The move by Sony is unheard of. Their refund policy is you can’t get your money back for a digital game if you even started to only download it.

The whole situation is fascinating to watch unfold. I think CDPR wanted GTA style multiplayer with micro transactions. No way they’ll have the guts to do that now without some major overhauls and PR work.

I wonder if Sony removed it from their store just to get back at CD for saying there would be be funds without checking with Song first. What a disaster, glad i got much 60$ back.
I was wondering about that. Probably that combined with the sheer number of requests coming in. They were probably flooded.

But now Sony also gets to look like an absolute hero and not aligned in any form with CDPR.

I wonder how much of it was desperation to release the game before Christmas because they needed a huge cash infusion to cover previous expenses and to finish the game properly but they knew they could not just release it for PC due to contractual agreements with Microsoft and Sony.

Since the game has released and sold well, they got a lot of money and they have agreed to pay full bonuses to their developers/staff and now they can spin it as, "We listened to you, the gamers, and went back to make the game better for you."

I say this as a fan of CDPR so I am not pushing any agenda.

They had said before that they are going to continue the Witcher series. Im not sure if its going to be an actual Witcher game, or jusf set in that universe. I think switching focus to the Lodge of Sorcereres could be interesting. I wonder if this debacle is going to hurt they hype for that

I am surprised this doesn't happen more often this time of year. They've been pretty heavy on the ad schedule and there could be some contract fulfillments to ship it in 2020.
Hear ya, this one is a little more odd due to the vast majority of the $ they made came from last gen consoles. So they were selling the PC version (visually) and denying anyone reviewing the last gen stuff to show actual gameplay. As developers started aiming solely for next gen, they were still using current gen pre order $ to pay for development/salaries, etc. so they couldn't go next gen exclusive route at that point.

Sony/Microsoft took their word that they would work on last gen based off of reputation; I think that will be the biggest lesson learned on their side going forward. Even good companies can try to pull a fast one on you and will test more on their side before allowing certification.

So really it seemed there was pressure, they just kind of lied their way through it and are now just basically saying, yeah our bad on last gen but here is your money back (kinda). I put in for a digital refund with Sony and haven't heard back.

I posted this in an earlier post but my personal opinion is that the PC version was likely ready a while back but they had a contractual obligation to release the PS4 and XBOX versions at the same time so they kept delaying releasing the PC version until the next-gen consoles came out so they could release all of them at the same time.

This way they technically met the contract requirements while getting a second chance to "listen to the gamers and make a game they deserve" and then be the hero developer that really cares.

Any racing game fans in here? I've been playing Dirt 5 and it's pretty damn fun! I'm enjoying it. It's quite the change from the previous Dirt games. There is pretty much no traditional rally racing and most everything is 3 lap closed circuit courses. The game is pretty straightforward, simplistic, and has a more arcade style feel to it. Graphics are crisp, the weather and time of day cycles are neat, and the soundtrack is fitting. I wasn't expecting to like it much going in (based on gameplay I saw) but I'm really having fun with it. If I have one complaint it's that the AI sucks. They seem to crash into you a lot, I've had them spin me out, and I've had multiple races where I've been leading in the 2nd and 3rd lap and then suddenly near the finish line a few cars suddenly find an extra gear that you don't have. lol That gets a bit annoying. With all that said, overall, fun game if you enjoy the racing genre. I do recommend. :D
