The real PROBLEM w/ this team is JJ

Really don't get how people still throw the blame on Jerry and ignore the coaches.

I guess we'll see when Wade is gone after this yr and see how the next coach does...

Who hired the coaches? Ultimately, Jones is at the root of all this franchise's problems.

Yes, but we also led the league in sacks last season.. with the same coach. Now we've got nothing. Our offense has been decent, but there's just been so many questionable decisions it's quite mind boggling.

I think Jones, instead of just snapping and firing everyone, is giving them one more shot this year--mainly because of the coaching available next season.

Unquestionably, Jerry Jones is the primary reason this team has been seeped in a quagmire of mediocrity for the past 12 years. He may not be the reason for the points you enumerated, but he's undoubtedly the culprit here.

Then you agree JJ was solely responsible for 3 superbowls right?

I'll willingly entertain your premise. So what? Do those three Super Bowls give him a pass from here to eternity?

Here's a better question: How would you assess the decision making of an owner who stayed with a GM who had failed to assemble a playoff winning team in 12 years?

The NFL changes -- like any other organization. Either you keep pace with the changes, or you fall behind.

Right on! People fail to realise the bigger point here that Jones plays Owner/GM of the team and has to have the last say in what goes on with this team. If he'd just sit back and reap the profits and let a real GM manage this team we'd be better off.

12 yrs with different coaches and yet nothing...

since he is at fault for the previous 12 years does that mean he is the reason we went from 3-13 under the ancien regime to SB champs in four years and won three of four SBs?

I am just saying if the coaches mistakes are Jerrys fault because he hired them then the superbowls were his fault too right?

Obviously our GM is not going to change no matter how much you whine so why keep whining?

exactly

its only been 2 games... Jerry fans like to wait until the team goes 5-11 b4 they rip the owner!

If the Cowboys are a 7-9 or 6-10 team 1-1 start is not bad!

Just to clarify, the reason I don't put all the blame on Jerry is because we have a very talented team. Anyone can see that and almost everyone would agree.

Ok anyone remember when Wade said things had to change?

Well remember when Wade wanted to get Dan Reeves on his staff and during negotiations the deal fell apart because Jerry wanted to layout a minimum set of hours Reeves had to work during the week in his contract?

Already Wade was handicapped by Jones as far trying to run this team. Nobody can sit here and say that Reeves coming in would not have made a difference in this team. The guy is well respected and has the resume to turn this team around.

Do you seen now? Wade tried to bring in someone that would help this team tremendously and then Jones comes in and screws it up by insulting the guy with a contract that states he must work XX amount hours per week.

It doesn't matter what coach we bring after Wade because Jones is gonna handcuff him anyways and continue to produce an underachieving team until he decides to get off his high horse and let a real football guy run the show.

I was disappointed with how the Reeves thing played out, because I thought it was a good move.

On the other hand, you cant tell me that Reeves would have prevented Romo from being a dumbarse the other night and revert to his Quincy ways either.

We'd be 2-0 if Romo has even an AVERAGE game the other night. He played terrible and that combined with an un-clutch defense lost us the game.

Jerry wasn't the GM back then, Johnson handled ALL football operations, JJ wasn't the GM until '94 after he fired Johnson.

Maybe or maybe not hard to say because Reeves is not here, it would have been a great move if it worked out.

All i'm just saying is that it starts from the top, I guarantee that any owner that had 12 yrs of underachievement would not let the same GM keep running the team. There has to be change and so far we see nothing...so much talk about the change for this year and what makes this team different from last years, the year before, before that, etc?

We can play this game all day. Bottom line: This forum is made for opinions, and I'm expressing mine.

Your article provides a historical assessment of the franchise, not Jerry Jones's recent tenure.

so what of the other teams that have not even gotten to the SB or it has been longer than us at winning a playoff game ? just a Q ?
