As a matter of fact Garrett and Romo lobbied to keep Murray. Stephen even said after letting Murray sign with Eagles that they had confidence Randle could have success behind our great OL. And with the pickup of McFadden the day after was a clear signal they were having second thoughts and concerns.

Stephen and Jerry also bundled the Dez contract letting him bluff holding out. And it was more effective with the absence of Murray. How could Jerry let Romo begin the season without Dez and Murray?

No, Sanford and Son bundled that whole situation and I can present a much better scenario and plan they should have taken with Dez and Murray if your interested . One I lobbied for while it was all unfolding not in hindsight.

Our fortunes appear much better now that Dak fell into our lap assuming he is our future for the next era.

Where would we be if we were still counting on Romo with nothing but a great OL and RB?

Like there was this great plan at work . No, we only begin making drafting OL a priority in the draft when we realized the beating Romo was taking trying to prolong his career and stumbled onto a great running game with Murray trying to protect Romo while he was recovering .

Drafting Zeke was only after we learned it wasn't just our OL and needing a more talented RB like Murray who we let get away because we thought anyone could run behind it.

Then throw in all of the poor risk taken on either injured or problem players in draft which has wasted years prolonging the process in building a defense which could have taken Romo to a Super Bowl.

No, last year we were a lucked out 4th round pick from another 4-12 season. And it's still left to be seen if there still aren't some concerns ahead with his passing ability. And that's assuming Zeke won't be suspended or have more problems ahead.

The culture is still here regardless if Jerry is receiving a greater influence . We saw that last year again how the season finished even with all of the excitement and momentum we had.

Our defense is still suspect even though we're hopeful a more focused in draft help address it. But nothing proven yet. I see a powerful running game that can take us to the playoffs but a defense that can't pressure elite QB's.

And the way last year finished even with the excitement of Daks run there are many concerns with how defenses slowed us without a greater downfield passing attack we lost with a more prolific passer like Romo when he was healthy which he illustrated in his very brief return.

And we want to credit all of this to some master plan that Jerry is less involved with. Lol

We can be excited and hopeful with the prospects without crediting that there was some master plan in place that didn't include Jerry.

This post is that continual example of perspective which blues is just another example of.
no we're not the top organization in the NFL probably The Pats would get that vote
yes , we still make mistakes so do other well run clubs
yes it took Garrett a long time to [too long?] to turn this ship around.
but if your saying the ship isn't turned or turning around well .....we disagree

I'm not saying that at all. I'm just saying it's not as a result that Jerry isn't calling the shots. Jerry is just receiving greater influences and listening to some of them . Not all of them is still a problem though .

And this is not something all together new. He took greater advice when Bill was here and Jimmy of course.

My bigger concern is how will this time end? I don't think we're ever totally out of the woods with Jerry .

Yes, I'm very excited with our team since Garrett took over but there's a reason it's been a slower process . Because he's still calling the shots.

I've been excited about Garrett since the night he took over in the Meadowlands. And been a huge supporter of his as a means to overcome the obstacles Jerry presents.

And I received much criticism over the years for my support of Garrett thru the ups and downs .

What I'm arguing is this narrative that our success is stemming from Jerry not calling the shots . That this is now Stephens team.

Better decisions are being made because Jerry is recieving greater influence and I'm crediting most of that to Garrett. I will give Stephen credit for his support of Garrett which that alliance together helps influence Jerry's decisions.

Im giving Jerry credit for listening more and the more success Garrett had the more Jerry will listen . That's not delegating . Thats trusting your coach more and those involved because the success of their decisions.

I apologize for my knee jerk reaction but still I think committee makes the majority of decisions certainly not all.
I can say ,I see where the aversion to Jerry Jones time at the helm.

Why does Jerry only get blamed for the bad decisions and never the good decisions ?

Jerry's made good decisions before. He hired and listened to Jimmy. He trusted Bill to help him rebuild the team . Why isn't possible he's being influenced by Garrett as well to build a better team ? Because he iced a kicker or called a spike of the ball? Lol

Too many fans are influenced by mainstream media . It's lazy analysis . Much like they did with Romo.

Fans aren't intelligent, by nature. That's why they call them "fanatics."

" you have to convince Jerry to go against his instincts" Parcells said.

Obviously Stephen and Jason are winning more of the battles in recent years but not all of them.

It doesn't mean the buck still doesn't stop with Jerry. And it doesn't mean Jerry couldn't still blow it.

That's not doom and gloom . I call it like I see it.
I'm more excited and optimistic than I've been since early 90's. But I'm also still weary and guarded from our greatest obstacle .

I think Garrett should be fired if he doesn't win at least one playoff game this year.

Incorrect sir. They let him get away.
I'm very anxious to hear this story. Please tell. Because the Cowboys made an offer, Murray didn't take it and demanded a brinks truck full of money and the Cowboys didn't want to pay that much and so he packed his bags and walked out the door. All on his own. Romo and Garrett wanted him to stay. He took his talents to Philly.

Trust me, this issue was beat to death in here early day that off season. You weren't around to get in on all that fun. But there was little doubt that at the end of the day, Murray clearly walked away from the Cowboys. The Cowboys certainly didn't let him get away.

We could have stepped up to the plate and we didn't have to pay as much as Philly did but much more than we offered which was a joke.

That little offer we made was just to present a perception we wanted to keep him but we knew wasn't enough and had already made up our mind he was gone.

Not wanting to pay more is letting him go regardless how you want to word it. I can't believe you really thought that was a serious offer to retain him .

It's a much better argument that we let him go as a Cap move.

My argument is that we really didn't want to retain Murray at the kind of contract he was going to demand for several reasons.

One which is the best argument in a Cap move especially with Dez contract looming.

Two our confidence in our OL in that we could develop Randle and or bring in another less expensive RB like McFadden without losing much.

Three his injury history which is another good argument hesitating offering a long term contract.

But I definitely never saw a good presentation that Dallas made any genuine offer in the ballpark to retain him.

As a matter of fact the rhetoric coming out of Valley Ranch was we were preparing to move on and basically pushing him out to the highest bidder. I've never seen anyone close to the Cowboys argue we thought our offer was a move we thought would retain him.

And I argued this subject to great links on other sites. Now there were fans who followed or supported the status quo coming out of Valley Ranch or supported the Cap or injury angle which I'll address in greater length in my proposition I argued coming up since you asked .

If our intent was to truly to retain Murray we had other options even with Cap implications, his injury history and Dez contract looming which we also bundled.

The Dez contract had an impact on the decision as well . We were convinced Dez was a talent tougher to replace and apparently more critical to our offense which is another argument I'm not going to get into here .

But basically if we were determined to sign Dez we should have done so before the Murray confrontation not even bothering to Franchise Dez which turned in to be a wasted effort . We were totally out played by Dez for reasons I mentioned earlier.

With our concerns that 2014 was contributed to the OL, his additional carries along with his injury history issues ,it would have been more sensible assuming we were really interested in retaing him, to franchise Murray instead of Dez. But IMO we became too arrogant of our OL .

We even had fans claiming it was all our OL after Murray was under utilized by Eagles. Typical media driven lazy analysis by many. We even had fans bashing DeMarco for signing with the Eagles. Really sad childish behavior by some fans. Murray truly wanted to stay here.

Anyway..Then we could put the long term decision off at least one more year while locking Dez up. Instead we rolled the dice disrupting the chemistry, success and momentum we built in 2014 not to mention it placed additional pressure on Romo in 2015 without the security of that proven running game with Murray.

I'd even suggest that even before Romo's injury in 2015 that we didn't look the same without Murray which was a huge concern for me going in and that it did place more pressure on Romo to move the offense . Then you take Dez out with his injury then all of a sudden we are missing two of our Tripletts. The rest is history.

I'd even suggest that this was a factor which led to Romo's career coming to an end early with placing him in jeopardy with more opportunity for additional injuries. With Romo's injury history and how critical he was to our offense and success already nearing 35 at the time I would have made every effort to retain the core of that offense and Tripletts in 2014.

That running game was a major contributor in Romo's most effective season bringing us to the brink of a championship game while protecting Romo. Little did we know that would be Romo's last chance.

Let's assume Murray is injured in 2015 or less productive , Romo is still hurt and the season ends similarly then you don't feel as strong of sense to offer that long term contract or his worth is lessened greatly especially if we're looking in another direction at QB or he's easier to sign with his worth drastically reduced.

The other scenario is he has another great season and or we go deeper in the playoffs with Romo staying healthy and we Franchise him one more time. Maybe if we win a championship we might even have to let him go because his worth is so high we truly cant afford him. A Cap move we certainly are more able or willing to accept with our 6th ring.

I'm not blaming Romo's injury on losing Murray which often was a knee reaction to my proposal but only suggesting it could have been a contributor in placing him in a more vulnerable situation. I'd also argue our 2014 team was better than 2016 and would have made a greater effort to keep it in place.

With the selection of Elliott it's obvious we saw what we were missing and made it our highest priority in 2016.

Jerry has given you PTSD or something. Its ridiculous how gloom and doom you are about anything that Jerry has his hand on. Even when the overwhelming evidence to the contrary
