So here's the question. Let's say it's a playoff game and it's 4th and goal from the 12 and there is one second left on the clock and we are down 4 points.Who would you rather have as QB, Lance or Roger Staubach.
Before answering, please remember that Staubach is 82 years old

Tough decision.

They are mutually exclusive. Not sure why you can't comprehend that.

Jerry thought he was trading for a future starting QB, when the Niners had already figured out he was not a QB.
And you’re deflecting from your stupid analogy.

Except that's not true. Lance was made the 3rd QB, and at that point he asked to be traded and the 49ers agreed to do it.

Like teams give players other opportunities, this situation was exactly the same thing.

You’re just reading it through Lance-hate or Dak-homerism.

It does mean something if you are evaluating him. 5 picks were bad, but the 323 yds and 90 rushing yards has to be factored in as well, because he is being evaluated.
It means nothing with the 5 picks. If he had 200 yards 2 touchdowns and on interceptions I’m fine with that.

I can’t win in this league throwing 5 interceptions. Just can’t. The objective is to win.

Dak in 2016 played way more than Trey has in his 4 seasons.

What point are you trying to make? This whole “dak hate is unfair” bit is lame. He deserves every ounce of criticism he gets.

Remember, he told you to move on after throwing 2 first half ints against a 7-seed at home

The Cowboys moving on from Dak does not prove that Trey Lance has done anything to show he can be a reliable starter for the Cowboys. Who can go up against starting defenses on a week to week basis. And be great and consistent enough to keep the Cowboys as a playoff contending team. While leading us past the 2nd round in the playoffs where defenses will be heightening up the pressure on him way more than he has been in the preseason. Where he still struggled.

If he is having a hard time against 3rd and 4th string defenses. What is he going to do against starting defenses. Where DCs will be mixing up looks and making him go against complex packages he has never seen in this preseason?

GM's need to stop wasting high draft picks on great athletes trying to become QB's. If that is what you want just wait until the 4th round or later.
Well...that should be the least of the Jerry and Stephen worries. Those type of QBs will be NIL Kings. They won't buy into the Star hype
If GM's are looking for QB's early in the draft then they better damn well already be a QB. It really does not seem to be that complicated.
It is complicated.....how many early draft QBs have won the Superbowls.

It is a crap shoot. This is the primary reason Cowboys shouldn't let Prescott leave until his play diminishes or a QB young or old beats earns QB1 in a training camp battle

With that logic another team should be happy to give us at least a 7th round pick in 2028.
Your logic makes no sense.

No one is giving us a 7th to take on his guaranteed money. Lance's chance was this pre-season.

That said, he's staying as we already have to pay his year 4 salary, so no sense in cutting him. You gotta have a 3rd QB and we are already on the hook for his contract.

I don't like the way Trey looked on this tackle. I won't be surprised if he played through an injury to end the game.

That’s another thing. People keep saying he will improve with reps…how? He won’t get any playing time.

I don't believe it is really a crap shoot. Winning SB's is more of a reflection of a GM than a QB.

Crappy teams have high draft picks. They draft a QB, thinking that QB's win SB's by themselves.

They have poor results, yes because their team sucks.

News flash QB's do not win SB'a by themselves.

If anyone is paying attention the model has just been rewritten in SF. If you have a good balanced team you only need Mr Irrelevant as a bus driver to make a deep playoff run.

This team has enough talent to sign a decent QB after this season and do well. He doesn't have to be an All Pro.

Saw a lot of good from Lance, but also a lot of bad. Some of those throws were awful especially the int’s. But his mobility was in elite status. He also had some good throws. A lot of them. But he showed why he’s not ready and needs another year or 2. But good showing and I think some teams might be calling the GM about a trade.

Big and serious question here.

Should the Niners fork out $50M+ for Purdy when his contract comes do, or should they just draft another QB with a lot of experience coming out of college?

They have proven a well balanced team can make a QB's job significantly easier.

In theory they could trade Purdy. Most likely get a high draft pick in exchange and save $50M+ to continue to make sure they keep a well balanced team for their next QB.
