There’s a lot to be optimistic about. The Cowboys have a strong core of players and have numerous ways to lower their salary cap. It’s obvious the weakness is the wide receivers. Outside of Cee Dee, they have no one. Not sure what’s up with Gallup but he was just lost out there. I gave him a pass early because he was coming back from injury. But that play where Dak threw an interception, he looked like he didn’t know what to do on that route. So they definitely need to spend some capitol on a high end WR in free agency.

Zeke is done. I wouldn’t want him back at anything more than the league minimum.

Dak was awful during this game. They’re not going to make it deep in the playoffs with that kind of play. He needs better options around him at WR and he needs to stop forcing it to try to win the games single handedly. I think another top end WR will allow that to happen. But he’s got to do his part and quit thinking he’s Mahomes. He’s not. But they can win with him I have no doubt.

It’s also time to spend some capitol on defensive lineman. Hankins played great but he’s just a stop gap. When Watkins is your best DL, then you know you’re in trouble.

CB is another area that needs addressed. Diggs is solid although he doesn’t like to tackle like Prime didn’t. Bland is solid and Mukuamu has a chance. But they need depth and they have no one.

They should resign LVE. I think he had his best year. Just from a fan perspective I’d like them to play Micah at LB more. Just to help extend his career and also to take advantage of his speed.

They’ll probably have a new DC and OC as well as other coaches. They need to hit a home run here with their replacements.

So there’s reasons to be optimistic. I for one am. I will always have hope and never give up.

Unfortunately with the caps pace available for next year, I don't see how Dallas can sign a couple of impact players in free agency.

And we'll most likely lose a key player or 2 in free agency.

I think this team has accomplished all that it can.

Dak can't elevate the offense and his cap hit is going to be massive next season.

I would love to share your belief as a longtime Cowboys fan; but between Stephen’s shoddy handling of the team salary cap; combined with the cap hits of Dak and Zeke, we are going to have to let good players go and sign the bargain bin free agents. So I think when all is said and done, Dallas will not change much. If Dak was the stand-up guy he portrays himself to be in the press, he would give some money back to help sign and retain players. I hear him talk about “we” will work harder and win a NFC Championship; but in reality, it should be”I”…he just hasn’t lived up to his contract and is seemingly regressing. Apparently he needs dynamic, offensive playmakers around him to function at a high level and other than Pollard and Lamb.

The future is really bright. We are hamstrung with a C level QB with a massive contract that can't be dumped.

They’ll restructure his contract so it will not be bad.

Dak ain't going anywhere so the solution should be......Keep building this defense and go back to a run first offensive approach. Continue building the oline too. Dak is competent enough of a QB to play the role of a bus driver QB again (actually he'd be a good bus driver at this point). The problem is KM trying to make him Aaron Brady when he doesn't fit the mold! Run first and play D!

This is some hardcore wishful-thinking.
Next 2 years Cowboys are doomed. They should bench Dak, trade people out and tank the 2 seasons to stack some high draft picks.

This team will head down next year since Quinn will leave and players won’t believe in Dak and his rah rah empty ‘leadership’ anymore

I am usually optimistic, but losing Dan Quinn will be a big loss. If this happens the defense will regress. Dallas will still have the talent on that side of the ball, but they won't be coached up. See Mike Nolan as example.
Who says he's leaving? I don't see him leaving to be honest. He has it made here so why would he want to take on another job with more stress when it's been proven he's not a great head coach.

It’s really not. Unless you have an elite qb you don’t have much of a window.

Great, Mr. sunshine’s annual positivity thread after another disappointing end to the season.
