ESO is a monster, I think the biggest size wise of any MMORPG. Am deleting it before bed though to make more space, that and am a stickler for not having things installed that wont see any play.
I have around 20 MMOs installed and I keep most patched even though I haven't played any in a while mainly because if I want to play something, I tend to move on to something else if I have to start a long install or patch first.

Remember the convo we had in 2015 about MMO's that should be out in a couple years, Camelot Unchained, COE, Crowfall and Pantheon. Here we are 5 years later and still nothing released. Chronicles of Elyria is becoming a bigger joke than Star Citizen.

I had a bad feeling about COE all along. I still hold out hope about SC and I believe they have a real product, but I am not sure they have real incentive to officially launch any time in the near future as they probably make more money now than they would a year after launch.

I have always avoided early access online games because most are either scams or destined to fail once their money stream dies out.

I will support small indie offline games in early access but I only buy them once they are playable to some degree.

Star Citizen has raised over 261 million.
Dual Universe, 20 million
Camelot Unchained over 5 million
Crowfall, around 20 million.
Chronicles of Elyria around 10 million.
None are close to release, the closest and the one I would be most interested is Dual Universe which is supposed to be beta later this year. https://www.dualthegame.com/en/

I funded Legends of Aria aka Shards online and Saga of Lucimia and regret both, especially the former.

I don't remember games taking this long?

Anyone pick up any discounted games (new or old) over the holidays?

All of the selling platforms seemed to have sales going on as usual, so I usually try to replace my older games and pick up a few new games during heavily discount sales promos.

It's barely discounted, but, I've been kicking around the idea of buying the new Star Wars game. Only thing holding me back is I hear it is pretty much a campaign only game. I very very rarely ever play a campaign on a game twice, so, I'm not sure. Could just rent it. Which, btw, leaves me with Gamefly only. I guess Redbox stopped renting games. That's a bummer. I enjoyed that service for a quick 1 night grab.

I have not spent $40+ on a new non-MMO game in years for that very reason. While I've grown tired of MMO games, those at least have a lot of replay ability.

Non-MMO story-based games tend to offer much better game play and a much better story, but rarely offer the replay ability that MMOs can. Games like RDR2 probably do a better job than most, but I would expect the familiarity to set in no matter how dynamic the game engine is over time.

I want to buy the Jedi Fallen Order game, but not at the current price, even discounted. I have so many unplayed games as it is right now that it makes it an easy decision to avoid buying the more expensive games, even if they are fairly priced.

I hear you on that. I have a TON of games and just not enough time to play them all. It's funny, I played and enjoyed RDR2 as a single-player more than I did as an MMO. I think I tried playing online maybe once. Maybe it's fantastic but for some reason it just never interested me. I had a perfectly great time just cruising the gorgeous and open world map, enjoying the story line, and interacting with the world all by my lonesome. :D

Been playing Link's Awakening on the Switch. Have a huge backlog of games still, but Zelda jumps to the front of the line. I did wait and let someone get it for me for Christmas (thanks, Mom). Probably about 60% done with it. It's your classic old school Zelda, though the controls feel a little more sluggish than I'm used to, and the difficulty is on the easy side.

For the older gamers ..

My Abandonware - Download Old Video Games
https://www.myabandonware.com/

I posted this in the "Interesting Sites" thread, but thought it would be good to post here as well.

I found that site long ago when I was looking for a way to play an old Windows game where my original copy would not work on Windows 10, and I was able to find a workable version on that site.

Since there seem to be many old school gamers on this site.

Including some old school MMORPG gamers.

Did anybody here used to play Ultimate Online?

I used to LOVE playing UO. One of the first fully online MMORPG’s. You could own your own house, there were dungeons. You could be a thief and steal from other players or be a murderer.

I remember having multiple characters. A warrior. A Mage, a tamer who has dragons and a Murderer character.

I also remember saving up to buy my own house bear one of the dungeons, named Despise. I would use my murderer to attack and kill people who were going through the dungeon and then loot all of their belongings.

I know UO is still around but it’s nothing like what if once was with all the changes they’ve made.
