It is a fictional championship. Last year were the 2 best college basketball teams in the country North Carolina and Michigan State? Carolina it si hard ot argue against them last year. But come on, Michigan State? Yet who earned a right to face them for the National Championship?

There are 82 college sports. 81 of them are decided by a tournament to crown a Champion. The biggest one of them all says only 2 teams deserve any shot. It's a load of crap.

I doubt Boise State could beat Bama or Texas, but we have no chance of ever knowing that do we? Why? Because it is a fictional championship. A computer has decided these 2 teams deserve it. They earned this with wins over the FIU Golden Panthers and the Louisiana Monroe Warhawks every bit as much as they earned it with wins over Florida and Nebraska.

The system sucks. Therefore it is fictional. I have no issue with crowning the Cincinnati Bearcats the National Champion if they run the table and earn it. This isn't earning it. This is nothing more than a bad continuation of an already flawed logic. It has never made sense.

Spot on.

I'm convinced BCS stands for Biggest Crock of ****. (can mods see curse words)

Its a joke and anyone who says it isn't is lying to themselves.

I actually know over 2 dozen Pro scouts for various sports teams. One of my best friends was a former scout for the NY Giants. Living in New York I've got to know a lot of sports writers, NFL/NBA/MLB players, coaches, scouts, etc. I asked the 3 of them who would they choose for top LB in the draft and each mentioned they liked UT's Kindle and Muckleroy. They said McClain has already peaked. No room for improvement. Similar to Barbie Carpenter. Texas LB's have loads more potential and have haven't reached their potential. Don't really care what you think. If i recall correctly you are from a little Arizona podunk town where hearsay is gospel. So I trust my sources who are in the loop more than your gossip ******.
:laugh2:

Yeah, Tucson has 3 stop lights and 2 gas stations. We just got indoor plumbing 2 years ago.

I didn't mean to offend you. I just find that a little hard to believe.

Edit...BTW, I was not doubting you know 3 scouts. I was doubting all 3 of them are of the exact same opinion on these LBs. Very farfetched.

Want Texas to win, but they dont have a run game. Bama wins in a blowout or Texas wins a close game.

Will we have a gamethread or chat activity for this one? Would love to discuss the game with other football fans.

Only when people try to disguise them and we give them infractions. The filter works for us too. Notice how everyone with a brain can know exactly what you meant without trying to sneak the word by the filters.

I totally agree on that acronym btw.

you are crazy if you think Bama is going to Roll Texas...

How so? Texas played two teams with a defense this yr and nearly lost both games. They were extremely fortunate to beat Nebraska.

Niether Nebraska nor Oklahoma is anywhere near as good as Alabama.

YEAH, the SEC is reaaaaaaaaaaal good

I've never been one of those that believes bowl games show one way or another than one conference is better than the other. Too many teams show up with no moivation whatsoever to win because of the ignorant BCS crap.

The best way to measure how good a conference is IMO is to see how many players they put into the NFL, and the SEC consistently puts the most players in the NFL, especially defensively.

I pick the Longhorns for the same reason I pick the Cowboys every week: Despite my willingness to concede and lament the shortcomings of my teams during the week, when it comes to the core matter of game day predictions, I'm a homer!

you seem too smart to have gone to UT, I see you more of a northeastern Ivy League kind of guy

Bama wins the non-fictional national championship.

Like watching Mark Ingram....a tad of Emmitt there.

LSU lost to Penn State. They were not 'spanked' by the Nittany Lions.

Yeah I was thinking the same thing. I didn't know losing by two on a late field goal on a field that looked like WWI trenches in Flanders was spanking someone.

Bama.

Better coaching, Better Running, Better D and better O-Line.

The x factor is the Alabama QB. If he has even a mediocre game then they will win with ease (not saying blow out but easy win). If he sucks tonight than the bama running game can be stopped by crowding the line and they can not control the clock vs texas if the run game is stopped and the QB is not doing well aka being one dimensional.

I just think the tide wins...but they don't hand out the trophy before the game is played.

A little motivation here for the Long Horn fans.

I mentioned in another thread about a Bowl game a couple years back between my WVU Mountaineers and the Oklahoma Sooners. ESPN took a poll to see who fans thought would win the game. EVERY state but WV said The sooners. We beat the Sooners by 20 points, dominated all three phases of the game and never trailed IIRC.
Now earlier I heard them talking on ESPN and they said they took a poll from fans and that every state but Texas picked the Tide to win. It would seem the Longhorns are not getting any respect or chance to win...sounds eerily familiar to that WVU VS Oklahoma game to me.:D
