Look there's a few ways to be a fan.
1. Just win baby and everything is fine.
2 As former players of football at any level, you watch the game differently. You expect good, or at least solid play in every facet of the game at this level.
I was happy last night, but today is my "film" day, in which I'm focused in what didn't go right. There is always a lot of room for improvement.
If you want to be through the roof excited, Great!
But I will discuss issues that need to be addressed.
As a player, you leave a game feeling like you played great, after film the next day you leave feeling naked and violated.
It's how I roll, enjoy the season your own way.

When we win the Super Bowl, I'll take a few months off.
There are a lot of concerns.....like

The lack of a run game...
So much for all the hype on Tolbert being the #2 guy....
The penalties....
Dak still struggling with the deep throws...

Another year.. Another Cowboys team that looks awesome but a dark cloud from previous seasons still hangs over this franchise.

The games are fun but it’s all for nothing if we get to the post season and have our typical no show.

The first thing Brady said about Dak was about his lack of post season success.

So be excited. The Cowboys have a championship caliber roster.

But..

The dark cloud doesn’t leave until we do something in the post season.

Dallas looked like the most impressive team to me today and it wasn’t really close.

Keep in mind we were road underdogs.
can people not enjoy wins anymore

Fans place far too much weight on winning championships. It’s not all their fault. The media over hypes winning the gold .

There used to be something said for being a contender. In the NFL 16 now 17 meaningful games which lead to postseason appearance used to be the benchmark for success.

Winning or playing for championships was more of cream rising or gravy on top. Not the total measurement of success.
Hard to believe you have come to this. How did you lose your way, playing for the championship is the only measure of success everything else is failing

No, that would mean during our 20 consecutive winning seasons including 12 championship appearances and 5 SB’s that only 2 seasons were successful and the rest were failures.

False narrative 5 were successful playing for the SB title is a success as you won your conference championship game, you’re down to getting to the playoffs or is 9-8 season no playoffs now a successful season? Getting to the final game is a success winning it is great not making a CCG is failing, the last 28 seasons how many CCGs have they got to, so by your definition they were all failures

I have a wait and see attitude. Happy with the win yesterday and of course there are things to improve it was game one where the starters didn't play in the preseason.

Yes,there are different levels of success. And while playing for championships is the ultimate goal it isn’t the only measure of success.

Our last 28 seasons have been a record for futility in the playoffs and I’ll continue to critique it as always but that doesn’t mean every season is a complete failure.

Winning division titles and playoff appearances isn’t a COMPLETE failure. Have we failed once we got there. On the most part , yes.

But it’s not reality saying only 1, 2 or 4 teams had successful seasons . That would be like only the gold medal winners had success.

Did they have the ultimate success , of course but making as far as some do is considered a success for many. Not the same level of success.

I’ll never buy into unless you’re an A student you weren’t successful in school, etc. I can give many more analogies. In the same token I’m not in favor of last place teams receiving trophies.

It’s much like players don’t need to win championships to be inducted to HOF. We actually can recognize greatness and success without being on a championship team.

I get the media has hyped winning championships as the absolute measure and it is the pedestal of achievement. But the rest aren’t losers . They just didn’t have the same level of success.

He will be able to play soon, but he'll reinjure it throughout the year. It's something he'll have to deal with. We probably won't even know it's bothering him. That's what happened to Hurts a year or 2 ago. He ended up just playing through the pain.

And a 9-8 playoff season is more successful than the teams who didn’t make the playoffs.

It’s moderate success . Probably not the level we’d prefer. But all of those teams sitting at home would have rather made the dance at 9-8.

And that’s what the Cowboys have been this era. Moderate success. Obviously not up to the standard we’ve become accustom to for several decades.

The bar has been lowered this era under Jethro as GM. I don’t see the Cowboys as a championship caliber franchise any longer.

We can continue criticizing the lack of more success. But saying it’s championship or bust is shortsighted based on what the Cowboys have become this era.

When you don’t allow yourself to be entertained by the team you say is ur favorite what’s the point? Very good win against a team that has a great defense and this offense dominated them. The defense dominated them. Maybe it’s time to hang up the cowboy flag and find something that’s not gonna make you sound so bitter

Let's be real here. Everything you needed to know about this thread is contained in the title. You knew exactly what to expect before you made the decision to open and read the thread.

Yet you still opened and read the thread,

It's like putting a gun to your head, pulling the trigger then whining because you're dead.

Your constant whining is no different then the whining "they", "them" and "some" do.

You need to work on that. Those unable to do anything but squeal are annoying and comical at the same time.
Squeal!!! Keep Squealing....keeps me laughing. Thank you for your contribution.
and those determined to hide their heads from reality deserve complete contempt

and the Cowboys were coming off of quite possibly the most embarrassing playoff loss in NFL history since the merger.

Who said "we" aren't enjoying "anything"?

As if there isn't a long standing track record that we aren't allowed to ever talk about.
Umm the point of the original post is to make sure people don't get too excited about our first game in which we crushed the opponent. What else were we supposed to do? Lose? Not try? Make the game closer?!

Concerns over playoffs are valid. But this was literally the only game we've played and we passed the test with flying colors.

Meh this will be the norm all year, not for or against it, it is what it is with this Franchise...they are going to have to win some playoff games to change it...i get that, I also very much enjoyed this week 1 win against a good playoff team..it is what it is..
