The thing about Purdy is he is small

Nah.. he hasn't even started a full season's worth of games yet. But credit to him for continuing to play well within the scheme. But as you say, he has a great line, a great RB, great receivers and let's not leave out a great play caller working with him. Dude is in a wonderful situation. I got nothin bad to say about him.. I just want him to look really bad on Sunday night .... Dobbs did some damage to be sure but I have to believe some of that was adjusting to life without Diggs. But every team blows coverages now and again. I think Bland has found his legs outside and I think J-Lew is back on form inside. We know Gilmore can be beaten with high end speedsters.. the key is not to give the QB enough time for them to get by him.
He hasn’t played a full season, but he’s played in some important games and hasn’t wavered. He got knocked out of the game early against Philly in the playoffs so we can’t judge him on that game. However, Philly was getting to him and it wasn’t looking good. Plus Philly won the battle in the trenches which is something we haven’t been able to do against San Francisco. Purdy has all the right components around him to be successful. First thing the Cowboys have to do on Sunday is stop the run and McCafferty. Our chances of winning the game are going to go completely down the drain if we can’t do that. They’ll just bang the run all day and allow Purdy to pick his shots.

Kyle Shanahan's system is virtually QB independent. Tua was struggling until Shanahan protege Mike McDaniel came to town, now he's lighting the Earth on fire.

Purdy is tough as nails and makes plays.
Watched him plenty at ISU.

But he isn't making plus throws. He's in an excellent offense with elite weapons buoyed by a great defense.
And he makes the right, routine play.
SF is a very complete football team.
CMC has about 100 yards more rushing than anyone else.
If Deebo is out things get a lot easier for Dallas. He missed a lot of time last week.

Dallas will have to at least get a draw in the trenches and win Special Teams.

I know they list him as 6'1" 220 but I aint buyin that weight. Even at that he's still below average size by modern NFL QB standards. Our pass rush can get to him .. They got to him in the playoff game and the Eagles got to him and knocked him out of the game the following week. The main reason his numbers are as good as they are is his guys catch the ball. The 49ers have a drop rate of 3.7% to 6.1% for the Cowboys. Purdy's off target throw percentage is 13.1% while Dak's is 8.3%. We all have seen for ourselves that our tight ends have to be leading the league in dropped passes as a position group. That absolutely HAS to be better .. this week would be a good time to start!! But back to Purdy.. I wanna see us get in his face and make him make some throws under duress. That's when we'll really get to see what he's made of. Oh and let's hope the refs don't let Trent Williams start backing up two seconds before the snap all game long this time around.
Ronnie--- My main concern on offense is if...cowboy coaching leadership would actually put Edoga at LT against Bosa....Dak will get killed if they do that....i am Ok with the rest...Go-Cowboys and How Bout Dem Cowboys

Hopefully the run defense brings it on Sunday. I really think they will. I gotta believe them dudes are tired of hearing about how tough the big bad 49ers are and will open up a can on them come Sunday. My only concern is whether Quinn will stick with his all safeties look against heavy formations when they come with it. At some point you gotta match beef with beef.
I'm with you brother I am tired of us getting punched in the mouth by everybody's running game somebody has just got to stand up and say no more.

As a fan it's a very helpless feeling watch the eagles just be able to push their way to first downs and impose their will and conversely watch our defense get gashed by a substandard team like the Cardinals.

If we get bullied again by the 49ers it is going to feel very hopeless because you know we are going to face both those teams the eagles and the 49ers if we make it to the playoffs.

We also know if we can't stop there running game what the outcome is going to be very similar to rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic

With Purdy they have won something like 13 games in a row regular season. ONLY game they have lost including playoffs was when he got knocked out in the first quarter.

At some point you guys are going to realize the kid can play.

This is what scares me. They run the ball so well and our D front has to be great and make stops. If not, it will open up their scheming passing attack.
And likewise, we will absolutely need to run the ball very well against their D or they will simply T off on Dak and shut our passing attack down.
This game will be won and lost in the trenches. Sure hope our O-line is healthy and our DT's are up for it.
Most annoying thing about Purdy is he can get those key 3rd and shorts with his legs when there is nothing there.

He’s the same size as Hurts. I guess that’s why they’re both such bad quarterbacks.
If you walk past Purdy in the grocery store.... you might mistake him for a college kid working as a stock boy.

If you walk past Hurts in the grocery store and didn't know who he was....you'd be like "holy crap...look at that dude... he must be an NFL linebacker or something"

You gotta throw the listed height/weight out the window and just your eyes.

I work with dudes that are 5'11" and 175 and they look like they could be MMA fighters. Also work with dudes that are 6 feet and a half inch (like purdy) that round up to 6'2" (like Purdy) that weigh about 205 (like Purdy) but weigh themselves with work boots and a backpack and say they are 220.

Purdy is a crafty QB with a below average arm. He can play the position if he's protected.

But he is not a strongly built guy..... he's just a regular sized, regular muscled dude, that happens to be good at throwing a football. If big angry DLinemen get shots on him....he will get knocked out of the game. Don't want anyone hurt....but just stating facts: he isn't built to take hard shots and get up and keep going

He’s very hard to sack even when the pressure is immediate. The kid knows where his outlets and hots are, and he gets rid of the ball FAST.

The thing about Purdy is he's a baller.

Not only does he play for the love of the game, he learns really quick. He gets the ball out quick. He's far too accurate for a 2nd year 3rd day draft pick.

This is the story of a rookie who walked into minicamp far more talented than he ever got credit for. He has to be one of the most under-the-radar college quarterbacks to ever exist. NFL talent evaluators just don't make these kinds of mistakes and I'm including the 49ers. Do you think they would have known and still waited until the absolute last pick to choose him?

"I know the rest of you guys are nervous, you know, since this Purdy kid could be the next Tom Brady. Still.....I just think we should wait until every other team exhausts every opportunity to draft him and then get him with the very last pick"

It didn't go down like that.

He has yet to miss a start. Maybe you should refrain from suggesting he’s not durable at least until he’s missed a game.

As long as this defense comes to play and stays true to their gap assignments with much discipline and read their keys they should be ok. The offense needs to show out this game. Hoping both MM and Q spent loads of time during the off season studying their collective buxx off on just the niners looking for weaknesses and tendencies. Time to show up Boys!

Oh I agree... They cannot be allowed to run the ball at will or we will get bludgeoned into submission.

One.. it's 9 in a row.. Still two short of the winning streak Dak went on during his rookie season and a ways to go to get to 13. Second.. at no point have I nor anyone else that I've seen said he can't play. In fact it's the opposite. You don't spend time trying to deconstruct and dismantle opponents for whom you do not have a healthy respect. I think Purdy is good. Really good. I'm just not as anxious to call him "great" yet as some. He plays in a system that suits his skillset and style perfectly. Our job is to disrupt that system and make him do things he ISN'T comfortable doing. If we sack him 7 times and knock him down another 10-12 and he still keeps getting up, comes out ballin and carves us up for 3 TDs and 300 yards he will have earned my respect. Can't wait for Sunday!
