The Jason Campbell era is over, seemingly only moments after it began.

But wait... Campbell was a franchise guy...

I actually like Campbell as a 1a guy... he has talent he just doesn't grasp offenses so fast... the Auburn coaching staff had that issue with him...

A team that keeps him for a few years could have another Frank Reich type guy...

I just can't stop laughing. I stopped by over at ExtremeForeskins and got a good chuckle. There are actually some fans over there that are stating they think Campbell is better than Cutler. There are a few that are also saying Campbell was a potential league MVP at the midpoint of last season simply because he hadn't thrown an interception. The catch? He pretty much threw nothing but 5-8 yard passes either. That place is always good for a laugh. The stupidity is legendary. Actually I think these statements are simply defense mechanisms. They know they don't have anything to trade to get Cutler and even if they did, they couldn't afford him.

Do we really have ANY room to talk crap about the Commanders? They HAVE won a playoff game this century. Yeah they screw up a lot because of their owner and other things but it's sort of calling the pot calling the kettle black to me. If they go out and get Cutler, our division is going to be amazing. PERIOD.

There is ALWAYS room to talk smack about the Commanders. I'm sure they were yapping when we won three super bowls in four years, so I'm never going to shut up.

Do you ever listen to or read anything posted by a Foreskin fan? Go check out ExtremeForeskins and then come back and let me know what you think.

By the way Stiletto, I think you missed the point. Everyone knows the Foreskins would be much better if they traded for Cutler. The thing that's hilarious is that some of their fans think Campbell is better than Cutler and would rather have him.

Hopefully it doesn't materialize....

Their offense would have the kickstart they've been missing.
All of the sudden, Santana Moss, Clinton Portis, Chris Cooley, and Randal El get scary good.

And their defense is good enough already.

Yeah, this Campbell thing is sort of odd.

I never thought all that much of him. But then he started playing well. He had a good game against the Cowboys. And the announcers were talking him up - as if he were coming of age, or something.

And now, bang, the plug is being pulled.

How much of this is on Campbell and how much of this is the Commanders management being too impatient?

I'm not a big fan of QB ratings, but this is sort of interesting:

Campbell's passer rating last season was a middle of the pack 84.3. His rating was higher than the regular season QB ratings of Flacco, Farve, Roethlisberger, and Collins.

Cutler's rating was 86.0, just a few slots higher than Campbell's.

Commanders get Cutler and they will be an extremely scary team. Extremely!!! Especially when they get over the Zorn era.

Commanders GM responds to the article:
if these "journalists" had any integrity they'd name their sources. If their editors had any integrity they'd demand their "journalists" name their sources.

Remember when ESPN refused to run w/ the story about Favre possibly telling ?forgot which team? about Green Bay's plays. They refused to go w/ a story because of the "unnamed source." That was integrity... but then along comes Ed Werder and they didn't seem to mind going w/ it then.

Here's another case of unnamed sources apparently spreading rumors that fuel further speculation. It doesn't matter if the Commanders come out and deny it, it's out there now...

When ESPN kept quiet about Brett that was the opposite of integrity. They tried to protect Brett's reputation for some reason. Other media outlets like FOX and CBS were saying Favre talked to the Lions and gave them plays. It turned out that ESPN was wrong as Brett himself admitted to talking to the Lions but downplayed the amount of talking he did.

ESPN wants Brett to join their crew that's why they protected him. ESPN's ombudsmen even wrote a piece about explaining why they choose to stick to their 'source' (who was wrong) later about it.

If your keeping track, just believe the opposite of anything ESPN says.

Campbell isn't nearly established enough to throw a hissy fit.

If I were the Skins I would give up what ever it took to get Cutler.

I was worried about this happening. I'd hate to see Cutler there. I want them to resign Campbell to a 10 year deal. He flat out stinks.

Well, I gotta say, Campbell behind a solid offensive line (something we sorely lacked in the last 8 games) looked d*** impressive last year. For those of you who care about anything more than media image, Campbell has:
an equal winning percentage
had +/- 10 less int's last year than Cutler,
a far weaker WR corps than Cutler
a 1st yr coach with no vertical threat vs Shanahan
plays the NFCE 6 games a year vs Cutler who plays AFCW.

I would keep JC_R in a heartbeat over a whining JC_D (and by the way I am a Broncos fan too so I follow them as well).

The only thing JC_R lacks, and sadly it is what makes him "1a" as someone said, is the killer instinct or the willingness to just put it out there for his receivers to make a play, but I blame that on Saunders/Gibbs as much cause their internal conflict of open it up/conservative run really messed JC_R's confidence.
Bottom line:
If we do this trade, I will take any sig Hostile gives me. It ain't gonna happen!

Winning percentage means nothing. Teams win games, not qb's.

The less INT's is a joke. Campbell throws the ball 4 yards to a reciever at a dead stop. Cutler throws the ball downfield to guys in stride.

Campbell isn't in the same league as Cutler skill wise.

Cutler is a cry baby though.

It would be an instant upgrade to their team because they'd finally have a legit QB. Their offense, which is average at best right now, would instantly be better. Portis would find more holes because despite average WR's Cutler would still be a much greater threat at QB then Campbell. This would not be a good thing for the Cowboys, at all.

And just because Campbell throws a pretty ball in practice obviously doesn't mean it translates to the field.

I think Campbell is a very solid starter but he is no where near the talent Cutler is.

Cutler might actually be a better matchup for us though considering we play such soft coverages and Wade gives Jason anything he wants underneath.
