As opposed to the 'dim-witted fan base' that wants to ignore the facts of a player who can't stay healthy and hasn't played well since 2014 and are in a rush to sit a player who's done everything required of him to have this team 2-0.

And before 2014 this team was 8-8 under Romo for 3 years. Amazing to me how these cats live in a 2014 dream bubble.

Way to avoid what I said. Romo has NEVER had a problem stretching the field with any receivers we've had including our current ones. Nice swing and a miss!
I did not avoid it at all. What he has done in the PAST....is in the PAST. Romo is NOT the same guy. Dez is NOT the same guy. Witten is NOT the same guy. This team needs an infusion of speed. But to do that...you have to be comfortable letting go of the past. DeMarco Murray was fast early in his tenure in Dallas as well(witness the 99 yard run against the Rams). But wear and tear catches up to everyone. One of the reasons they moved on from Murray is because they felt like there were runs that should have been taken to the house....and he could not do that anymore. Zeke is supposed to be able to do that...and quite frankly...I have not seen any evidence of that yet. But....but....if we get some speed on this offense...it will loosen things up for Zeke.

Well, since you used 3 exclamation points I'm definitely going to go and finger paint. That was a very forceful post.:hammer::yourock::bow::flagwave:
It's funny that you think you are a great poster, but I have never heard anyone else say that !!!!

hahaha Dak wont start next year if Romo is healthy...

That's not a certainty. Romo will have to really prove himself this season because his availability is a constant question, and they can save money by cutting him post June 1st.

It'll depend on Dak's grasp of the playbook AND his ability to work the playbook within the playbook. He has to read and tranlate defenses into audibles at the line scrimmage before he's ready to unseat Romo.

That can take years, but this guy is a smart cookie with tremendous poise. This year and an offseason might do it.

If Romo gets hurt again, it's a moot point. They'll have to cut their losses next offseason and go with Dak.

Why do you encourage? Too funny.

I guess they are good for a laugh.

erod? I think he's really talented with this type of piece. And I appreciate that he takes the time to provide the well-written content after every game. I don't always agree with his takes, but I still appreciate the effort and ability.

Only one dim-witted fan base is real. The other you made up for a lame retort.

Sure thing. Tell yourself whatever 'dim-witted' fan story you need to. It won't make a broken down quarterback any healthier, nor change the fact that he misses far more games than any other starter in the league. That's what's '"real" here. Anyone who can't see or accept that fact is 'dim-witted'.

I do too. I just wish he handled a difference of opinion in a better way and came off a little less condescending and 'I know better' with some of them.

But I do appreciate his efforts and he helps to get conversations started and that makes this a better forum as a result.

I agree with you, I just don´t see how they cut a healthy Tony Romo. I believe in the worst case the keep him as a backup with Dak. He will be an amazing QB coach someday.

I don't see anyone parroting your delusional take on the situation. Tony will start as soon as he is ready. If he stinks or gets hurt he will go sit back on the bench. I'm pretty sure he can match the low bar of 0TDs and playing pitch and catch to wide open receivers. But if not, we've got an option for that now.

Again, you're just not very smart. How much do you want to bet that when Romo is healed that he won't be the starter? How much?

You are the same cats that told us that Romo was going to be healthy this year and would lead us to the SB. All you doing is doubling down on your wrong bet.

Why are we the dumb ones when Romo is sitting on the bench with a broken back like we predicted.

Generally, I'd agree with you. But then, I don't think erod would have smacked down most other posters like he did CowboyRoy.

At some point, we all get the reputations we deserve for having opinions on the internet. You and I both know that from personal experience, I imagine. :)

NO actually you are way out of focus. This needs to be Daks team going forward and never look back. For any guy to sit there two weeks in a row and not be drooling over Dak is totally ridiculous.

Dak has played great for a rookie, but no one should be drooling yet.. He has managed the game well, has taken what the defense has given him and has played with great poise, but fans are acting like hes put up 300 passing yards and 3 tds a game... He has shown enough to impress, but doesnt scare defenses yet with the ability to stretch the field. I think this will come in time, but its not so obvious thatnRomo should sit when he comes back.

And it's not even his time yet.

I can't wait for Tony Romo to get back. Can't wait. His experience and know-how back in the backfield again, changing protections, signaling a route adjustment to Dez, pointing out the Mike, carving up the defense with his mind and his fancy pocket feet. The entire playbook back at our disposal. Let this big dog of an offense eat.

I so hope the Romo magic is still there. It's glorious to watch, and this season needs it, especially if a playoff game is in its future. He deserves another chance or two, and I hope he gets it.

But....suddenly, it's not nearly as critical as before. No longer are we pressured by the hear-and-now, because this team is no longer under the heavy microscope of the present and past. Sure, it is for Romo, but not for this team. Not for us. Not anymore.

There is a future. Say it with me.....by gosh, there's life after Romo. By some cruel joke to Cowboy haters everywhere, the Cowboys have stumbled on to Dak Prescott late in the draft after a half dozen had gone before him. It's another Romo miracle.

It's not just that Prescott can play. The real story is that Romo and Prescott are the too most poised, mature, well-mannered, serious, studied, and personality-polished players on the roster right now. Prescott doesn't just play like a veteran, he ACTS like one. None of this seems overwhelming to him.

Prescott isn't jaw-jacking after he makes a play. He's not look-at-me showboating after he scores, or getting into it with opponents. He more or less told Dez to shut up and play last week by telling the media he's not concerned about how many catches he receiver gets. I loved that. When he plays, it's Prescott's huddle. Nobody challenges him, and he wouldn't tolerate it if they did.

Plus, Prescott has a body built for the brutality of the position, and with a penchant for keeping plays alive and his eyes downfield. Prescott can run, but he doesn't unless there's no option. That is a real QB, and it will serve his longevity well. It's important because that ability tends to leave mid-career like it did Romo, so to be a QB first is vital. He won't be 23 forever.

Romo will return sometime after the first 4-6 games. It'll be fun to see him out there, and I hope he can still play like the Tony we know. I hope the back issues settle down and the collar bone is strong so this deserving warrior can finish his career on his terms this year and next.

But if not....if that back torques wrongly or that shoulder shatters again, we won't be held hostage this time with our heads buried in our hands. You know that position too well. We've all assumed it a few times in recent years.

If there's another unfortunate next time, we can say a sincere 'thanks' to Tony and turn the page. It'll be an unfair ending for a guy that's shouldered this team through tough times, taking Jerry's 3-13 rosters to 8-8 and beyond. What Romo has done with historically bad defenses and no-name offensive lines is nothing short of Hall-of-Fame worthy. Football ain't always fair.

Whatever happens, our football anxieties have been cured by an almost accidental afterthought of a compensatory pick in the 4th round. It's almost like finding an unknown kid from Eastern Illinois all over again. Just listen to the teeth-grinding around the league. Imagine the Commander fans' thoughts yesterday watching Dak. Yummy.

So the Dallas Cowboys are still Tony Romo's team. Sooner or later, it'll be Dak Prescott's. For about the next 10-15 years, in fact.

What a beautiful thing to write with confidence.
Good post !!! You got it going and we let it all hang out.
