Lance was never a threat to Dak. The only threat to Dak is his play or if he gets injured. Lance will only get a chance if something happens to Dak and Rush is not not playing well. Lance job this season will be the scout team quarterback and learn MM’s system. This will be a learning season for Lance if all goes well. So the negative threads that say he is terrible or he will take Dak’s spot are stupid.

Everyone sees the writing on the wall.

Dak is on the way out.
It is possible. I think dak (and his agent) is probably demanding more than the jones want to pay him, plus other things in the contract, time, no trade etc.
So maybe they draft a qb, trade for one, develop trey and give rush a try depending on who else they get.

Or knowing jerry, he may give dak what he wants.

I'm believing it to be more of a time issue in SF, they gave up the farm for Lance, but the situation was not right for everyone involved.
If we hit on even future draft picks for this 4th round investment its called good business.
I we hit on a potential starter even better.
It’s a worthwhile risk for a potential heir apparent franchise QB.

Unfortunately until we extend Prescotts contract it’s created a talking point for the Dak hacks.

I think the Lance trade is telling Dak he's not getting what he wants.

You don't cause all this unnecessary drama and distraction at the QB position for no reason.

If this was some old vet then it wouldn't be news. It's not though.

This was a message to Dak. You fail and you're out.

He’s already said he’s going to extend Dak sooner than later. The longer he waits the more fuel this adds for the Dak detractors .

Jerry isn't exactly trying to find a better QB, is he.... He has ignored the QB position for 7 seasons until this recent trade for Lance., and he did the same thing when Romo was playing. Dak wasn't drafted to be the immediate starter, it just ended up that way when Romo went down.

Will Lance end up replacing Dak? There's a chance Jerry brought him in to do just that, with the intent to avoid Dak breaking the bank again while providing mediocre play. But only Jerry can provide insight on this subject. I'm leaning more towards it being a drunk Jerry impulse trade and nothing more. No one but Jerry knows for certain
He drafted Mike White a few years ago and Ben DiNucci. Just because you’re not using a premium draft pick on a QB doesn’t mean you’re ignoring the position. We found Dak with a 4th round pick. Jerry just used a 4th round pick for Trey Lance. He’s trying to do better than Dak without having to burn a premium draft pick. There’s certainly no guarantees with a first or second round draft pick you’ll land a great QB. Jerry is definitely thinking more than just backup QB with Trey Lance but Lance developing into more than that is a real long shot. Dak’s play has been better than mediocre or he wouldn’t have gone 8-4 last season and won a playoff game. We have to stay with him until we know we have a better QB in place. Washington would be contending every year had they stayed with Cousins. They’ve been in the toilet ever since they let him walk.

Lance's acquisition created a talking point for talking sports heads and critics that will automatically kick in immediately AFTER the extension as well.

If he's so sold on Dak why bring in the kid?

Why not just sign a vet or keep Grier?

Dak fans all shook right now trying to explain this one away and a nothing burger.
Because they don’t believe Grier or Rush for that matter are heir apparent talent .

And they felt a 4th round pick was worth the risk for that potential level of talent to try and develop.

You really should follow what our ownership has been saying. Unless you have other inside info?

My sources tell me the writing is on the wall.

Trey Lance will not supplant Dak unless injury. And even then the team will go with Rush until he shows he cannot lead a stacked team.
All the gushing over Lance reminds me of when the Beatles came on Ed Sullivan. The girls in school on Monday were just like a great deal of you. Pining away on something that will never take place.

And that is not what I'm looking forward to, his next contract...see if he wants to help himself or his team, and of course the whole organization.

At the least omit the (sorry JJ, but I ain't going anywhere) until I tell you I want to. See if he wants to really carry on the legacy as a Dallas Cowboy...see if them true colors come out.

I still don’t understand why Jerry traded for Lance, unless he plans on using him as trade bait

The restroom in that truck stop, where your source printed this information on the wall of stall number three - the one that hasn't been cleaned in a year - is grossly mistaken.
