The good thing about predictions from Cowboy fans is they are always wrong lol.
..yeah, that's the fun part. We have ideas or theories how it could occur. I understand the frustration.

I'm predicted 10-7 or 9-8, needing help getting into playoffs.

In the whole scope of things. Its another year, another team. I say this, because defense will have new "Zimmer" mindset.

That's enough for me, for folding out the chair and getting the grill going.

I'm taking my boy to a pre-season game on his birthday (he was born in the middle of the Cowboys/Cardinals preseason game in 2018), but other than that I'm just hoping to sell all my tickets (and my seat license, but that's a whole other story). I couldn't care less about training camp. I don't know why people go, tbh. My apathy is at an all-time high.

Is it? So you think this team is still a 12-5 team? Do you really think we are going to coast to identical records based on last season's record? That might work for Vegas one week after the season, but I don't subscribe to it when I see what we didn't do this offseason. And if you don't think that GB fallout isn't going to linger, then you sleep easier than I do.
Well Dak did tell us to get over it. Lol

The foul stench of the worse loss in Cowboys history has not worn off a bit. January's emasculation at the hands of the fledging Packers took a toll not seen around here before. Green Bay had no prospects as the proverbial sacrificial lamb, but instead left with all the women and fine china, laughing their way home after slapping Cowboys' manhood around for three epically long hours.

There's now no pretending left to do. This season feels like an arranged marriage to the fat girl.

Sure, it's sports, and lightning in a bottle and any given Sunday and all of that. But far too many seasons of kerplunk after kersplat have rusted away the spirit of the most ardent of optimists surrounding this rented mule. There's zero anticipation outside of just guessing how the car crash will happen in 2024.

Camp is lifeless with few spectators. The coach is a lame duck. The depth is gone. The quarterback is begging for more money. The owner looks cryptic and delusional. The star players are barking and holding out. This is a dumpster full of gasoline waiting for a spark. This ain't the formula, and everybody knows.

Our hillbilly brass clearly knows and doesn't care because the coffers are full and the tickets are bought. They certainly don't believe in their roster because they sat the offseason out entirely, even more than usual. Didn't sign anyone and let most of what they had go. They've accepted their fate and hunkered down, knowing there are gonna be a lotta road games at home as season ticket holders are flooding their tickets into the after-market.

Never have I seen it this depressing. The ending is already written. Even during the Campo years and that long stretch of Quincy/Henson/Chutch nonsense we suffered through was more intriguing than this. Probably because meaningful winning wasn't so long ago back then.

Can they win some games? Perhaps, because this is the NFL of today, and most teams are pretty bad. Can they make the playoffs? Not likely, but maybe because it's just a shoddy league. But beyond that, there's nothing.

This feels like a 7-10 team with nothing to look forward to. And that's a bad place to be.
cool... come back and see us next year.

I had some great times going to the practices in San Antonio. I knew when the padded practices were and didn’t miss a one. Great fun.

12 wins is realistic.
You know they’re playing the AFC North don’t you?

Best division in football.

And the 49er’s, Texans, Lions?

I’ll buy the beers if they have double digit wins.

You know what is funny on my part? I have a Cowboy helmet tat on my left leg about the size of a tennis ball that I have had for years. Well, yesterday I went to a place that cuts hair and also does tattoos. While I was getting my hair cut, in the other room was the tattoo artist.

After my hair cut I went into the other room and talked to the tattoo artist about covering up the Cowboy helmet with something else. I showed him my tat and he said that he will work something up and that I can book an appointment this coming Monday. So, I'm going to get rid of that Cowboy helmet and get it covered with whatever he comes up with.

Not sure why I posted this, but that is how I feel and am glad and can't wait until this coming Monday.
I don't know 5, but maybe change it to something like this...

You're leaving out the possibility of the script being written by the NFL based upon what they feel needs to happen.
That scares me the most, that if "America's Team" is in danger of losing that moniker, how would the NFL react, seeing as it has lived off of the coat tails of the Cowboys franchise for decades.
What would they do if their "golden goose" was in danger?
The storyline for the Cowboys winning in a year in which most had given them up for dead might be very profitable- and it might breathe new life into their "golden goose".

Yap yap yap. Sure, anything is possible.

That's not the same as saying 7 wins is "optimistic." Acting like this team is going to be as bad as the Jets were last year because of how the playoff game went is stupid.
You are forgetting another factor here - this team is on the proverbial ledge given how they are constructed. They aren't particularly deep and they have for all intents and purposes a lame duck coach. If this team starts slow, the locker room is going to be hard to hold together and McCarthy will be a dead man walking.

Teams have unraveled drastically in that kind of situation.

This team needs a good start or 6-7 wins is a distinct possibility. Given the dynamics put in place by Jerry and company, I don't think a team has as wide a win range as the Cowboys.

Then you are switching teams I assume. I'll never erase my Cowboys tattoo. My love for the team is deeper than a terrible owner, entitled and overpaid mediocre players. Is it hard to be a fan these days? Absolutely. Do I have ANY hope this year or for the near future? No. But my fandom is bigger than this current toxic organization. I can only hope I outlive it and see a new dawn. I'm not optimistic though.
wow you are a diehard fan who never gives up !
Sad because none of us can outlive the jones family cowboys. Our only hope is if he was forced to sell the team, and that is a tiny bit of hope.

Jerry is like the evil emperor in star wars lol, only there are no jedi to battle him. There are some rebel murmurs , but even that wont happen.
The emperor rules on forever in this movie. His Deathstar will keep doing his bidding. It doesnt destroy planets, it just delivers the cash flow
Funding the expansion of the jones empire.

What are you talking about, there’s no stench, Jerry says everything is going great, he has a SB team again and Cowboys are eons ahead of all the other teams. Dak is going to get mega dollars to choke some more and do more with less, the future is bright The Dak worm is turning and aSB is right there for the taking. Dak doesn’t play for money he just has to be paid the highest to be fair to the other QBs. Give Jerry credit, trust him he understands everything and doing everything humanly possible to make it happen right now. Doesn’t this make you feel better.
you forgot that jerry the FO , the HC, and dak are ALL IN !
When jerry said they would have to do more with less, he meant it, and now he is talking superbowl even though he admits it is a lesser team!!
If they couldnt do it last year, no way they can this year.
But I think he knows that, so I wonder what he is really expecting this season?

Best piece of writing I've read on here ....maybe ever. Hope Rockport is taking notes.

 Truth is...all this is so transparent. It's amazing more people can't see it. Once again....instead of being proactive and doing something about it....this front office is more than happy to suffer through this year...as long as the tickets sell. It's disgusting how the Jones family runs a business into the ground....and people keep buying into their crap.

Agree with OP, and think most fans do, but to be that glass half-full fan, will say this is similar to that year Garrett had his contract extended. When Romo went down, all hope was lost, and Dak and Zeke came out guns blazing for not only OROY, but OPOY. Youth regenerates a team. So hoping those draft picks can do some magic. They're all on the lines, and that is where the team has been bullied most end of season and playoffs.
nope, the draft picks this time were not qb and RB , they cant give the same type results.
Also Linehan was OC, and he made a playbook for rookie dak, and ran the ball way more.
Totally different.
This year the main problem with the offense is bringing elliot back and making him starter. I think a bad run game will kill their offense.

That's not a very happy ending to your script. I would suggest some slight modifications.

There is just too much talent on this team for them to suddenly implode. A bad season would imply numerous injuries to some key players. Is that the prediction?

I expect some increase in productivity from our younger players. Dak will be Dak, at least during the regular season. The defense is getting deadly despite the loss of Williams. Any improvement from Mazi Smith combined with the additional talent at LB as well as the defensive backfield should push them from #5 last season to a top 2.

That is, unless they are hit hard by injury. That is an almost random event and out of anyone's hands. Unfortunately, injuries aren't taken into consideration often at the end of a season when coaches are losing their jobs.

The Cowboys could very well go 7-10 but the end of my script has them going 10-7......while advancing into the NFC championship game.

They have enough talent, assuming no catastrophic injuries, to make a playoff run. But it likely will end, like it has in the past, there. The team from last year was good but not good enough and the Jones did literally nothing other than make their draft picks and sign an old LB to try to make the team better (while watching some talent run off to other teams). They have JAGs at RB, they aren't all that good at DT, they are now thin at DE, WR is kind of a question behind Lamb, etc.

This is basically football purgatory. The Cowboys field good enough teams to win games but not good enough teams to win playoff games and make a SB run. They draft just well enough to tread water and not just suck for a few years but do nothing else well to make themselves legitimate contenders.
Exactly, there's a chance it all goes to crap as well. The team they have with the draft picks should be pretty good, but not good enough. We are what we've been for the last 3 years, a good not great team.

Of course everything could go right, but it's unlikely. The fact is everything went right and fell into place last year. We did nothing with it. I don't believe we did enough to address our fatal flaws either.
