Very well said, Theebs. It can't be overlooked that the current political fiasco has everyone's attention, and is, too, drawing a lot of viewers away from the game. After the elections, I suspect numbers will climb back up, at least somewhat. People are glued to this election and it's taking viewers from all sorts of television programming, sports and otherwise,

I don't think politics has anything to do with anything concerning football honestly. Never has never will.

football and all sports fans want to root for and against someone. When there are Villains everything is better.

And I don't mean villains from the criminal aspect. Ray lewis history shows no one cares what these guys do none of the owners care either unless they lose money from companies via advertising.

If you look around the league right now there is no one creating this energy. Its just a bunch of guys. People do not hate Rodgers, Big Ben, Eli, Phillip Rivers etc......do casual fans know Phillip Rivers exists? A lot of people hate or hated Tom Brady, Peyton Manning and Tony Romo.

Even Rex Ryan can not generate any care at the moment....He is in buffalo, no one cares if he runs his mouth or whatever. Its just the way it is. When he is in NYC people care, they make him a villain now he comes off a bit like a whiny baby because he is in buffalo.

All the young marquis qb;s elicit almost no emotion. Andrew Luck, Jameis winston, Mariotta, bortles, David Carr etc... They just do not move the needle say like If Dak happens to play against Wentz on SNF october 30th. Then again even if he doesn't and Romo does it will be huge because these guys move the needle.

it just happens like this some years. Then it rebounds.

That's fine, man. I respect the hell out of your opinion. But I'm glued to sports tv/radio, and it's constantly talked about. We shall see as soon as the elections are over.

I completely agree, theebs, that the numbers rebound.

Television ratings and attendance are down.
Yeah, but is it a result of something the NFL did or didn't do? Or is it just natural attrition? The ratings had to go down at some point, they were skyrocketing.

Heck...7 miles from the Stadium..thats fantastic..so you must take in plenty of games. I am jealous.
Dude! If I lived that close I would go to at least a couple games a year! So lucky, Jazz!!!

I had season tickets from 2006 through 2015 season. I just sold the PSL's this past May.
I went to every game until the 2011 season, when I was out of town for my work. Got to one or two games a year, sold the rest.
Though I am back in town now, circumstances made me make the hard choice to sell. I probably could have kept them, but the relief of not dealing with them helps my blood pressure. LOL.

Dealing with selling and not losing money. They were expensive seats. Between the tickets and the PSL's, it was near $10,000 a year. Being out of town at those times, very stressful at times.
Now into retirement basically, that $10K just paid for having AC unit replaced in my house. LOL.

I will still go, as now I can pick and choose the games and seats.

Going to the Rangers game tonight though. Great seats too.

You have a lot to cheer for, bud. Rangers look real good man. Thanks for Josh Hamilton, btw :(

Yet, people want this bland, hand the ball to the ref and don't celebrate, or say anything interesting to the media prototype football player. TO made the game better because he was an awesome villain.

I go to 20 Angel games a year with my son, and about 10 Kings games a year. Have been thinking lately of purchasing Kings season tickets. I won't buy more than my 20 game plan for the Angels until Arte Moreno (our owner) goes, or loosens his grip on our poor franchise. He's worse than Jerry, if that's possible. Ruining the prime of the leagues best player, but I digress.

I love hockey...or at least the way it used to be played. Used to get to a lot of Montreal games...back when it was rough and tough and loved to go to those old Montreal-Boston showdowns...nobody was kissing and exchanging jerseys at the end of those games!!!

I don't go to too many Rangers game. Unless the tickets are given to me. I refuse to spend money on the MLB [except a Dr. Pepper and a soft pretzel at the game] until Pete Rose is in the hall of fame while he is alive.
I am actually still a bigger Reds fan, but will root for the Rangers too.
My friend has Stars tickets, and takes me to a few games a year. I could go to more, if I wanted. I probably will this year. I took him to the Lions Cowboys playoff game in 2014. He says he still owes me a lot of Stars games for that. I am cool with that. I had some fantastic seats at AT&T stadium.

I also like the Heat, Marlins and the NHL Panthers, as they all started while I was living in South Florida for 14 years. But no way, ever liked the Dolphins. They don't bother me as much now though.

I need to get to a Mavericks game though. Never been to one of their games yet.

You might just get perma-likes from me for that very quote, Jazz... it's a damn shame Rose isn't in the Hall and I could very easily put a 3,000 word post here on why. It sickens me that he isn't in. And I'll leave it there. Kudos brother.

ETA -- that's awesome that you, too, enjoy multiple sports and venues. It really is a great experience to open ones self to the many different leagues we have here in the US

Yep, those kind of players help, but the league needs more Romo types. Guys that are lightning rods. JJ Watt is kind of that, as is Cam Newton and Eli Manning.

The lovin' and huggin' after games doesn't sit well with fans either. Most of the players don't look like they give a rip if they won or lost.

Been to one game in Montreal, back in 2005. Was up there for my work for 6 months. Loved the Montreal Jazz Festival. Was there almost every night.
Best Salmon I ever had was at Wienstein and Gavino's. I think it was on Crescent Ave....well Rue Crescent actually. LOL

I used to be a Reds fan as a kid because of Pete Rose and living nowhere near an MLB team. Huge fan of the Big Red Machine...Concepcion, Foster, Griffey, Morgan, Perez, Bench, Geronimo.... What a team.

Gave them up during the Gary Redus days for the Cubs because they were on TV all the time. Picked up on the Rangers in the late 80s when I moved here, and stayed with them since.

That's an all-or-nothing statement. And while I, also, don't like seeing it, there are a ton of fans that do, in fact enjoy seeing it (I can't fathom why, myself). Something about sportsmanship, blah blah blah. Just saying...

Well. I still get to the city occasionally. One of the best, most livable cities in North America. The hockey I was refering to goes back to the 70's and 80's.,

Perfect Example. I couldn't stand him. I hate the me first players and don't want them on my team. Just like Deion Sanders I wanted Dallas to kick the tails of the teams that had these types of guys.

The vast majority do not. Especially if they have a rooting interest in the game.

The 70s were awesome because it was very plainly and clearly obvious the Cowboys and Commanders players deeply and personally hated each other. Many still won't talk to each other at all to this day.

Another thing I had to do was to drive by old Jerry Park. though torn down, but the actual park was still there. Where the Montreal Expos used to play. Now the Washington Nationals for those youngsters that didn't know Montreal had a baseball team..

Used to drive by there, going to Champs Sports Bar to watch Cowboys games when they weren't on regular TV.
