The fact is there's a time to clap and give your team that positive uplifting clap and praise. Losing 3 games in a row, on the verge of 4 in a row due to extremely poor mental errors in 3 of the 4 games is not a time to be clapping. After that STs TD, that is the time to gather everyone on the team around and really lay into them. Tell them to pull their heads out. Tell them if they don't want it, somebody sitting on the bench damn sure does.

That's exactly the point, though. Garrett's whole thing is to be your best, regardless of circumstances. If he lost his business just because the team were slumping, he'd lose his credibility. There isn't the option of chewing somebody out just because that's what fans want to see.

Superior coaches can win despite injuries and suspensions--within reason.

I wasn't going to pin the first two losses on Garrett due to who the team was missing--Romo, Bryant, and a significant portion of your front seven.

The third loss was a matter of running into a buzzsaw without the offense to maintain pace. Again, it's tough to pin that loss on Garrett.

However, we are getting to the point when there are enough players returning from injuries and suspensions that Garrett--if he is the coach Jerry thinks he is--should be able to pull out some wins.

The problem I have is that areas of the team that have been problems all season are still problems today. The kicking coverage. The takeaways. The tackling wasn't as big an issue today, but it's been a problem for weeks. A lot of these things have very little to do with the injury situation.

Tell me, where is the issue we are having right now? Our D wasn't perfect, because it's not a perfect D, but they played well enough to win. Our running game? Surprisingly strong.

Where was our biggest issue? The QB position.

I know, it's shocking, but there is a drop off when losing your franchise QB and a guy who was currently a third string QB starts games for you. We are losing games because we lost our MVP, not having our best receiver isn't helping our backup either.

Thats a double edged sword. How long can he clap and praise before the leadership on the team see it as going easy on players for screwing up. The constant mental errors have to be addressed and I don't see how chewing your players out every once in a while would make him lose credibility. If that's all his credibility lies upon, then he never had any to begin with. There is a time to do each and with the natural ebbs and flows of a season most of the time the clap is fine. When you've essentially beaten yourself 3 of the last 4 games and looked crappy the 2 before that some butt chewing is more than warranted.

I agree for the most. Even with the three picks, they still had an excellent chance of pulling the game out until the coverage team went braindead.

Then I would say he has foolishly painted himself into a corner.

Teams do win with backup quarterbacks. Despite the three interceptions, they were still in the game. It wasn't until the special-teams meltdowns that the game was lost.

Wasn't trying to rail on you... amazingly, I quote a blip from the movie Stripes and tell a story about a couple
buddies of mine and your friend, airbag, and yourself make me out to be a racist... smh... only on the internet, I guess.
Well, no harm intended... apologies... be sure to stay out of the sun..... okay, I just had to try one more... that's the last one.
No more jokes... Good day.

I must admit, you are well equipped with the zingers and one-liners. Even in the midst of my short-lived anger, I cracked a smile at your initial response. Yeah, it was that good.

The mere fact that you quote movies is awesome. Me too from time to time. I've never seen Stripes. You transitioned it effortlessly.

The problem is you putting emphasis on freakin' clapping!

Ever hear about Pete Carroll's method of coaching? This guy is one step shy of sending his players stuffed teddy bears and creating safe places for them after a loss. The Seahawks are one of the more brutal and smash mouth teams in the league.

Again, this is a mundane issue. All game analysis goes out the window when this team loses; it's very "Love everyone when they win, hate everyone when they lose". This entire discussion is ridiculous.

It's all good we all get to that point and sometimes we just lose our cool. It's not just on Garrett, it's on Stephen Jones for not re-signing D. Harris, It's on our Special teams coach for not having "Lucy" returning kicks, it's on Linehan for not running in critical situations with Cassell at QB, it's on Marinelli for keeping Hayden and Mincey in there on passing downs, it's on Matt Cassel for being Matt Cassel, it's on Pollaceck for waiting until week six to run power/pulls, it's on our WR's for running bad routes.
He might clap too much, but no coach in the league can toss the challenge flag like Red . . . . . . .:D

...and us staying in the game after 3 turnovers is a criticism of a coaching staff, how? This could have easily turned into a blowout after those turnovers.

Teams do not consistently win with their backups. Most teams have trouble consistently winning with their starting QB. Winning 2 games should have always been the expectation, and even that is a little high.

The one area that needs to be fixed is us creating turnovers on defense. If that starts to happen, we start to get Ws. We have gotten quite unlucky in that department. One ball bounces our way and we are looking at a W.
