Matchup --- Who we want to win --- Why

* Cowboys/Commanders --- Commanders --- A loss guarantees us at worst the 4th pick, a win gives us at worst the 8th pick

* Browns/Steelers --- Browns --- We'd jump the Browns in draft order due to weaker strength of schedule (SOS)

* Chargers/Broncos --- Chargers --- We'd jump the Chargers due to worse record

* Packers/Vikings --- Vikings --- A Packers loss would decrease our SOS and give us a chance to jump the Chargers even if the Chargers lose

* Seahawks/Cardinals --- Cardinals --- A Seahawks loss would decrease our SOS and give us a chance to jump the Chargers even if the Chargers lose

* Dolphins/Patriots --- Dolphins --- A Dolphins win would increase the Chargers' SOS and give us a chance to jump them even if they lose

* Jaguars/Texans --- Jaguars --- A Jaguars win would increase the Chargers' SOS and give us a chance to jump them even if they lose

There are two other games that could matter this weekend if Cleveland wins. We have a worse strength of schedule than Cleveland by one game. If Cleveland gains a game on us, they could stay ahead of us in draft order even if they win.

Here are those two games:

* Titans/Colts --- Titans --- A Titans win would increase Cleveland's SOS and likely allow us to jump them in the case that they beat the Steelers.

* Jets/Bills --- Jets --- A Jets win would increase Cleveland's SOS and likely allow us to jump them in the case that they beat the Steelers.

Great post, I've been curious what outcomes might help us with SOS,,,, though I'm wondering how a Dolphins win would increase San Diego's SOS and not our's since we played the Dolphins this year as well..

I hope that Washington wins in overtime...6-3.

...and there are enough possibilities for a top QB being where Dallas is in the upcoming draft.

What happens if Dallas and Washington ends in a tie. Most likely not, but how would that effect our position?

It would be a minimal drop to #5 at worst. If that occurred and SF lost, SF would be 4-12 while we'd be 4-11-1. We'd flop picks and they'd have #4 and we'd go to #5.

I want the Panthers to beat the Bucs and the saints to beat the Falcons, if that happens then we'd play the Bucs next year instead of the Saints.

And we lost to both this season, in games we could have won. I don't think it matter which team we play. I think the Saints have a better chance at being worse next year, than the Buccs actually.

Only game that matters is the jets and bills. But I know the stealers will get lucky and the jets will blow it and let them in the playoffs.

Right, a nightmare in the making right there.
The StEAlers missing the playoffs helps that we are missing the playoffs too.
If GB and NE gets bounced in their 1st games, it will be good too.

Which I am pulling for Vikings over the Packers this week, so Vikes can win the division.

Our defense usually does bad against top flight qbs so when I look at the schedule I look to see how many of those we'll see. Winston is not in that category so what I'm saying is that I'd rather play against Winston than Brees.

We played the entire AFC East and since all week 17 games are division games, it doesn't matter who wins or loses the Dolphins/Patriots game since we played them both. Each team plays three entire divisions a year (including their own) along with two "stray" games against teams in the two remaining divisions in their conference. Those two teams are the only ones that matter in Week 17 (SOS wise).

And I understand that, and can't disagree. But I was looking at it, that TB has improved as a team. And NO has regressed as a team. But Brees can be that difference maker too, as Winston will only be in his 2nd year, and there will be a years worth of film to dissect on how they use him.
So, yes I can agree with wanting to play them over NO now that you put it that way.
