The idea of MM being retained is a slap in the face to all Cowboys fans

The slap in the face was giving Dak $60m and anything else he demanded. This time last year we were talking $45m.

At this point it makes sense to keep MM. MM did produce Dak's best year by far in 2023. He can generate an efficient productive passing attack. His players play and more importantly train for him.

I also like Zimmer. Dude adjusted all year long to serviceable despite all the DE and LB injuries and overall lack of talent in the front 7. Secondary was similarly brutalized.

I am more concerned about Schottenheimer and Solari and the mediocre at most, master at none run scheme. I had hoped to see more of what Schottenheimer did with Carrol at the Seachickens with the motion and running any play from any formation deception with tons of middle iso. We do run some middle iso I guess.

If Solari keeps his job that would be a slap in the face after that OL performance. You have to go back pretty far to the dog years of Doug Free and Chaz Green for similarly bad OT play.

MM did not cause all those injuries nor elect to forgo VFA and leave gigantic holes on the roster even before the injuries. You think MM thought Zeke was good enough after cutting him the year before?

In person interviews with coaches currently under contract with a team cannot be done before January 20, 2025. No team is going to hire a head coach without talking to them in person. Obviously no team has signed a new head coach yet.
well whatever happened to the Jan 14th window, never heard of jan 20th

yeah I see it is, the football gods will have mercy on us, we'll have a decent year next year some how and jerry will be happy, fans will be back on board because somehow we got lucky, then somewhere in those next few years, we'll go back to being bad!!!!!!!!!

So even after the GB beat down, even after being a joke for most of last season, Jerry wants to keep him because the team played hard in a few games once they were pretty much out of it? You can’t make this crap up. To the idiots that will fill up Jerry’s stadium next year, stop! Next season needs to be a big ** to Jerry Jones. Enough is enough.

GM is biggest issue. But not excited about MM remaining as head coach. I think OL coach is a big issue. If MM does stay then I think he needs to hire a more innovative offensive coordinator and definitely a new offensive line coach.

I thought the Dak extension was divisive. At least some fans wanted him back. I don’t think anyone in the fanbase wants McCarthy to coach another game let alone more 5 seasons. If the Cowboys start slow it will be a complete S show.

Sitting on the couch, week after week, watching the Cowboys get blown out, one thing gave me (and a lot of Cowboys fans) solace was the fact that we would be moving on from Mike McCarthy and this failed regime. Who, even in the best of times, figured out ways to screw it up.

Now, in another debacle, we are left to twiddle our thumbs while the bumbling moron tries to figure it out. Not sure what can be done, but I had to vent.
Agree.

but I think #KMoore may have told Jerry NO.

this would change things…unfortunately.

He won’t though.

he would run the same jacked up “Texas Toast” scheme.

BASIC offense.

same jacked up Clock management, 4th down tries, and odd plays.

Do it Jerry. Throw more money at Big Mike.

hahaha

The fan base needs that continuity.

I’m ambivalent on who coaches Dallas next year.
I will say I don’t think there are any new or available head coaches out there who could have done more in 2024 with the garbage roster we rolled out there due to Jerry’s stubbornness and injuries. The coaching staff did a great job with very little.

Now, if you want a new coach because we didn’t succeed I. The playoffs the previous 3 years, that’s fair.

Forest for the trees.

When it's hard to see a huge difference between the "franchise" and a career backup QB, blame something else.

Dak the franchise killer.

McCarthy staying or going is a non-factor as long as Dak Prescott is the quarterback.
At least he is a legitimate head coach.
As long as Prescott is the quarterback Jason Garrett's influence and incompetence continues to poison the team.
CANNOT HAVE SAID THIS BETTER - AMEN

THE STENCH CONTINUES...WITH PLAYERS LIKE DAK, DLAW, ZACK MARTIN - ALL OVERPAID AND INJURED

I stopped watching this season and if Mike is brought back, that is likely to continue. This is a zero accountability culture and the results show in our Ws and Ls

Nope. The slap in the face is retaining Jerry as GM. MM is fine as a HC, not great and not terrible. BSPN has you guys believing that he's beyond awful, and he's not.

The NFL imposed that rule to slow the hiring process. I suppose the thinking is not letting teams feel they have to hire somebody before another team does, and not have coaches on playoff teams pulled away from their duties at an important time. No “in person” interviews until after the divisional round of the playoffs is complete. “Zoom” interviews are allowed. The delay on McCarthy is contractual.

Note—that only applies to coaches under contract to a team. Vrabel and Carroll, for example, are free on any current contracts. That will be McCarthy’s status on Tuesday.
