The most underrated bands in rock&roll history

this is probably the best guitar solo i've ever heard..this band did not do much but this is awesome.

When Vandenberg joined Whitesnake I almost lost it. Thought that made for a killer lineup of talent.

Yep, you rarely hear about the Faces but what a lineup:

Rod Stewart - vocals
Ronnie Wood (Rolling Stones) - guitar/bass
Kenny Jones (The Who) - drums
Ronnie Lane (Small Faces) - bass
Ian McGlagan (Rolling Stones part timer) - keyboards.

If you like the Faces, you'll like The Georgia Satellites.

If you listen to the vocal qualities, and the lyrics, Tracy Chapman has a very Earthy sound that's easy to get into, if you let yourself.

That is a great lineup.

They weren't together long enough, obviously, but Blind Faith had some legendary talent.
Only the one album though. And more of a blues band.
Not nominating them, but just something noteable.

Eric Clapton
Stevie Winwood
Ginger Baker
Ric Grech

April Wine.

Are the Tragically Hip known outside of the Canadian border areas? If not they might take home the trophy.
I was listening to some April Wine yesterday. I loved Tragically Hip too. I grew up around the San Antonio area and fortunately had a great radio station that brought a lot of what was at the time unheard of to the states.

Triumph
Rush
Frank Marino and Mahogany Rush
Pat Travers
Max Webster
Killer Dwarfs
Garfield
Moxy

I know I'm forgetting a bunch of others, but those were some of my Canadian favs of the era

Thin Lizzy was underrated, imo.

Dire Straits was too, but maybe popular enough not to qualify
I think there are way too many people who know only one or two Dire Straits songs, which IMO, makes them very underrated.

I saw them last May. Awesome show
Shame that Ian Astbury lost most of his vocal ability, he was a great singer in his prime. I saw some of the links from their recent shows it sounded completely different to me.

I'm about to show my age but I'd have to go with The Allman Brothers Band.
I agree and for a Southern Rock Jam band they could flat put out some sweet melodies, Jessica, In Memory of Elizabeth Reed, Blue Skies and Melissa just to mention a few.

I am going to offer up my favorite band of all time and was also my wife's favorite and I cannot listen to them now. If we're taking Rock in the broader context this band never quite fit into a niche and therefore radio didn't know what to do with them on most of their music. Their lineage is quite impressive with the players that they've had since their inception in 1968.

My top song of all time, Rose of Cimarron, used to bring tears to my eyes in one part where Timothy B. Schmit took his voice to a high I have never heard any contemporary singer reach before or since.

POCO is my nominee for most under-rated and appreciated band.
