I've heard so many varying amounts on how much they take out in taxes if you take the lump sum. I always thought it was around 28 percent. But then I read some article from some financial guy that it's ultimately half of it when it's all said and done.
Was an interesting article, said don't even claim the prize until you can find a national law firm to hire and make decisions on what to do with it, setting up trusts for family, never just give money to a family member, so they don't become a Paris Hilton type. Also said not to hire a financial advisor, to stick with tax attorneys

300 million people in USA, give or take. Pot around 1.2 billion divided by 300 mil = 4 something mill per person.

Just a bad math joke :D

Saw those memes on Facebook when it first came out by a couple people I know, I really hoped they were joking.ha

I had a nightmare last night where Justin Bieber was bored, paid $10k in tickets and won the powerball himself.

Another problem with the annuity that doesn't get talked about is inflation. Though it's growing tax-free, $35 million a year now may be equivalent to $20 million a year in 2040. Not exactly a bad problem to have, but something to keep in mind.

At this point being a single winner of that large amount of money.... I'd be a bit scared from a safety stand point for my daughter and I.

Yeah I've been thinking that too. I would always be looking behind by back. That's an insane amount of money!

Which is why you'd actually set it up as a trust; you could call it 'Dante Family Trust' or 'DF Trust' to help protect your name.
