Week to week league. We see proof every Sunday. You can't read to much into each week.

One thing is ALWAYS true - you are never as good as you look on your best day and never as bad as you look on your worst day.

If you consider both the above statements, it's easier to make sense of the season as it goes along.
Woah, Big Dog. That was deep, I liked how that sounded. ;).

One undeniable thing about NFL seasons, and we all know this, is that all 32 teams fight a war of attrition every year. We've watched this in the current season already (e.g. losing CB Diggs).
Today two of the NFC leaders limped home with upset losses and injuries to key players. SF losing to the Browns, with injuries to McCaffrey, Deebo Samuels, and T Trent Williams; Eagles let the Jets come back and win today, and all pro T Lane Johnson hobbled. Things look different today than a week ago.
You can fall from the penthouse to the outhouse in 6 days in the NFL. No team is immune... you have to bring it every week in the league-- and manage your resources if you expect to be seeded in the January tournament.

We face a mutant QB tomorrow and they get Ekeler back.

I don’t know why Vegas has us favored honestly.
The "mutant QB" is 0-1 against us.

He had Ekeler that day too, but he won't have Mike Williams tomorrow.

In 1971 the Dallas Cowboys lot to the New Orlean Saints who were still 16 years away from their very first winning season. To top it off, the Saints quarterback was a rookie, some guy by the name of Archie Manning.

That season they also lost to the Chicago Bears who didn't even have a quarterback. They had a big RB that occasionally threw the ball. Bobby Douglas completed 40.2% of hjs passes that season and threw three times as many INT's as he did TD's.

They also lost to Washington who had not been to the playoffs since the end of World War II.

They started the 1971 season 4-3.......and won the Super Bowl.

NFL teams don't have to look dominant in September and October. It's all about which teams are healthy and peaks in December.

There is only a marginal difference in the talent level of the best and worst teams in the NFL. The teams that play as a team, are well coached, healthy, and make big plays late in the season are the true contenders.

Only lesson I learned today is how pathetic our team is. We badly lost to the 49ers— who were torn apart by the brown down Browns of all teams. Cardinals keep looking like the Top 3 draft pick team every week yet we struggled heavily against them.
And the Jets got murdered by us and the Eagles lost to the Jets who were missing half their secondary. Boom ! This is too easy

I dunno, man. Until it happens otherwise, I will expect the Cowboys to make it to the playoffs only to choke in them. That is one constant I can hang my hat on.
That's exactly what people thought in 1971. It was said that Landry can't win the big one.

The best teams often sleep walk through games against bad teams, and sometimes they even lose.

But those same teams know how to step up in the games that really matter and perform.

That's not us.
Did you see the 2nd Eagles game last year and the Bucs game in the playoffs?

Lol, check the records at the end of the season. Here's a hint, if they win 12 again, they aren't pathetic.

You see it on our forum all the time. Fans look at the schedule and pick wins and losses. A bad loss means a team sucks. A big win makes a team unbeatable. Until the next week. The Cowboys looked unbeatable the first two weeks. Then the cards and niners had something to say about that.

So who had the browns winning today? The jets beating the e-girls? The chiefs struggling with the hapless broncos? The giants should have won in Buffalo tonight. Jalen Hurts now has more picks (7) than he had all of last year. None of us saw that right?

I have no idea what’s going to happen to our Cowboys tomorrow night against the chargers. But I can say nothing would surprise me. Whatever any of us think we know how things will turn out this year, we don’t know.

It‘s a long season. The Cowboys are still in the thick of everything. But I won’t buy any contender hype again until I see some grit and toughness from this team for a change.
Back in 92 we got stomped by the Eagles. We got a rematch and the rest is history.

The season is a body of work and how they are playing around Christmas is what matters. Philly looks very beatable. Need to win our division games. Chargers tonight.

Same ol. Choke in the playoffs. Bottom feed. Bow down to teams well over .500. Fold against the run. Inability to overcome a deficit. Poor pass blocking. Zero Oline depth. Weak LB play.

Same weaknesses for over 10 years. Stop falling for the same oke doke every year.

If that is true, why hasn't it worked in the Cowboys favor? They seem to be on the other end of the spectrum.

Well you're forgetting a few things most importantly we don't have Roger Staubach to pull the rabbit out of the hat when we need it.

We also don't have a running game that includes Calvin Hill and Dwayne Thomas.

We don't have the fastest man in the world at receiver like they did in Bob Hayes.

We have the kitty cat version of Doomsday they had the real version that could stop the run Bob Lilly Jethro Pugh Larry Cole Leroy Jordan.
And they had one of the best coaches of all time in Tom Landry.
Unfortunately we don't measure up to that team in any way shape or form

Doesn't change a thing. This team has been a pretender at best over the last couple of seasons. It's not about an individual loss or win. But don't give me that "just one game" crap anymore. We haven't been able to beat the 9ers in three (two of them important) games now. And not only that, we have been humiliated that last time.

So whereever the "any given sunday" talk goes after a couple of days have gone by after this crushing defeat, in the end the Cowboys just aren't capable atm. Starting with the guy under center we have so many holes in the wall it's a miracle it's still standing. Beating up the little guys but getting our butts kicked when the big ones come along. Nothing has changed. And I have no reason to believe otherwise until they show us in the play offs that they can win a couple in a row.

Until then its just a long pre season.
