It's a process
I doubt we ever get to the point where Garrett groupies admit he is just incompetent. It will be one excuse after another.
You already know that this year the excuse will be that we are rebuilding the defense so "what did you expect?"

These 3 clowns (Jerry Stephen and Jason) will take romo and witten down with them

It will be a long season unless we really luck out in the draft

Good to know you already have your ducks in a row.

A successful 2014 draft = we really LUCKED OUT! Therefore, NOBODY gets any credit!

Too bad that they apparently never saw the fact that Hatcher and Spencer would be free agents this year and that Ware's contract would be so costly.

If there was some way of possibly knowing that, maybe they would have at least devoted some part of the draft to preparing for it?

Oh well...

:(

Sorry, I didn't realize free agency and the draft was over. We're doomed!!!!!!!!!

Get back to me when we sign somebody who isn't a spare that nobody else wants.

We just lost two Pro Bowl caliber players and replaced them with scraps.

No sugar coating that.

So switching to a 4-3 and drafting 0 defensive lineman and one project linebacker was a good idea last year? People are forgetting our linebacker situation is pretty dire, because the dline is on life support right now.

I gave the credit for t Fred and Williams
They however, don't excuse the Escobar pick
Unlike you I can see both sides of an issue

Well, I'm eyeballing two theories for the 2014 season: one, the Ewing theory which basically means the team will band together like brothers and possibly rally the team to a playoff berth, even after losing their supposed "star", or "stars"—and I use those terms very loosely with Ware and Hatcher; Ware because he had the passion and leadership of a pomegranate; and Hatcher, who, in four years did jack diddly-squat until his contract year—and both of whom helped lead the Cowboys to the ignominious distinction of being the worst defensive unit in the entire NFL! Changes had to be made because, imo, neither one of them could lead a horse to water. But, if I were handing out the Mr. Nicest Guy award in all of football, I'd give one to Dware for sure.

The second theory is one I made up which states that when rock hits bottom, (i.e. Cowboys) it stays there . . . until someone comes along and picks it up. What we need on this defense is a Ray Lewis, not a Demarcus Ware or a Jason Hatcher. You can say a lot of bad things about Ray Lewis, but I, for one, will never question his passion for football, his leadership abilities, nor his fearlessness and ferociousness when he was out on the playing field. He was the very essence of what football is all about. Mark my words, Ray Lewis will end up being immortalized in Baltimore much like Johnny U, and Brooks Robinson. It won't take long either. That defense is clearly not the same without Ray Lewis.

Will I also write after next season that our defense was clearly not the same without DWare? Dog I hope not! We're already on the bottom. The law of physics will kick in at some point, right? As in, what comes down must go up; as in, what is the worst will become better? If that's true, DWare will have had nothing to do with that. He will only be remembered for taking the money and running.

Still, what we as fans of the Cowboys can do graciously, is to thank Demarcus and Jason for their contributions, understanding that when teams like Denver and Washington stupidly overpay for their services, and they accept that kind of money, it has become less about football for them, and more about preserving their bodies and taking care of their families. And when a player no longer has that fire in the belly, it is time to say goodbye.

The Dallas Cowboys did just that. And rightfully so, imo.

I agree with most, except Ware taking the money and running. Dallas never offered him a contract, they told him to see what he can get and get back with them; he did and they decided to le him go. Furthermore, I think he made the right decision; this team is going nowhere fast and now he at least has a chance to win a championship. That's not taking the money and running, that's just a smart end of career move for someone told to make it.
Hatcher on the other hand.... Did Dallas even try to retain him?

We made our bed, gambling on massive massive mistakes in self-evaluation.

Another lesson on how if our braintrust says they feel good about something, think the opposite because we are extremely poor at judging the abilities of our own talent.

I guess we made Spencers Knee go out and Ratliffs hamstring to tear and asked Josh Brent to get drunk and wreck his car. I don't know why our team doesn't use it's crystal ball like other teams.

So you'll stop complaining if we sign Melton and draft a DL? Yeah, right.

And unlike me, you apparently have the ability to label a TE a bust after one up-and-down season!

Move over, Ron Wolf!

Get back to WHEN that happens, OK?

I'm going by the FACTS of what HAS HAPPENED, not the wishful thinking of fandom.

You're right.

We could very well be looking at the next Anthony Fasano or Martellus Bennett for all we know!

Well, these same people you speak of, are the same that said if you get rid of Owens, we will contend. If you get rid of Gurode, we will contend. If you get rid of Ellis, we will contend. If you get rid of Wade phillips, and this guy and that guy, but keep Garrett. hahaha, it's so funny to me. To me, this is a sad day because one of the Cowboy greats was cut. Yet, all a lot of our bottom-feeder fans can do is find every opportunity to rag on him. I'm willing to bet my youngest son that if Witten were cut, there would be a board riot.

Pot meet kettle.

We can only hope. Those guys are good players, they were just buried behind Witten so their receiving numbers were pedestrian in Dallas.

Think about that for a minute.

Ware
Hatcher
Ratliff
Spencer

great, except spencer and ratliff didn't play a down anyway so who cares?

our defense gnawed on donkey balls last year and couldn't sniff the qb most of the time.

think about that for a minute.

um, hatcher had to replace someone. that was his only probowl appearance in his NFL career. ware, 32, injury riddled, just wasn't the same whether here or in denver. i'm not trying to bad mouth either player. i was glad they were on the team. but i'm not going to think that ware would suddenly be 27 again or that hatcher, in his 1st 5 years here only started ONE game, was suddenly the core of our defense. again, hatcher only did well in a contract year.

i'm leary of that regardless of who it is. i can't think of many players, esp at that age, who got a big paycheck and lived up to it.

i swear to god, people whine and moan if we overpay, or they whine and moan we didn't.
