The Trey Lance Pick Gets Worse

I believe if he plays even a bit it goes to a 5th. He has to play over 50% for it to be a 4th

I was referring to the comment that the Lance trade was “even worse”. It was a 4th then and it’s a 4th now. No better. No worse.

Fields value plummeted because so few teams still were interested in starting QBs so he went for a backup price
I don't think so. I read several things, and every one of them said 51% of snaps = a 4th. Where'd you get the 5th pick from?

Your last line is simply hilarious. Fields went for a backup price because he is terrible. He has been bad at QB since he entered the league. I have no idea where you got the reasoning in your head that it has something to do w/ demand, but it's a hugely erroneous take. Several teams are still QB needy and would've given up a high draft pick in an instant for a starting QB type.

In all seriousness, exactly what is making people think Fields doesn't suck?

Truth.

3rd pick in the 1st round.

An amazing trade by Jerry.

Too bad Purdy choked in the SB.

8)
Purdy is good enough to get into an NFL game that counts on a team that played in the Super Bowl. Trey Lance couldn’t get on the 48 man game day roster for a team that lost in the first round of the playoffs. How long until Lance gets in a game that counts? However good he is, it’s a waste if no one ever finds out. There is no way it was necessary to use a fourth round draft pick to acquire him.

I'd have to see Trey play for us for 8 or 9 years before I could make a decision on him. 10 years would be better, sometimes a miracle happens.
I'll be here supporting the crap out of him, even if he plays bad. I'll be spouting his stats and telling everyone he's better than Mahomes and most definitely better than Troy.

Trey for life. Let's get this done.

You are correct. Fields, though, will be on the Steelers 48 man game day playing roster when the season begins, in his first season with Pittsburgh. Lance could not do that in an entire season with Dallas. And Cooper Rush is still QB2 for the Cowboys. Is there a trade market for Rush? No. What is Lance worth? He’s a free agent in 12 months.

Cowboys need to trade Trey Lance and get a 4th round pick back. Too many holes to fill in 2023 and not enough draft picks. It doesn't get any more ignorant than carrying a 3rd string QB, paying him more ($5 mil) than your backup ($3 mil) and occupying a much needed roster spot once again...just because the owner is a fool who caves to the hordes of Dak haters.
You think that's why they traded for him? Really? I've not seen Jerry cave to anything I want ever and he seems to hold Dak in high regard.

Not bothering to go back and read it all, but hopefully by now after about 6 pages of posts someone would have pointed out that when everyone knows you have to make a trade, and when everyone knows there's a very limited market for the product you're looking to send away... in fact, no one appears to be looking at your product as their only option...

The price equilibrium has swayed well away from where you'd like for it to be.

The Niners got fair market value for the conditions of that moment. The Bears did, too, though.

I'd surround him with the best talent in the NFL and when he failed, I say the team is crap and we don't have any talent. I'd say the offensive line sucks, the defense can't stop anybody, and we have the worst coaches in the NFL, but I'd never lose my support of Trey for life. I'll call anybody who has any criticism of him a hater.

By definition, a Phenom.
Having the potential to become a phenom is not a phenom.

Going on year 5 since he last played. Have shown no signs of becoming a phenom.

Not sure the word phenom and emergency QB belong in the same sentence.

Rush in the 2nd/last year of his contract. After one season learning the offense while being the emergency QB, fans would expect Lance gets an opportunity during training camp to show his growth - and perform well enough in preseason to possibly unseat Rush as the 2024 backup. If that were to happen- would Rush decide to stay on the team as the emergency QB? His salary + roster bonus is a little over half of what Lance will make ($2.9 vs. $5.3 mil), and on top of that, Rush's is not guaranteed - and Lance's is (per Over The Cap).

Lance has a higher ceiling than Fields.

That’s why he was chosen over him.
So…Zach Wilson has a higher ceiling than Lance. That’s why he chosen over him. What do you think the Jets will get for Wilson? It will be nothing despite, according to your logic, he has a higher ceiling than Lance.

The compensation that idiot gave up for Lance becomes more ridiculous as more deals are made. Fields traded for a conditional 6th round pick that becomes a fourth only if he plays 51% of the snaps.
Why do you think the 9ers were falling all over themselves to close the deal JJ was offering?????? Nobody in the right mind who is supposed to be a football expert thought this deal was the deal of all deals for the Cowboys, it was quite the opposite............LOL!!!!!!

If Lance had any chance at being good the 49ers never would have got rid of him. They paid too much to get him. They realized they made a mistake and cut their losses. Something we never do.

As a true Cowboy fan, I can only hope that Lance is a stud as the current QB isn't getting the job done.
If not Lance then keep looking like every team does in the NFL.
You don't need a 60 million $ QB to beat the Giants.
