So you're saying they all performed to the best of their abilities?

:lmao2:

Are you saying that the media distractions are the reasons they DIDN'T?

The media distractions are why the offense was stagnant for most of this season?

The media distractions made Flozell and Colombo regress as pass blockers. They caused the excessive injuries. They were the reason Cory Proctor couldn't block a lawn chair.

The media distractions caused Anthony Henry to do a piss poor job of covering people. They made Ken Hamlin and Keith Davis whiff tackles. They were the reason Jason Garrett got cute on 3rd and 1 over and over again. They made Wade Phillips not take over the defensive play calling until the Tampa Bay game.

I want you to specifically link the distractions to something that transpired on the field. Because ultimately, whether or not everyone in the locker room likes each other is irrelevant.

Distractions affect preparation, or to make it easy for you, practice. Generally, teams play how they practice. I've heard Fisher say something similar to that, and Jimmy Johnson as well.

Among others.

Players involved in a given distraction at a given time aren't going to admit that some sort of off the field squabble is hurting the team, especially during the season.

According to every Cowboy player questioned, they had a good week of practice prior to the Eagles game.

I was wondering why this was being ignored.

I hate hearing everyone talk about the cause of all of the Cowboys problems is TO. That's the dumbest thing I've ever heard. Honestly, he was probably the best performer for the team all year, with the exception of Demarcus Ware. How can you get rid of a guy that consistently has a 1000 yards a season, sometimes more?!?! There's no excuse about him causing trouble because it hasn't happened here the past couple years. The "Rumor" a few weeks back was the closest thing and it wasn't even a big deal.

Beats me. Ask Frisco and Philly.

The season derailed by magic.

Oh no, it obviously derailed because of media distractions.

After all, it couldn't have been the unfathomable amount of injuries, the inconsistent play of Tony Romo, and other players simply not performing, now could it?

Must be some sort of neat little reason...preferably some sort of abstract reason like "distractions."

That explains it.

Only a few who put player above team. The worst ever were the Church of Vinny idiots. Although I must admit I do miss jousting with The Major. Just because he was so ignorant and pompous at the same time.

The church of TO isn't near as funny, interesting, or informed as those guys, but just as delusional if they think the distractions were a welcome break for this team that had no contribution to a poor season. Oh well, what are you going to do, some people just will never grasp the game of football. I feel sorry for them.

Fair enough. He gets paid to do one thing. Catch anything you can touch. And I DO believe that if you're a pro, a TOP-TIER highly paid pro, you should catch anything you touch.
But again, anytime I hear the "me-me-me" from T.O., it's, 100% of the time", born from his desire to win. And he's correct that, on the short list of reasons for Dallas being able to win, he understands that HIM getting the ball helps a ton. Arrogant? Perhaps. Cocky? Yeah, maybe. But he's dead on right. "Get me the ball, and it ain't gonna' hurt our chances of winning".
That's what I hear "between the lines" when he goes off on one of his tirades...................

T.O. is wrong. He's a good receiver with a bad head on his shoulders. T.O.'s breathing down Romo's neck to "get him the ball" does "hurt their chances of winning" because Romo forces balls into double coverage and it adds an unneeded pressure. T.O.'s not a winner, he's a whiner. A winner does all the things it takes to win...even if it means catching one ball a game.

Let's examine the alleged Fisher statement, "distractions are the number one reason teams fail."

First, let's define fail. For some teams, not winning the Super Bowl is considered failure.

But to be fair, let's just say failure is not making the playoffs.

Each year since 2002, 20 teams have missed the playoffs.

So for this statement to be correct for this year, 11 of the 20 teams must have FAILED because of distractions.

And if my opponents in this thread have an accurate understanding of Fisher's quote, they must have been MEDIA distractions.

I contend that Fisher obviously wasn't referring to media distractions because that would be absurd. Here's why.

2008 Teams That Missed the Playoffs

Buffalo
New England
NY Jets
Cincinnati
Cleveland
Jacksonville
Houston
Denver
Oakland
Kansas City
Dallas
Washington
Green Bay
Chicago
Detroit
Tampa Bay
New Orleans
San Francisco
Seattle
St. Louis

So out of these teams, which had something (things) that could be considered legitimate media distractions?

I'll give you three teams--Dallas, Washington (not until after they were pretty much eliminated, however, with the Portis/Zorn thing), and Green Bay (Brett Favre).

And maybe you can throw in the Jets just because they play in New York and the New York media is always a "distraction." Course, the Giants didn't seem to have any problem dealing with it this year.

So that's 4 out of 20. That's not even close to the "#1 cause of failure."

So either Jeff Fisher was talking out of his ***, or he's not exactly referring to things that are blown up in the media as the type of "distractions" that derail football teams.

Considering he coaches the freak'n Tennessee Titans, who are as small market as it gets, I'm guessing the latter. What media controversies has he ever had that derailed his team?

And there you have the epitome of the Internet world. A fan on the Internet knows more about football locker rooms and chemistry than one of the best Head Coaches in the game. He wouldn't know anything about people thinking Vince Young was suicidal. That couldn't have caused any issues. Jeff Fisher mimics Ace Ventura.

Probably won his Fantasy League this year. Ya'll better recognize.

what interests me is that most T.O. supporters will agree he was cancer on the 2 other teams he played for yet the wonderful world of Dallas changed him...now hes just showing heart
