It they pull of wins against teams like the Ravens and 49ers, then I may think things are different, but beating a team with a good defense and horrible offense is the same old, same old
Cleveland has a great defense, not just good. And it could be, just maybe, some of Cleveland’s woes on offense were the result of the Cowboys’ very good defense. Hate to be the fly in the ointment here, while so many try to point out how bad the Cowboys are despite winning their opener, but every team has to start the season with game one. It was a very good start. Whether you like it or not.

Another year.. Another Cowboys team that looks awesome but a dark cloud from previous seasons still hangs over this franchise.

The games are fun but it’s all for nothing if we get to the post season and have our typical no show.

The first thing Brady said about Dak was about his lack of post season success.

So be excited. The Cowboys have a championship caliber roster.

But..

The dark cloud doesn’t leave until we do something in the post season.

Dallas looked like the most impressive team to me today and it wasn’t really close.

Keep in mind we were road underdogs.
Let's not cherry pick. Brady also said Dak was a great QB and the Cowboys were right to sign him and Lamb to the big contracts.

I'm not saying I agree - he is a high quality QB, but whether is the right guy to go all the way is still a bit of a gamble.

I'm just saying if citing Brady's comments you should give the full picture on what he said.

Yes. Everyone needs to remember. Nothing counts except the superbowl. These “regular season” wins are stupid. So don’t enjoy them ever. Concentrate on the playoff losses over the years and never forget!

This will make you a better person, fan, spouse and CZ member.
Thank you.
"Enjoy"...but don't over-index on them. It's 1 out or 17...and Dak is a proven choker. Caution is warranted.

I listened VERY CLOSELY to Brady and his praise of Dak was TEPID. I'm gonna take into account that he competed against Dak, his last game was a Dak win and he is a competitor still...and even with that...

I sensed no respect for Dak. "He's accurate"...was the best and most questionable compliment Brady gave him. It was classic damning with faint praise IMO. If he were talking about about Allen or Burrow or a more celebrated QB who was ACTUALLY a threat to Tom...it might have been different.

The dark cloud are the fool's gold fans that can't even enjoy a win for one minute.
Some people seem incapable of multi tasking
they can only look at something one way and hate anyone who does not
one can enjoy the victory and realize the problems there
those unable to do anything but cheer no matter what are the minions

They mentioned that the Cowboys recently signed Dak and Lamb to big contracts, and he said something to the effect of "as well they should have because they are both great players".

We are regular season wonders.
When the games really count we go into the fetal position.
So enjoy it now.
Reality is coming, and it wont be kind.
Reality is that you don't know what you are talking about. You missed an awesome 1st game of the season. Overshown is the real deal. You should check him out.

C'mon...yes...relative to the rest of the league they are "great"...no doubt. But all-time greats or even Cowboy greats? Not remotely. Tom knows this...by that metric Kirk Cousins is "great".

You need to work on that. Those unable to do anything but squeal are annoying and comical at the same time.

Sad how fans are so quick to judge other fans.
"Living in misery"? What would you know about how other people live? You have to make that up in your head.
Doom n gloom? Good lord exaggerated much?

Well I guess you have to to get your agenda in.
You seem to be so sad all the time.

This is exactly the kind of fan skepticism that this franchise has earned over the last 28 years.

You cannot trust what you see because the bottom has fallen out so many times.

They will have to prove it in January. They have lost all credibility at this point. While McCarthy can point to 3 straight 12 win seasons as being quite an achievement, and he has a point— we can point to when he was hired with the goal of getting this team over the hump in the postseason— and that has yet to happen.

So in essence, he has won some battles, but lost the wars. Until that changes— the skepticism will remain— and that is a direct result of this team’s underachievments.

A straightforward view of things. Prove it in January.
I can't remember who said it, but "The NFL is a week-to-week deal" covers it.

Nobody was discussing where he ranks among the all time greats.

Well there is no post season at all unless we play well in the regular season. Just enjoy the journey.

Most of us have learned it doesn’t take much for the Cowboys to become complacent. One of the biggest problems with the team is handling success. We got off to a tremendous start last season after the first two games and got full of ourselves. A lot of fans brought in too soon and got burned after the embarrassing loss to a bad AZ team. That’s when I knew there wasn’t anything different about the team. We’ll see how many games into the season before the Cowboys decide to take a game off. If they keep winning they might have a tough time getting up for the Giants. The big concern with the Cowboys is staying motivated.

I say it every year and I will continue to say it, we’ll see where we are when December arrives. If the team is going to get anywhere in the playoffs, they have to be playing their best football in December. Peaking in October/November then falling off in December will lead to the same disappointments. Last season you could see the cracks forming against Seattle and Detroit. In December we lost to Buffalo and Miami. How we’re playing in December will be the key to this season.

Why are we discussing potential playoff failures in early September? I am very cynical and pessimistic but even this is a bit much. Why even watch the regular season at this point for some of yall? Just tune out for 4 months and check back in January to see if we made the playoffs and tune in then. I have a sense many secretly (and some not so secretly) hope for losses so they can get on here and completely trash certain players. When we win, they need to find something else to sulk about.

You can't get to the playoffs without winning these types of games. You are going to have more games against lesser teams than the top tier teams. Can't get behind the 8ball early and lose to these lesser teams. The first mark of a good team is can they be consistent in beating teams worse than them. Dallas has did that under Mike. They are a good team. They have also shown they can beat really good teams i.e. Eagles and Lions. They have yet to take that step to the very top tier and be consistent against better teams as they have a lot of stinkers in those games like SF and Buffalo last year.

But as a sports fan, you will be miserable 99% of the time if you can't enjoy the journey and game to game and only focus on the playoffs. Only one team wins per year in each league. This outlook is unhealthy over time. Sports might not be for you, or at least this team?

Two things can be true at the same time.

Very much enjoying the win! Awesome.
Can we continue this....bust through playoff blockade.
We'll enjoy each and every game in the meantime....not impossible....for some.
Well then.

Dont watch the games until the playoffs? Save yourself the misery.
