Managed to snag an Xbox Series X preorder on Amazon today. For anyone who is switching to Xbox, if you get Xbox Live Gold, you can convert it to game pass ultimate 1:1 for $1 up to 3 years. I bought some codes online and am set for 3 years.

Can anyone recommend me a monitor for gaming under 200?

Ive never played games on a monitor but I want to give it a try and don’t want to invest a lot.

It’s for console Gaming btw too. I don’t play pc games.

Just get a decent TV. There aren't a lot of great options at that price point.

Im going to get a TV too but I want more options that have the 2.1 HDR port because evidently that is a must for next gen gaming to really get the most out of 4K gaming.

I also don’t want to play games on a big TV.. Lkke 35- 40 inches is my preference.

So I think the move for me is to just stick with the old TV until more options become available.

Can't name specific models, but look for 4k resolution, avoid a screen finish that you don't want. I prefer matte/anti-glare, but gloss would allow for the best possible image to display regardless of monitor/tv.

Also look for monitors to have a game mode setting. If it does I'd say most affordable 4k monitors are perfectly fine for gaming.

Unnecessary RGB and other features will drive up the price. Many companies will overrate or overhype their "ultra fast response" just for marketing purposes.

Regardless if you're tight on money or just don't want to invest the $$$ into a monitor best buy and other sites have 6-18 month no interest financing. $20-$40/month makes these purchases easier lol. I would say go to stores and see them on to get an idea how they look.

If you ever buy a tv I will always recommend OLED. And remember tvs in store always have their tvs set to the completely wrong settings for viewing, high contrast, screen smoothing (soap opera effect). I always disable every enhancement a tv has enabled and adjust the black level, brightness, contrast, and color temp to look good/more natural. Some prefer warm colors, but I keep it neutral. Too much orange or blue looks weird (warm vs cool)

If you're wanting to go next gen, a 1440 monitor will probably give you the best bang for your buck, but $200 won't even get that. They're expensive relative to TVs. You'll have to go used at that price point, and even then, it will be a tough task.

Didn't realize this at the time, but you get PC games with game pass ultimate. Installing MS Flight Sim right now. Pretty cool.

Well, I beat Bioshock 1 last weekend and beat Bioshock 2 last night. lol Awesome games. Just a fantastic storyline and environment. While I thought the storyline was much better in 1, I liked a lot of things better in 2, as far as gameplay. They simplified some things, the fighting mechanics were great, and all around it just felt smoother to play.

I did start Bioshock Infinite this morning, for like 20-30 minutes, just to see what it was all about. I'm not sure if it ties into 1 and 2 at all, but it is a completely different environment. So far, with my small sample size of gameplay, it seems OK. I'm sure I will keep chugging along on it because I'm intrigued to see where it takes me but I can tell you I feel like I'm going to like the first 2 much better.

Infinite is my favorite one. There are theories about how it ties in, but we can discuss that after you finish it.

if anyone is still trying to snag a ps5 gamestop.com has them right now, but there's a queue so when you visit the site just leave the page open until you're next.

I'm not, but I just tried, and it is still throwing people in a queue. At this point I'm just going to wait and be patient for a PS5. I'm all good now that I have a Series X on order. :D

I was supposed to work on the first Bioshock but ended up getting assigned to another project. At the time, it was considered kind of a shot in the dark as we didn't make those kind of games. Strangely, I've never played any of them. One of my former bosses is the brains behind those.

I should add that he's brilliant. I wish I had that talent.
