Odds were in our favor to hit it big on a TE with a 2nd rd pick. In hindsight this pick is more painful than ever...

1) Pick 21 Tyler Eifert
2) Pick 35 Zach Ertz
Cowboys picked T. Fredrick w/ pick 31. Great pick... But according to draft pundits... getting Fredrick at 47, where Cowboys drafted Escobar, would have been virtually guaranteed.
3) Pick 47 Gavin Escobar
Le'veon Bell went to Pitt with the pick next pick... just sayin'
4) Pick 55 Zach McDonald
5) Pick 63 Travis Kelce
6) Pick 85 Jordan Reed

Wasn't Kelce off our board for character issues?

And they are idiots. With how the draft was going in the first round, Frederick wold have most likely been gone.

It wouldn't have mattered anyways. We simply don't do the two TE set well when it comes to receiving. Until one of the coaches realizes it's time to start limiting Witten's role in some way, our second string TEs should just be focusing on their blocking because they won't be getting many chances in the receiving game.

You can do a lot of this draft revisited stuff every year and it's painful for all teams. Bet the Commanders would love a do-over for the rg3 draft or a bunch teams would have loved picked Stefon diggs before the vikes got him ect....

Getting Fredbeard at 47 was not guaranteed. Draft pundits are one thing, real GMs are another.

Hindsight is 20/20. Why can't some people give up the Escobar pick? It is done. It is over. Yeah, in hindsight, we would probably do a lot of things differently. Well, so would 31 other teams. Move on.

To be fair, it's not like people were praising the Escobar pick when it happened. While the Fred pick was polarizing, the Escobar pick was the one pick most people agreed was the negative of the draft.

Witten won't lose playing time in this organization until his legs literally give out on him.....

Most of those guys are utilized properly.

Jordan reed would be a bust here. He can win 1 vs 1s on linebackers all day. That's why he excels in Washington.

Doesn't matter how good the TE is we draft. As long Witten is a Cowboy, he will get the lion's share of snaps and looks. This is why I get frustrated when we draft a TE high. They will not see the field. It's a waste.

The thing is, we need a TE now. Witten isn't even a good one anymore. He's okay. Solid but in decline. We need the next TE and I'm afraid Escobar took himself out of consideration when he trimmed off the butcher stache. Don't want him. Can't win with him. Can't do it.

Witten will never get phased out unless he is dead.

Pointless hindsight

Everything said in a fan forum is practically pointless, it doesn't matter unless we are staging a "walkout" or boycott or something along those lines, this forum exists because fans need/want to vent

That statement has no credibility at all. At the end of the day, the "pundits" and "experts" really don't know that much. They're predictions and mock drafts are no better than anyone else's.

"Pointless hindsight" is fan for "my team made a huge mistake but I don't want to acknowledge it".
