The very fact that this trade happened shows that the ownership is questioning the QB position.
No it doesn’t . It shows they are looking to the future . They know Rush isn’t heir apparent.

Now, if they don’t renew Prescotts contract by next year then you have a story . Until then Lance is a potential heir apparent.

that would be bad for you. what would you do if Dak left the cowboys. you have nothing to comment about. literally nothing.
Nothing anyone says or believes has any influence on what will take place.
Cap being spent now on several players is a clear and evident message being sent to not only Dak but specifically Daks agent.
Tads getting a bit irritated as well.

If you move on from Dak, I don’t think it will be Lance vs Rush. I think it will be Lance vs a draft pick. Rush is either let go as well or stays as the backup. Loser of the competition is the developmental QB.
There will be other consequences if you lose Dak to injury this year.

1. Cooks and Gilmour will play our their contracts, but you will see marked change in their demeanour as the plans for the 2023 season late in their careers will be considered a waste.

2. Young guns like Lamb and Parsons will be talking to their agents about the strategy to approaching Dallas. If they are going to sign onto a rebuilding team then they are going to pursue the highest possible contract from the Cowboys to compensate for the few years of mediocrity they will suffer on a rebuilding team. Players are motivated by two things. Money and Championships. You would love to get both, but you are gunning for one for sure.

3. Older players and staff will be looking. If they are on the downside of their careers of their careers, then see above. But typically teams will not give lucrative third and fourth contracts to JAGs so look for them to try to run off to ascending teams or send their agent to plead for a chance to join the Patriots. In this latter case they will be rolling the dice because of team culture and the coach.

Teams are set from year to year. If your QB#1 goes down so many dominoes fall or shift.

Heir apparent?

You think Lance is going to sit around for 5 or 6 years waiting for Dak to leave?

Lance isn't some generic back up QB that was brought in to sit for a Dak extension.

I think he is prepared to sit down for max two years. For sure one year.

Yes and no. They made it no secret they wanted to draft a developmental QB this year (I think they liked Aiden O'Connell) but the guys they wanted were gone before the round Dallas pegged them for. I think they see Lance as the QB they would have taken (he's still only 23).

The fact he has 1st round pedigree has a lot of people thinking he's a threat to Dak but the reality is Dallas only gave up a 4th for him.

Don't read me wrong, I hope the Cowboys strike gold and steal their next franchise QB (like Dak being a 4th rounder and Romo being a UDFA), but right now Lance is so raw it's all speculation.

No, I’m thinking more like 2 or 3 years before he gets a shot.

How long do you think he sits in Buffalo who also was pursuing him.
