I pick the Longhorns for the same reason I pick the Cowboys every week: Despite my willingness to concede and lament the shortcomings of my teams during the week, when it comes to the core matter of game day predictions, I'm a homer!

I'd be extremely surprised if Alabama didnt win the game, and IMO will win by double digits.

The "x" factor is the layoff, you never know how some of these teams will perform after being off the field so long.

But no possible way to know if they are the two best....certainly NEVER clearly. Just look at the last several games--many when the two were supposed to be clearly the best teams--and you will be reminded that this is fictional. In a tourney, most likely UT (and Bama) would have to go through Florida and one or two other teams (Ohio St, Oregon, Boise, TCU, etc) before proving they should even belong in that game.

In any case, I can't wait for the game and I SO want the Horns to pull it off.

I think Alabama will win. I want Texas, not because I'm a big Horns fan, I just don't care much for Alabama.

The one thing the NCAA has gotten right more often than not though, with the BCS, is they usually get the clearcut #1 vs. #2 in the championship game.

That's right, nothing fictional about playing it on the field. Only if you play it on Madden. This is THE one, based on today's rules----if you don't believe that then Florida has been FICTIONAL for the last couple years, as well as all the rest "national champions".

Alabama has gotten all the love now because of the last game played----I see them also as the team that should have been beaten by UNRANKED Tennessee. Texas at least had top ten ranked Cornguys with Suh to deal with. I not only see Texas hanging with the tide but beating them. Alabama is coming in a la USC but without the offensive power. The QB and RB are overrated. Texas has a chip on their shoulder, and that is the way they like it.

Texas wins because, well, because they're Texas... and nobody messes with Texas. How anyone can be a Cowboy fan and not a Texas fan I'll never understand.

Texas is the greatest state in the union...that's why the Cowboys come from Dallas, Texas...the greatest city in the greatest state.

It is a fictional championship. Last year were the 2 best college basketball teams in the country North Carolina and Michigan State? Carolina it si hard ot argue against them last year. But come on, Michigan State? Yet who earned a right to face them for the National Championship?

There are 82 college sports. 81 of them are decided by a tournament to crown a Champion. The biggest one of them all says only 2 teams deserve any shot. It's a load of crap.

I doubt Boise State could beat Bama or Texas, but we have no chance of ever knowing that do we? Why? Because it is a fictional championship. A computer has decided these 2 teams deserve it. They earned this with wins over the FIU Golden Panthers and the Louisiana Monroe Warhawks every bit as much as they earned it with wins over Florida and Nebraska.

The system sucks. Therefore it is fictional. I have no issue with crowning the Cincinnati Bearcats the National Champion if they run the table and earn it. This isn't earning it. This is nothing more than a bad continuation of an already flawed logic. It has never made sense.

I'm not a fan of either but love college football. From what I've seen from both of these teams I think Bamas defense is going to shut down the Longhorns offense. JMO.

I figured I needed to answer my own question. Bama wins because I have a serious man crush on Rolando McLain and I need to get over it, because he is likely out of reach. So he will shine and bring me back to the real world.

Mcclain is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyy over rated I'd take Sergio Kindle or Muckelroy 100 times out of 100 times over McClain. I'd take Mount Cody Bama NT too. McClain is going to be an average/below average LB in the NFL.

Something tells me that Texas will be highly motivated by a month of mouth-breathers telling them they have no chance. Bama has the more talented roster, but my heart says to go with the horns.

Either way I'm just glad it's not going to be Florida.
