I know they list him as 6'1" 220 but I aint buyin that weight. Even at that he's still below average size by modern NFL QB standards. Our pass rush can get to him .. They got to him in the playoff game and the Eagles got to him and knocked him out of the game the following week. The main reason his numbers are as good as they are is his guys catch the ball. The 49ers have a drop rate of 3.7% to 6.1% for the Cowboys. Purdy's off target throw percentage is 13.1% while Dak's is 8.3%. We all have seen for ourselves that our tight ends have to be leading the league in dropped passes as a position group. That absolutely HAS to be better .. this week would be a good time to start!! But back to Purdy.. I wanna see us get in his face and make him make some throws under duress. That's when we'll really get to see what he's made of. Oh and let's hope the refs don't let Trent Williams start backing up two seconds before the snap all game long this time around.
Unfortunately the 49ers are like the third best rushing team in the league and really don't have to rely on him to pass the ball to win the game this does not play to our strength

The boys need to make him feel smaller. They need to attack the RB coming out the backfield, hit him, disrupt him etc and not let CMC catch anything in open space.

I would love to see Purdy under a lot of pressure, for example being down by 16 points and with only 10 minutes on the clock. I think he is good, but will see.

Like someone said here, its not Cm, its the entire system, lets see if DQ can neutralize it.

If it wasn't cmc doing damage it would be Elijah Mitchell. They can plug and play. It just so happens CMC is the best in the business.

Hopefully the run defense brings it on Sunday. I really think they will. I gotta believe them dudes are tired of hearing about how tough the big bad 49ers are and will open up a can on them come Sunday. My only concern is whether Quinn will stick with his all safeties look against heavy formations when they come with it. At some point you gotta match beef with beef.

Everybody on that list struggled with injuries throughout their careers .. Young has already missed games and he's only 4 games in. And don't forget Tua.. Another small guy who is in trouble if a defender gets hold of him. They all also had to do different things to compensate for their stature. Vick, Russ and Hurts all use(d) athleticism to get out and make things happen. I don't know frankly how athletic Young is and Tua has not shown himself to be all that athletic either. Same with Purdy. What helps Purdy is he plays behind one of the best lines in football with one of the best backs in football and one of the best receiving groups in football. And a coach who is one of the best at fitting a QB into his system in football. He's in a great situation. I wanna see what he looks like when things aren't so smooth for him. When C-Mac is shut down, the receivers are blanketed and the pass rush is on his arse. Hopefully we get to see all of that Sunday night.
Kinda funny 1” and 15 lbs make such a difference and of course Dak doesn’t miss time with injuries. Hate to tell you he’s not much off the average size for QBs now in this “modern NFL” you talk about.

Purdy is good at running the 49ers offense. He is doing what is asked of him. Get the ball out of his hands asap and into their many playmakers hands.

Deebo, Brandon, Kittle and C-Mac can all make things happen after the catch and the offensive line is good at holding I mean blocking for him. That is a offense will MANY playmakers. And they seem to catch everything.

Purdy went to a GREAT situation.

It's no so much injuries as the ability to impact the QB when he's out there. The shorter a guy is the more you can bother him with pressure up the middle. The less sturdy he is built the more easily you can bother his throwing motion and the great the impact of.. well impact.. It's about how to attack a smaller QB not necessarily about Brock Purdy. Remember Landry used to have the d-line slow their rush and extend their hands when they faced shorter QBs.

Drew Brees was smaller than his listed height and weight. For that matter I think Tony Romo was too.

Purdy can play and that's what matters.

His size hasn’t been an issue. He continues to ball out for San Francisco. We sacked Purdy twice in the playoffs. If we can’t stop McCafferty and their running game Purdy might not have to throw a lot. He’s having a good season, completing over 72% of his passes and he hasn’t thrown a pick. Everyone keeps waiting for the clock to strike 12 on him, but it hasn’t happened.

I agree Brees was probably an inch or two shorter than his listed height but I don't know about Romo. I think he was every bit of 6'2". The funny thing is Romo's weight was listed as 230-ish almost the same as Dak.. but obviously the weight distribution and musculature was very different. Romo had dad-bod at age 25.

No doubt.. but as I am fond of saying.. every game you play in the league writes another page in the book on you. Teams will figure out how to make him uncomfortable and how to force him to make throws that he's not great at throwing. It's inevitable in the NFL. There were defenses that gave Peyton Manning and Tom Brady fits.. they will do it to Brock Purdy too.

The thing is, I really don't think Purdy is an elite quarterback. He's so well protected by that system, an elite defense, the running game, and high percentage throws. Purdy really isn't put into too many pressure situations and he really doesn't have a chance to fail that often. The challenge for the Cowboys will be flipping that script. Stop the run. Make him play from behind. Force him to take some chances.

The pages are starting to mount with him, and he continues to play well. He seems to be getting more comfortable with every start and he’s gaining experience. He has a good OL in front of him and a great RB to hand the ball to. That’s a recipe for success for any QB. To make him uncomfortable you have to put pressure on him. He’s only been sacked seven times this season and has a passer rating of 115.1. The problem with the Cowboys if they get too sack happy they get killed by the run. With all the speed we have on defense we have a tendency to overrun plays. In pass coverage we’ve also had problems leaving receivers wide-open. Joshua Dobbs hit us with some good pass plays. This is going to be a very tough game for the Cowboys on Sunday. It’s going to provide a real good barometer for the type of team they have.

Nah.. he hasn't even started a full season's worth of games yet. But credit to him for continuing to play well within the scheme. But as you say, he has a great line, a great RB, great receivers and let's not leave out a great play caller working with him. Dude is in a wonderful situation. I got nothin bad to say about him.. I just want him to look really bad on Sunday night .... Dobbs did some damage to be sure but I have to believe some of that was adjusting to life without Diggs. But every team blows coverages now and again. I think Bland has found his legs outside and I think J-Lew is back on form inside. We know Gilmore can be beaten with high end speedsters.. the key is not to give the QB enough time for them to get by him.

He’s far from an elite QB, but he has played very well. Kyle Shanahan has a very good system that he operates well in. It seems like no matter who they put in at QB they have success. McCafferty and the running game has helped and of course their defense. Everything isn’t put on the shoulders of their QB. They don’t get too far behind in games, which keeps Purdy from having to press. They can continue to play their style of offense and not have to abandon what they’re doing. The key to beating them is to make them play from behind. Force Purdy to have to beat you. Try and put the game on his shoulders and force him into making mistakes. We have to jump on them early because if they land the first big blow and jump on us, it could be a long Sunday night. We’re not going to win this game if we’re having to play from behind all night. If we were to get down by two scores, this could get real ugly.
