!

THIS front office has 5 playoff wins since 1996!!!!!

THIS front office is averaging ONE...ONE...playoff win every ~6 years!!!!

I am just going to enjoy the season as it unfolds. I do not let the FO ruin my everyday life.

If they have a great season, and make it to the playoffs, great. Then go from there.
If they don’t make it, maybe Jerry realizes what needs to be done. Move on from the HC and QB.
But if they do make it, it shows they can win with less. As they already know they can’t win in the playoffs with what they think was more.

Just don’t sign any long term deals other than possibly CeeDee. Because if you do, and do not make the playoffs, or are one and done again. Then you are stuck with the players. And big contracts again. And possibly looking for a new HC that may not like the roster as is.
We've done this before, it's not the answer. You have a second team All Pro QB and a Super Bowl winning coach, why can't the front office win with that, should be the question.

Then why does the most valuable sports franchise in the world has the lowest paid coach in the NFL?

This is it in a nutshell, I'd add that Jerry waned to be known and accepted as a "football" guy by the rest of the NFL's front office personnel like Jimmy was. Jimmy got the credit for all the trades and great drafting, and rightfully so, Jerry was envious of that and still today fights to be accepted as a real "football" sadly he never will be.

The simplest yet unbelievable dream would be the hiring of an outside voice at GM, and then nailing both a head coach with genuine discipline/accountability and a truly elite franchise QB.

Yeah,
I did mention it was a dream.
I would say that if you had a real GM and a non meddling owner then you could win with the HC and QB that you have.

I'm a true believer that the Cowboys issues start with leadership and front office structure. I think that the best leader for an NFL team is the head coach, everything should come through him and the owner/front office should do everything to support that. If Jerry and Stephen are asked a football related question their answer should be "I don't know that a Mike question, ask him". Jerry and Stephen loves the spotlight and they continue to want to let everyone know that they are in charge, while doing this they have become the "faces" of the Dallas Cowboys, Jerry himself has become a celebrity and he loves it. So much so that he's only hired two Alphas as head coach in his 35 years of ownership. Jimmy, when he first purchased the team and Bill and that was to get the stadium bill passed. He doesn't want those kind of coaches because he wants to get the credit for winning a super bowl and he wants to continue to run the front office like he he does.

The biggest issue with the Cowboys is that Stephen nor Jerry CAN'T GET FIRED. The reason that they don't make free agent moves is because THEY CAN'T GET FIRED.. The reason they don't sign players in a reasonable time is because THEY CAN'T GET FIRED. The reason that they speak on Micah's contract after his rookie year is because they know that they'll be around because THEY CAN'T GET FIRED. Other GMs and any other sports have a timeline on when they need to show results, if not they'll be fired. If they get fired they lose the salary that pays for their home in a gated community, kid's college, private schools so they are motivated to bring in first wave free agents and sign their own players players that have out performed their first contract because their ultimate goal is to win. Without that motivation of losing their livelihood then complacency and arrogance steps in and that's what has happened in Dallas. They don't make moves to improve this team because they don't have to. This combine someone ask the Bills GM about the risk he took when he moved up to pick Josh Allen, he said something like "it was an easy decision, if it didn't get a qb I was going to be fire or if Josh didn't work out I was going to get fired so I had to take the chance". This is what fear of losing you job does, it make you take a swing instead of keeping the bat on your should hoping for a walk.

The Joneses are too close to the money. When a GM is negotiating with a player they are negotiating with the owners money so they are trying field the best team possible because their job depends on it. When Jerry is negotiating they're doing it with their money so they take it personal, that's why players have agents so they don't have to hear the disparaging things said about them in negotiation, Jerry needs someone to negotiate these deals that is only concerned with fielding the best team possible instead of trying to win the negotiations and field the most fiscally responsible team possible. Stephen runs this team like an accountant.

If you've ever heard of a QB having arm arrogance (which means that he thinks he can make every throw due to his arm strength), the Joneses have time arrogance which means that because they won't lose their job that can take their time with everything. Think about this, if the Cowboys go 0-17 this season what will change in the front office? You're right........nothing.
The Team salary cap is maxed out.

They can’t sign big name UFAs because they don’t have enough free cap $$$.

This has been known for decades. If Jerry had accountability for himself like he’s had for his employees then he would’ve fired himself many years ago. It’s unfixable without self-correction. Jerry was horrible post Jimmy. Just horrible. Parcells righted the ship for a while, and Jerry improved, but not so much that drafting was still average and he kept Garrett here for seven years too long. At least, he has righted the ship some more with McClay and others and slightly taken a backseat. But there’s never going to be another GM until Jerry gets to the point where he physically and mentally can’t do the job.

Agree with 100% of this .......and the only thing the team potentially ruins is one playoff game per year. Some fans of other teams don't even get that privilege

You can't win with the QB you have. Switch Mahomes and Prescott, and it's the Cowboys winning SBs while the Chiefs go one and done against inferior competition.

The number one reason we haven't won anything since the 1990s is the FO's patent refusal to recognize how important the QB is and spending the proper capital to find him.

Only 4 other teams are as pathetic as the Dallas Cowboys when it comes to playoff success in the 21st Century, so there aren't that many other fans lacking our "privilege". It is likely that 2 or 3 of those are going to get it done over the next few seasons leaving only Dallas and Washington.

Mahomes wouldn't win here. We suck at DT.

Comfort and Complacency destroys businesses, organizations, government, and yes…. NFL franchises.
