This process would be a strange way of showing support for your supposedly enthusiastically rehired coach.

He's coming back. There is no other explanation. Look how the events unfolded:
Assistants told they can seek work elsewhere, but Garrett wasn't.
Garrett meets w Joneses for 2 days.
Jones and Garrett meet w players but not to say goodbye.
Garrett tells media he is still fighting for his job.
Jerrah tells media he doesn't care if all the named available coaches are hired elsewhere.

Jerrah said Garrett would easily get a job elsewhere if he was let go. Jerrah wouldn't then make Garrett wait until the other jobs were filled.

Garrett is coming back with all new assistants (fall guys). It's obvious.
This is the only scenario that makes sense given what we have seen today. It does not take multiple meetings to part ways. Multiple meetings is a negotiation.

Was this question ever answered? Does Garrett’s contract expire on Wednesday or January 14th?

You cant make this up. Whats the point of exit interviews when you not coming back? No other team is run this way.

Because maybe Garrett can actually drill it into Jerry's head that Jerry needs to give the HC more power and maybe hire a GM that can be a hatchet man and get rid of people that need to be gotten rid of quick rather than having Jerry's loyalty keep players far longer than is good for the team.

If Garrett is definitely leaving and doing an exit interview, he has no reason not to tell Jerry the truth rather than shutting up and taking his money.

Not trying to start a fight. Not saying you should care, Just saying that Jerry does, Jerry has made this personal. This isn't a boss and employee relationship. Jason should have been fire along time ago we all know this

The guy isn't going off to war, he made a boatload of money and him and his family will be fine. It's not the end of the world for either of them. Move on, stay in touch, get together for dinner. Jesus, Jerry's turning this into a high school breakup. No you hang up, no you hang up!!! lol ridiculous as usual.

Just got home, opened up the computer, logged on to read the official "Jason Garrett is fired" thread and I see this crap instead?

What the hell is going on? Garrett is conducting exit interviews? Why?

I dont see Schumer conducting exit interviews in NY. I dont see Kitchens doing exit interviews in Cleveland. In fact, I cant recall any head coach just hanging around doing routine stuff after they were told their services were no longer needed. Now I hear Garrett and Jerry are going to have more meetings tomorrow? Again, why? It doesn't take multiple meetings to tell somebody their services are no longer needed. You have multiple meetings when you are negotiating.

So what exactly could they be negotiating? Seems like there are only two logical scenarios that would require some sort of negotiation. First is that Garrett is being offered a front office job and they have to negotiate exactly what he will be doing. Is it just a figure head position so everybody can save face, Garrett avoids the embarrassment of being fired and Jerry doesn't have to admit he was wrong. Or, is it actually a real front office job with actual duties and responsibilities, maybe like head of scouting or something like that. Wasn't his dad a scout for a long time here.

The second scenario is so evil and twisted I dare not mention it by name. Lets just say it involves the entire coaching staff being let go except for Jerry's adopted son. Everybody gone but him and new coordinators are hired with pretty much complete autonomy over their areas. This way Jerry can claim that he is committed to change since he knows the fan base is demanding it, but he also gets to keep his adopted son around, thus he escapes having to admit he was wrong. Garrett stays but is pretty much in charge of nothing, OC runs he offense, DC runs the defense, and the ST guy runs the special units. Its like firing Garrett without actually firing him.

So which scenario is it? I guess we will find out tomorrow, maybe.
Maybe he'll be retained as HC but this time he doesn't have to show up to practice, the draft, or on game days?

Yeah..

But if coaches are being told they are free to go elsewhere for jobs..

that's seismic.

Those coaches under contract are whom.?

They will get the remainder of their deals probably paid out by Jones and move onto their deals have not expired.

This should indicate that the new coach has the staff already pencilled in to come to Dallas.

Just read 18 coaches had their contracts expire today.

This is like Jimster leaving UM back in the day and he brought the UM staff with him.

Intereresting.
You’re speculating! The longer this takes the more chance of Jerry sticking with Garrett. I don’t like it. He deserved to be fired long ago. Give him the boot, now!!
