The even-keel, straight-shooter, non knee-jerk thread

BTW... why bother with some posters?

It's not worth trying to have an intelligent exchange with Rampage.

If all you do is look at a box-score when discussing football, then we're on different wavelengths.

You haven't said one thing in answer to his comments except to deflect and attack. While I agree with you about execution and give GB a lot of credit for our poor execution, I saw very little in the way of play calling to give any praise at all.

We were blitzed to death today. Where was the max protection. You cannot pass in the face of a blitz that is not picked up. You cannot call anything but quick passes and screens etc. And you can't pass when you're on your backside. You can however throw the ball in this league if your QB can stand back there long enough. No defense can cover forever.

And anyone can see we don't run the ball enough. We give up too easily and too quickly. What should be a strength on the team becomes a weakness. Where was the wildcat today? At the very least you can try it. And we were in this game for three quarters.

No, the offensive play calling was offensive today. Again that's no the only reason for the loss but it does exist.

why cause i'm pointing out the run-pass ratio and don't want to pick apart every drive? it shouldn't have even come to this. when you have a 4 to 1 pass ratio on the road that's not good. are you guys so stupid that i have to breakdown every drive? we've seen this crap before and how it ends.

Look how I addressed the issue, by citing specific examples and using actual football logic and strategy to defend my point

You just keep saying that "We sucked because we had a 4 to 1 pass/run ratio", which is a factual argument in this case but it is also a poor argument. Sometimes the defense dictates that you throw the ball 40 times, and many games have been won that way. What GB was doing dictated that we run and throw quick passes.

and yet we didn't do any of that. so you understand what i'm saying but since i don't take a half hour to break down where ginger screwed up on every drive it's a poor arguement?

There were several plays to be made today by the offense that didn't happen. Not every play is going to go your way, and when you get a chance to make a play, make the play.

Romo's miss to Austin, Folk's missed FG, Roys fumble and drop, Witten's PI on third down, all negated big plays by us, or drive sustaining plays for us.

I don't know about everyone else, but one of my most hated play in this game was the 1st and goal and the 1 yard line after the PI call, and we decided to throw it. Seriously, I really cannot understand why we didn't try to run the ball...I said it in the chatroom....we should have punched it in. Instead, we throw the ball and Romo is having an off-day, and we get picked off.

No argument there, terrible call. But the thinking is if we dont get in on a run, we waste valuable time. If we dont get in on a pass, the clock stops.

Unfortunately, Romo threw a pick.

Dumb call, but by that point the game was pretty much over.

Down by 17 with 6 min left and one timeout? We needed a miracle.

Exactly, you have to explain WHY is was stupid to throw 4 times for every 1 run in this particular game

anyone figure out why that 2nd TO was called RIGHT after GB lost their challenge? I mean seriously???

It's hard to run consistently when you're constantly in second and third and long.

What is the excuse for not running from 1st and goal from one yard line? ( it was not like 20 secs on the clock , it was more than 6 min left ) instead Romo goes in shotgun and stares witten and throw behind him to be picked off robbing us 7 points.

where did I say there were no instances where we should have run than pass?

:laugh1: gotcha!

Cincinatti tan the ball 29 times today for 61 yards, and guess what, they won on the road against the defending champs! I don't care if it isn't working! Do it anyway!

Btw I like how you leave out the first drive in your arguement... Makes sense since it show success running the ball. Which we did like 3 times in the second half!

I don't want to bash the play calling, but with the offense doing absolutely nothing, would it kill Garrett to try a little no huddle to change it up a little?

I agree those are drive killers or hurt at the least. But those don't distract from the obvious. Romo has to have protection to be successful. Every QB needs it. OW it's at the very least an inept offense.

We didn't have a game plan to either confront or adjust to the blitz. We never run the ball even when we're in a 3-0 game in the third quarter. Take the damn ball out of their hot QB's hands with TOP. Not the other way around.

I'll give you the poor execution as I did earlier. That doesn't distract from the poor play calling on top of it. We couldn't have called a much worse game IMO.

This team has some big dudes up front but they get manhandled way to often for this team to ever be a consistent grind it out offense. The offensive line needs to find a mean streak and find it pronto.Columbo was the only guy that I would consider "mean" and he was knocked out of the game. The other thing that hurts this team is offensive penalties, they are constantly negating a positive play(or atleast seems that way).Lack of execution hurts this offense also, whether it comes from a drop, fumble, blown assignment or freelancing.Bottom line is that this team is still soft and undisciplined from what was on display today.
