The score was tied a 9-9 with 11:41 remaining in the 3rd quarter.

The INTs were in the 1st half.

The Niners 1 TD was after a Cowboys punt.
- i.e. They did not score the TD due to a short field after turnover.

Are the INTs really the reason the Cowboys lost?
The offense clearly couldn't hang onto the ball long enough for the defense to get rest. As a result they got wore out.

The int's didn't help, but the sputtering offense in the 2nd half is what lost the game.

lol. You just found the solution to the team's problem.

I give you a grade of C+....?

Cowboys!
I agree completely. But what we are admitting is that last years loss was mostly on the defense. As those were daks stats exactly.

Very hard to defend Dak in this game and it was possibly the worst game in his life to have a bad game. Yeah, I think we win if he'd played half as well as he did in Tampa. It's very unfortunate.
Bad game for sure. So maybe last years game doesn’t look so bad. Last years loss more on defense.

Agreed. So we agree the defense was the big reason we lost last year?
The last game, or in general? The defense was far from perfect. You wanted to get rid of Cooper they win with him. Gallup shouldn't even of been on the field.

The oline didn't hold up verse the niners last year. 2 of his main receivers this year Gallup included were the worst 3 in terms of seperation. Oline did good this game pass blocking wise. Dak doesn't elevate his players, Gallup was never a 2 resigning him was a monumental mistake, his catch to target rate has always been blah.

So Dak didn’t elevate lamb or Shultz?

What did those guys look like under rush?

Shultz was elevated, due to better weapons. Lamb has solidified himself as a no 1. This isn't the 90s, you need 3 at very least 2 good weapons, and it was only Lamb this year. What did Shultz really do this year? Look at every team that is left and try debating that Cowboys weapons are better. 3 of the 4 absolutely rofl stomp them and 1 of them has the best qb in the league at the moment.

With pollard underutilized cowboys weapons compared to high end teams are scant.

Purely speculative argument. But obviously if Dak and offense produce more points we have greater opportunity of winning.

We may have had a chance to win anyway if Maher hadn’t scared Mike from kicking a FG until it was desperation time and he had no choice. I’ll also never understand why we punted on 4th and 5 from the SF 40 with the game tied in the second half. Kick a 57 yard FG or go for it. Dak didn’t play poorly for the most part if you believe what others who watched the film and broke it down say, but he definitely cost us with the two INTs.
Yea, McCarthy goes for that 4th down all year long. Why get conservative there.

Not blaming the defense. Just saying those two missed opportunities could have dramatically changed the game or saved them.
There were some others as well. Can't remember who it was, but we dropped an interception earlier in the game, too. (May have been Barr.) So Purdy could have easily matched Dak on the number of interceptions thrown. In the playoffs, you rarely can afford to not capitalize on your opportunities, and we failed in several ways.

Agreed and I don't blame the whole defense I blame one player who came up small when he could have changed the game easily.

If you want to make business decisions give up being an athlete and become a businessman
I don't see it as a business decision. I see it as a corner who doesn't like contact flinching while trying to hit a bigger man and whiffing on the effort. There are other plays in the game where Diggs was in on the tackle and didn't make any business decision to avoid them. He just took his eye off the ball when he was bracing for contact that never came.

Yes, my point is that once the score was0 tied early in the 2nd half thar the first half didn't really matter.

Both teams had multiple drives after it was tied. After the tie:
- The Cowboys had 2 field goals.
- The Niners had a field goal and TD.
- They also had an extra point...
Everything matters, though. The game is a cumulation of what you did not just what you did in the second half.

I understand your point, but I don't think that you can discount the first-half failures because the game was tied early in the second half.

Those first-half interceptions could have been points for us instead of points for them and changed the outlook of the second half.
