There’s a lot to be optimistic about. The Cowboys have a strong core of players and have numerous ways to lower their salary cap. It’s obvious the weakness is the wide receivers. Outside of Cee Dee, they have no one. Not sure what’s up with Gallup but he was just lost out there. I gave him a pass early because he was coming back from injury. But that play where Dak threw an interception, he looked like he didn’t know what to do on that route. So they definitely need to spend some capitol on a high end WR in free agency.

Zeke is done. I wouldn’t want him back at anything more than the league minimum.

Dak was awful during this game. They’re not going to make it deep in the playoffs with that kind of play. He needs better options around him at WR and he needs to stop forcing it to try to win the games single handedly. I think another top end WR will allow that to happen. But he’s got to do his part and quit thinking he’s Mahomes. He’s not. But they can win with him I have no doubt.

It’s also time to spend some capitol on defensive lineman. Hankins played great but he’s just a stop gap. When Watkins is your best DL, then you know you’re in trouble.

CB is another area that needs addressed. Diggs is solid although he doesn’t like to tackle like Prime didn’t. Bland is solid and Mukuamu has a chance. But they need depth and they have no one.

They should resign LVE. I think he had his best year. Just from a fan perspective I’d like them to play Micah at LB more. Just to help extend his career and also to take advantage of his speed.

They’ll probably have a new DC and OC as well as other coaches. They need to hit a home run here with their replacements.

So there’s reasons to be optimistic. I for one am. I will always have hope and never give up.

I don't see this team going further until Jerry hires a coach who can stay competent.

The future is not bright IMO. Between free agency, and age, the Cowboys bulb is dimming not shining brighter. The QB is eating up way too much CAP space for what he produces on the field. When you feed you prize horse all the hay and all he does is fill the barn with poop, he is no longer your prize horse. The Eagles have a good team because they are paying a rookie QB. They use the money on other players they have acquired through free agency and trades. Our GM put all his money on 1 horse and he is filling up the barn.

There are some bright spots, I admit. Steele and Tyler Smith are going to be solid tackles for years. Ferguson looks like he can easily replace Schultz. CeeDee is becoming a star. Micah, of course, is a once in a generation player in danger of being wasted in Dallas. LVE is playing like a 1st round pick now. But this is not enough if your QB is soiling the sheets in big games. Finding a new franchise QB is going to be hard. It is going to require time and patience.

But we all know that Jerry is going to restructure Dak next year pushing more money into the voided years of his contract which almost guarantees Dak gets an extension. For those of us who thought $40 million was ridiculous for Dak, we are absolutely going to wretch over his next deal.

I think Jerry just wants the Cowboys to be relevant. He doesn't really care if they go to the Super Bowl or not. That's why he will stick with Bad/Good Dak.
Roller-coaster Dak. Starting to turn into a real hurl-fest. Incredibly, once Tyron Smith retires or is cut the o-line will have been completely turned over (save Martin) since 2016. All those years...smh.

It's not the coach. It's the quarterback sir...followed by the offensive coordinator. If you don't see that by now, then you won't ever see it. We have a large enough sample size now. Two years. Two bad offensive performances in the playoffs, both captained by Prescott. The defense was more than good enough both times.

Time to call it what it appears to be. Fool's gold.

By the way, I used to think like this. That if we gave Prescott a really good OL and really good WRs, he'd be fine. But I no longer think that's true. He does things, in big games (not all, but enough) that have zero to do with the talent on the field around him. Talent, or lack thereof, wasn't the reason he stupidly tried to force a ball into double coverage late in the first half. It wasn't lack of offensive talent that forced him to make another bad decision on the first interception. It wasn't lack of talent that forced him to completely miss Greenlaw late and almost throw yet another pick 6. It wasn't lack of offensive talent when he completely missed a wide open Ty Hilton for a potential TD. It wasn't a lack of offensive talent around him when he has Gallup breaking wide open and he throws the ball 4 yards behind him.

At this point though, we have no other options. Dak's contract is tough to get out from for a few years. So we are left with hoping he either just improves as a 7 year vet OR that maybe if he gets enough talent around him, he can steer them beyond where they have stagnated.

Get back to me after FA...then it will be same old crap...keep our own that we don't need to and do not sign any players, but 1 year prove it deals that no other team wants anyway.
They must get some top impact FA's this next season.

Then:

Get back to me after the draft...where we do pretty decent, but still no higher round QB will be taken. Still need some impact players.
Last years draft turned out to have some players. Will see how they do in their 2nd year.

The Dak and Zeke deal were so dumb.

Locked us into mediocrity like myself and so many other knew it would.
The Zeke deal will always be the worst of the two. Yeah, Dak's cap hit is way larger but his cap hit/contract is at least within the rationale of the league - where teams pay QBs. Note, I am not saying they were right but their thinking was in line with what most franchises were doing.

Paying a TB was just dumb. They had the benefit of seeing other TBs get big contracts and end up biting the team in the butt and they just ignored it.

I think they need a bright offensive minded, young guy.

Watch Shanahan's offense and then watch ours. Shanahan is a brilliant tactician who can scheme guys open. Regardless of what they have at TB, they can scheme their way to enough success in the running game to be a really good, balanced offense.

McCarthy isn't a bad coach. But he's not a great coach and certainly not one that you can look to where he would give you an edge on any given Sunday. Sadly, I think the Eagles may have that guy in Sirianni. He's an *** but for his two years there, they've schemed a great offense that fits Hurts. I do not believe we could do the same if Hurts was our QB.

Rocky, until this team gets a professional GM, it's not doing squat.
We had Cooper and gave him away for a bag of peanuts.
The Jones mean well, but are not good enough.

Past evidence says Jerry can't find a coach/qb to get us to the conf. championship.

This seems to be our ceiling. 28 years of evidence, I mean he has to change something right? Not saying I know what, just saying.

Paying Dak is dumb because we’re all in agreement that he needs to do much less and the run game needs to be elite for him to be successful.

A lot of QBs can have success that you dont need to pay 40 million dollars a year to under that scenario.

We had a good run, but this team's vulnerability came to the fore, when playing one of the best teams in the playoffs. I would honor this team for investing in a good OLT, a QB, CB and a DT in the next draft. Here's also hoping our FO also comes to grips with the value of making necessary investments in quality veteran free agents, rather than 3rd-tier ones. It's fair to say that they made some steps by doing so far too late this year.

It is what it is…27 years etc. I can look elsewhere for entertainment or hope this young team gets better.

I’ll stick with the Cowboys.

Eh, Micah is an average LB, he’s a phenomenal pass rusher. Wasting his talent trying to make him an off the ball LB would be a mistake. LVE isn’t anything that can’t be replaced in the 2nd through 4th round. Warner who destroyed us last night was a 3rd. If the contract is one year and reasonable is one thing but I’m not sinking a multi year contract on a LB with a bum neck who had his best season in year 5!

We are in QB purgatory which is the worse place to be. We have an albatross around our neck and don't have a future until dak is gone.
I’m not trying to be a jerk and this isn’t some sort of gotcha question.

If you really feel that way, and it crosses my mind, then how or why do you continue to deal with it? Like, what makes it worth it?

We may complain about the lack of talent or players on offense however we roll out better talent then the vast majority of the league.

Zeke is cooked. Wouldn't even keep him for vet minimum.

Gallup we will have to wait to see this upcoming year. Most folks knew he was going to be a ghost this year coming back from that injury. Letting Coop go was smooth brain move
