Winning the division and being a contender is not mutually exclusive…. Both Dallas and Philly got slapped around like red headed stepchildren last season in the playoffs.. Like neither belonged.. Dallas has more weaknesses than just the OL. Like putting a bandage over a compound fracture.
I see another double digit win season on the horizon.

The foul stench of the worse loss in Cowboys history has not worn off a bit. January's emasculation at the hands of the fledging Packers took a toll not seen around here before. Green Bay had no prospects as the proverbial sacrificial lamb, but instead left with all the women and fine china, laughing their way home after slapping Cowboys' manhood around for three epically long hours.

There's now no pretending left to do. This season feels like an arranged marriage to the fat girl.

Sure, it's sports, and lightning in a bottle and any given Sunday and all of that. But far too many seasons of kerplunk after kersplat have rusted away the spirit of the most ardent of optimists surrounding this rented mule. There's zero anticipation outside of just guessing how the car crash will happen in 2024.

Camp is lifeless with few spectators. The coach is a lame duck. The depth is gone. The quarterback is begging for more money. The owner looks cryptic and delusional. The star players are barking and holding out. This is a dumpster full of gasoline waiting for a spark. This ain't the formula, and everybody knows.

Our hillbilly brass clearly knows and doesn't care because the coffers are full and the tickets are bought. They certainly don't believe in their roster because they sat the offseason out entirely, even more than usual. Didn't sign anyone and let most of what they had go. They've accepted their fate and hunkered down, knowing there are gonna be a lotta road games at home as season ticket holders are flooding their tickets into the after-market.

Never have I seen it this depressing. The ending is already written. Even during the Campo years and that long stretch of Quincy/Henson/Chutch nonsense we suffered through was more intriguing than this. Probably because meaningful winning wasn't so long ago back then.

Can they win some games? Perhaps, because this is the NFL of today, and most teams are pretty bad. Can they make the playoffs? Not likely, but maybe because it's just a shoddy league. But beyond that, there's nothing.

This feels like a 7-10 team with nothing to look forward to. And that's a bad place to be.
Its ok to leave and comeback when they are winning again. No need to live in a state of depression....Life is too short....If you need mental health resources, please let me know. It's a game for me and an escape.....

This is stupid. Good teams lose games all the time.

The running game doesn't correlate to winning.
"This is stupid"...I hope you were nodding to the rest of what you said.

Good teams do not lose "all the time", and the running game (or lack of) can, in fact, correlate to winning (or losing).

What are you talking about, there’s no stench, Jerry says everything is going great, he has a SB team again and Cowboys are eons ahead of all the other teams. Dak is going to get mega dollars to choke some more and do more with less, the future is bright The Dak worm is turning and aSB is right there for the taking. Dak doesn’t play for money he just has to be paid the highest to be fair to the other QBs. Give Jerry credit, trust him he understands everything and doing everything humanly possible to make it happen right now. Doesn’t this make you feel better.
I just want to make Bank bro, drive a range rover, heard that before. How much more money can a player make and still let's the fan base down. As long as they make their money is good enough for you, we the fans have been looking inside from the outside without no bragging rights for 30 years now! But give Dakota his money he deserves it, Yeah right.

The Chiefs looked bad at times last year.

They aren't tanking but next year things kind of reset with more veterans leaving and a new wave of coaches come in to reshape the next 4-5 years with new players and schemes.

They have enough talent, assuming no catastrophic injuries, to make a playoff run. But it likely will end, like it has in the past, there. The team from last year was good but not good enough and the Jones did literally nothing other than make their draft picks and sign an old LB to try to make the team better (while watching some talent run off to other teams). They have JAGs at RB, they aren't all that good at DT, they are now thin at DE, WR is kind of a question behind Lamb, etc.

This is basically football purgatory. The Cowboys field good enough teams to win games but not good enough teams to win playoff games and make a SB run. They draft just well enough to tread water and not just suck for a few years but do nothing else well to make themselves legitimate contenders.
You are sooooooooooooowrong. We got Schoonmaker!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We didn't lose.

We got run off the field, dominated, embarrassed in a home playoff game as the #2 seed in the NFC.

The team did little to actually improve itself beyond hoping some draft picks make immediate impacts. It's quite possible this team could be an 8-9, 7-10 type team if things don't break the way we need it to.
Yap yap yap. Sure, anything is possible.

That's not the same as saying 7 wins is "optimistic." Acting like this team is going to be as bad as the Jets were last year because of how the playoff game went is stupid.

Calling the season the Jets had last year optimistic for this team is stupid. There is no two ways around it.

Yes, because they don't all go 20-0. The Chiefs lost to the Raiders and Broncos...and Packers last year.

The running game has no impact on winning outside of being able to exploit defenses when they go with light boxes against the passing game. Investing in the run game is wasted resources - which is why good teams don't do it.

Well said but they'll probably win just enough games to sneak into the playoffs and get embarrassed again, just to torture us some more....

Lol the Campo years only seem less depressing because it was nearly
25 years ago and people’s memories dull over the bad times.

What is your point? Who cares about what other teams do? The point is that it is not illogical to think this team, the very same team that got blasted at home by the Packers and did nothing but get worse this offseason, could slip to 7-10. Or worse.
