It's not the coach. It's the quarterback sir...followed by the offensive coordinator. If you don't see that by now, then you won't ever see it. We have a large enough sample size now. Two years. Two bad offensive performances in the playoffs, both captained by Prescott. The defense was more than good enough both times.

Time to call it what it appears to be. Fool's gold.
There is a problem with the QB, however the real problem is the GM who gave him $40m. We have a very large sample size now. 27 years.

I’m not trying to be a jerk and this isn’t some sort of gotcha question.

If you really feel that way, and it crosses my mind, then how or why do you continue to deal with it? Like, what makes it worth it?
I'll answer that one.
Some of us have been fans since the 60's and 70's, and try as we might, we can't let go of our love for what used to be a great franchise. We hang around, hoping for them to get back to it someday, but repeatedly getting kicked in the teeth by an owner who thinks he knows what he's doing, and doesn't feel any responsibility to the fans.
We are very much like a woman in love with a guy that doesn't care about her. We want to stop, but don't know how.
We keep hoping against hope that we will get to see the old Cowboys that we grew to love over the decades.
But we won't.

What’s that line from Brokeback Mountain?

Why can’t I quit you?

Something like that. There is also a bunch of Stockholm Syndrome going on here.

They can get a new QB. A new OC. A new HC. I don’t care who those guys are. The outcome is going to be the same. The Jones family has destroyed the culture.

There will never be a team like the old days. The game has changed too much. Better get used to it.

Right there with you.
I was never all in on Dak, but never hated on him either, maybe 60 / 40 or 55 / 45 going into the 2020 season. And most of that 60% for was because he is our QB, root for him, not against him.

So I was giving him the 2020 season to decide which way to go. Than the broken foot. So to the 2021 season, my timeline moved back. He was looking great, then the calf injury, then RB and OL injuries.
so I figured, ok, he tailed off in the 2nd half of the season.

So, enter 2022, now I am thinking to myself, am I just making excuses, but will keep it to myself. And decided to give him this season.
Totally unimpressed except for 2 games, Minnesota and TB playoff game, but not totally down on him either. Then again Cooper Rush was impressive in his wins as he outperformed fans expectations.
After yesterday, along with some other 2nd half of the season games. I just can't take the picks...too costly. Yesterdays game was horrible and on Dak.

I am done with him.
I will still root for him as he will be our QB, but can't trust him, nor will defend him anymore. I defended to those that constantly hated on him since he was our QB. And mostly just to be a contrarian against them. But not anymore. I won't constantly hate on him, but sure won't defend him either.
Welcome to the dark side my friend.

Dak simply is too unpredictable for a top-paid QB in his 7th season and offers nothing but frustration and disappointment to this team and its fans.

You need to help me out more than that. All I see right now are issues. In the NFL if you are not getting younger and stronger you are getting worse. Outside of the draft we have the following:

1. A QB who has a cap hit that only gets larger but whose play on the field only gets smaller. The best parts about his game are long gone. He looks more and more like a lost Drew Bledsoe just waiting for someone to tell him it's over.
2. We have a washed up RB that looks like nothing but dead money.
3. Our quality RB is hurt and is going to be looking to get paid.
4. For the most part our O line is just one year older.
5. Our "best" CB is has become a complete Diva and is going to be holding out trying to get paid.

Problems problems problems.

There’s a lot to be optimistic about. The Cowboys have a strong core of players and have numerous ways to lower their salary cap. It’s obvious the weakness is the wide receivers. Outside of Cee Dee, they have no one. Not sure what’s up with Gallup but he was just lost out there. I gave him a pass early because he was coming back from injury. But that play where Dak threw an interception, he looked like he didn’t know what to do on that route. So they definitely need to spend some capitol on a high end WR in free agency.

Zeke is done. I wouldn’t want him back at anything more than the league minimum.

Dak was awful during this game. They’re not going to make it deep in the playoffs with that kind of play. He needs better options around him at WR and he needs to stop forcing it to try to win the games single handedly. I think another top end WR will allow that to happen. But he’s got to do his part and quit thinking he’s Mahomes. He’s not. But they can win with him I have no doubt.

It’s also time to spend some capitol on defensive lineman. Hankins played great but he’s just a stop gap. When Watkins is your best DL, then you know you’re in trouble.

CB is another area that needs addressed. Diggs is solid although he doesn’t like to tackle like Prime didn’t. Bland is solid and Mukuamu has a chance. But they need depth and they have no one.

They should resign LVE. I think he had his best year. Just from a fan perspective I’d like them to play Micah at LB more. Just to help extend his career and also to take advantage of his speed.

They’ll probably have a new DC and OC as well as other coaches. They need to hit a home run here with their replacements.

So there’s reasons to be optimistic. I for one am. I will always have hope and never give up.

What an awesome season it was.

Week 1 I have to confess I was ready to tank. I really didn't see anyway we'd win a game with Rush at QB, when we were so terrible with Dak.

Then we win 4 straight and are right back in it.

All said and done we got 12 wins and a road playoff victory.

Nobody is satisfied, but I credit this team for always entertaining. That is why I watch the game. It's fun, and takes my mind off everything else. It hurts to lose, but we are getting playoff experience.

I predicted 11-6 and a first round loss before the season. They surpassed my expectations.

I hope we are aggressive this off-season and come in with an improved roster. These guys have the experience; now, let's put it to use.

Also Zeke has to go. I dont want him here at any price. If he's here coaches are compelled to play him far too often. If Davis didn't come in on a blown up play in which Dak nearly got killed I was hoping he'd get some run. Zeke is just too slow now.

The weaknesses are the OC, run game, and OL. How could the future be bright with that combination?
fixed it. sorry that ol been the reason we have struggled late the payoffs and down the stretch this year,..

once again our OL got man handled and that why we lost IMO., sure Dak INTs didn't help but qbs all of them tend to try and make plays when they feel that all there is on offense is try and make plays that might not be there..not letting dak completely off the hook but our offense against the rams 18, 21 9ers, and now this 9ers game our OL did NOT show up with a run game.. each loss no run game and very little time to throw.. its pretty obvious thats the bigger issue. No complimentary football ,no run game makes us one dimensional, and then dirty pocket to throw 50 times from..right that's the answer its all on Dak.

run it 16 times, sure no issue here, where was malik? right all dak.

need more physical LG and either Steele back or new RT.. Tyron and Peters are older and cannot be counted on but more for depth swing guys next season. fix that and our offense did just fine most games.

And so on.

tons of haters in this thread. Sad that, despite the best efforts of the OP, we couldn't all get together and praise our wonderful QB and team after last nights debacle.

Man, it's almost as if many of these fans are tired of the excuses and pollyana nonsense and just want to see meaningful wins. Crazy......
The only thing crazy is praising the QB who single handed lost this game with some help from MM, bright future tied to a QB who chokes and a HC that can’t manage a game.

I 100% think we’re close…and that if we added a weapon or 2 in offense and a little more on defense we could go all the way.

Unfortunately, my faith in the Jones to actually make it happen is incredibly low.

So while I think the roster is close enough to being championship caliber I have practically zero faith our front office will get us over the hump.
